1. Q2. How effective is the
combination of your main

2. I think they are very affective as a combination. As you can see, one way I have attempted to
maintain continuity of the brand throughout is with the constant use of the similar images of the tree

products are also relatively dark with little vivid colours such as yellow, green etc. This was one
thing I made sure was consistent with my video that the scenes were kept in a similar dark theme
as the rest of the products especially as the genre is rock/alternative which is stereotypically dim.
The logo I designed has also been placed on many of my media texts in order to combine all the
products as a brand. My intentions behind the logo is that it becomes a recognisable symbol for the
band and the placement of the logo on various potential merchandise would allow me to brand the
bands image with the logo.
In order for my music video to be seen as combination of products along with the Digipack and
magazine advertisement, I had initially intended to shoot various scenes featuring the tree. However
due to time constraint and weather conditions I was unable to this. Next time I definitely feel I
would manage my time more efficiently so I was able to film these scenes and gain that continuity
throughout all of the products.

Design.
After looking over all of my logo designs I chose this logo, firstly as it is very basic simplistic logo which after
researching logo designs of this genre tended to be basic and simple with only the use of black and white. In fact
my research showed that many of the most famous and well known bands of this genre used logos similar to this in

The idea of this logo is that each letter is signed by a different member of the band as there are three members.

4. The Institution.
The way your products work as a combination and a brand affect what institution will buy into
you and distribute/promote you. What institution promotes and distributes you adds to your
brand image, a rock band will attract a more appropriate audience if distributed and
represented by an institution more related to that genre. This is why previously I conducted
research into what record label would represent my band. As you have seen I chose Atlantic
and Interscope records as I found them to be the most appropriate for my genre of music also
Interscope showed great potential for large promotion as they were a part of on of the ‘big
four’ . Once chosen these I was then able to use them not only on my Digipack but on my
magazine advertisement to show my audience they are a combination of media texts.

audience?
6. Why is a
brand image
important?
A brand image is very important it allows you to show the industry as well as the audience your identity and image
which then reflect your genre and promote your music, film etc. A brand image can determine who e.g. Buys your
products. Without a brand image it can lead to attracting a different audience than you indented who in turn will not
respond as you anticipated to your product or worse attract no audience at all. I have branded my products with the
use of a logo, colour schemes, images and costume that will appeal to my target audience.
7. Q2. How effective
is the
combination of
your main product
and ancillary
texts?
Overall I definitely believe that the combination of my main product and ancillary tasks are very effective.
There is a strong theme of colour and image through all of my products, I have considered the institution and
how that allows the products to work as a brand and combination and developed a logo that has the best
potential to combine the products to overall represent the band and their image,
