2017 Ambassador Leaders Community Action Plan - Leading Figures
- 1. Leading Figures Group 8: Jonathan, Berkeley, Kyla, Natalie, Hanna, Ava, Gabby, Isabelle, Myles, Riley and Hannah
- 2. Main Goal Our goal is to use mentorship to assist at risk youth through economic, family, and educational problems.
- 3. The Vision: Leading Figures - Having a caring mentor for at risk youth helps influence them to avoid risky behavior and focus on academics

Background Info on Big Brothers Big Sisters - Has existed for 100+ yrs - Realize potentials, and build futures - Positive relationships - Caring role models brought into lives of children - Impacts more than 1,500 children and youths - Big Brothers Big Sisters provide mentors to spend one-on-one time with

Single Parent and Low-Income Households U.S. has highest % of single parents 8% of male single parents unemployed 20% of female single parents unemployed 40% of single parent households live below poverty line Nearly 70% single mothers live in poverty 63% of suicides are individuals who come from a single parent family

Children Struggle ¼ of kids in America raised by single parent Single parenting = primary cause of: School failure Delinquency Twice as likely to get a divorce Drug/Alcohol use Teen pregnancy Poverty Welfare dependency Abusive or Anti-Social behavior Teens from SPHs account for 72% of teen murders + 60% rape crimes

- This graph shows the amount of single parent families over the years. Because this number has only risen this means that more and more kids have been put at risk.
- Thank you Berkeley. Our slogan for our program is spreading smiles from child to child and Ourvideo leading figures shows Riley being a bad romodel to his younger brother About school not being important. On the other hand Berkeley Hanna's dad is supporting her through our leading figures program and hanna is enjoying it. Even though hanna is getting teased by Riley about doing to program but she continuwe to do the program. Now I am passing the project to hanna to talk about our sources.
