3. What it is.. STaR stands for School Technology and Readiness Was developed to see where each district/school/teacher is when it comes to the four key areas of the Long Range Plan for Technology STaR Chart
4. NCLB mandates the Technology Range Plan States by the end of 8th grade all students will be technology literate All teachers need to be technology literate Technology must be taught across all content areas K-8 Did you know….

There are four areas that the survey address Teaching and Learning Educator Preparation and Development Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support Infrastructure for Technology Each area is ranked based off of a series of questions Early Tech, Developing Tech, Advanced Tech, and Target Tech The Four Areas

Teaching and Learning As a District (Developing Tech) “Instruction is teacher-directed and students regularly use technology on an individual basis to access electronic information and develop communication and presentation projects. There is minimal use of technology in foundation TEKS. Most Technology Applications TEKS are met K-8; high school campuses teach at least 2 Technology Applications courses.” As a Campus (Advanced Tech)*Higher than the State “Instruction is teacher-facilitated and students work with peers and experts to evaluate information, analyze data and content in order to problem solve. Technology is integrated into foundation area TEKS, and activities are separated by subject and grade. All Technology Applications TEKS are met K-8; high school campuses offer and teach at least 4 Technology Applications courses.” (TEA, 2011)
9. Educator Preparation and Development As a District (Developing Tech) “Use of technology is for administrative tasks and classroom management. There is use of online resources. 40% of educators meet SBEC standards. Administrators expect teachers to use technology. 6-24% of technology budget allocated for professional development.” As a Campus (Advanced Tech) “There is integration of technology into teaching and learning. There is use of online resources regularly. 60% of educators meet SBEC standards. Administrators recognize and identify exemplary use of technology. 25-29% of technology budget allocated for professional development.” (TEA, 2011)
10. Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support As a District (Developing Tech)*Lower than the State “Campus plan aligned with Long-Range Plan for Technology. Teachers and administrators have vision for technology. One technical support staff to 750 computers. There is a full-time district technology director. The Technology Allotment and local funding is used for purchases.” As a Campus (Advanced Tech) “Campus plan aligned with Long-Range Plan for Technology. Teachers and administrators have vision for technology. One technical support staff to 750 computers. There is a full-time district technology director. 11. Both the District and Campus (Advanced Tech) “There are 4 or less students per computer. There is direct connectivity to Internet in 75% of classrooms and library.
