6. Plastic is most commonly used for:
•Packaging
•Building and housing
•Transport
7. Sediments are a natural part of aquatic
systems.during the past centuries humans have
strongly affected the Danube’s riverbed,
straightening it and making sediments load
unstable.
If sediments are not balanced it will affect the
wildlife and greeneries around the river.
Unbalanced sediments also makes it harder for us
to keep control in flood events.

9. With the help of hydroelectric power plant we can generate electricity.
These power plants are also good for the environment because these are a
renewable energy source. In this power plant, we were explained through
a mock-up how the power plant works.
10. Microplastic
• Plastics have been serving societal development over the last 60 years
because of their excellent material properties. Over this period of time,
production of plastic has increased from 1.7 million tonnes in 1959 to
more than 280 million tonnes annually today. This number represents
roughly 40 kg of plastics produced annually for each of the
approximately 7 billion people on Earth.
•
The source of Danube plastic. Around 10% of the particles found in the
Danube River were identified as pellets, which unambiguously were
attributed to industrial activities such as production processes,
conversion and transport. Some 90% of the plastic particles in the
Danube River, however, are emitted by diffuse sources, these being
littering, fragmentation and transport by wind, run-off from sealed
surfaces (roads, parking spaces and residential areas), inappropriate
use of products, use of cosmetics, construction activities and so forth.
By the same pathways, plastic and microplastic can reach soil, air
and other environmental compartments and, once ingested by
organisms, move up within the food chain.
