Introduction
Minerals constitute the back-bone of economic growth of any nation and
India has been eminently endowed with this gift of nature. India is a
country which is filled with different mineral raw materials like coal,iron-
ore, crued oil, ferrochrome ore, buxaite, etc. We need to make the proper
utilization of these scarce resources in order to meet our different
mineral needs may be in form of liquefied burned
    oil,iron,Alminium,Sponge iron,cupper,steel etc.
In the todays globalize business world human needs for mineral items are
increasing day by day. In order to fulfill those need and as well as to earn
profit different business organization are formed .The first mineral
company was formed in the year 1774 when East India company granted
permission to a English company at Raniganj
M/s John Taylor & Sons Ltd. started gold mining in Kolar Gold Fields in
    the year 1880
Mining activities in the country however remained primitive in nature
and modest in scale up till the beginning of the current century.
Thereafter, with progressive industrialization the demand for
and hence the production of various minerals gradually went up. After
India became independent, the growth of mining under the
impact of successive Five Year Plans has been very fast. VISA-STEEL is
famous for its stainless steel and TMT bars. These two mineral products
have created a brand image on customer, corporate business world,
    competitors, stake holders etc.

    Steel Industry Overview

6
Indian steel industry plays a significant role in the country’s economic
growth. The major contribution directs the attention that steel is having a
stronghold in the traditional sectors, such as infrastructure &
constructions, automobile, transportation, industrial applications etc.
Moreover, steel variant stainless steel is finding innovative applications
due to its corrosion resistive property. India is the fifth largest steel
producer at the global front and struggling to become the second largest
producer in the coming years.

The country has acquired a central position on the global steel map with
its giant steel mills, acquisition of global scale capacities by players,
continuous modernization & up gradation of old plants, improving energy
efficiency, and backward integration into global raw material sources

. Moreover, with the government proactive incentive plans to boost
economic growth by injecting funds in various industries, such as
construction, infrastructure, automobile, and power will drive the steel
industry in future

According to” Indian Steel Industry Outlook to 2012” the finished steel
product market have been divided into two categories - Alloy and Non-
alloy. Steels and steel made items are widely used in industry like
automotive, aerospace, marine, consumer durables, power, railways,
telecom, and housing.

Although we have got a less time to interact with the company
employees, still we came to know that maximum employees are
happy with company norms, standards, payments, relationship etc.

28
Conclusion

Although the duration of industrial visit was very short, still we have got
a very good chance to learn and gain new and abstract knowledge on
manufacturing industry. We came to know how different of skilled, semi-
skilled, unskilled employees are working with in the industry. The
Engineers are dealing with plant and production activity, Hr people are
directly related with the administrative department. The canteen system
of Visa-steel is according to its standard. The canteen is properly
managed by the canteen manager. This visit was a real time practical
exposure to manufacturing and corporate world. It would help us in
future in to a greater extent.

                                                                              29

  • 6. Introduction Minerals constitute the back-bone of economic growth of any nation and India has been eminently endowed with this gift of nature. India is a country which is filled with different mineral raw materials like coal,iron- ore, crued oil, ferrochrome ore, buxaite, etc. We need to make the proper utilization of these scarce resources in order to meet our different mineral needs may be in form of liquefied burned oil, iron,Alminium,Sponge iron, cupper, steel etc. In the todays globalize business world human needs for mineral items are increasing day by day. In order to fulfill those need and as well as to earn profit different business organization are formed .The first mineral company was formed in the year 1774 when East India company granted permission to a English company at Raniganj M/s John Taylor & Sons Ltd. started gold mining in Kolar Gold Fields in the year 1880 Mining activities in the country however remained primitive in nature and modest in scale up till the beginning of the current century. Thereafter, with progressive industrialization the demand for and hence the production of various minerals gradually went up. After India became independent, the growth of mining under the impact of successive Five Year Plans has been very fast. VISA-STEEL is famous for its stainless steel and TMT bars. These two mineral products have created a brand image on customer, corporate business world, competitors, stake holders etc. Steel Industry Overview 6
  • 7. Indian steel industry plays a significant role in the country’s economic growth.
