INTRODUCTION
 A mobile phone, cellular phone, cell phone, cellphone, hand phone, or hand
phone, sometimes shortened to simply mobile, cell or just phone, is a portable
telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio frequency link while
the user is moving within a telephone service area.
 The radio frequency link establishes a connection to the switching systems of
a mobile phone operator, which provides access to the public switched
telephone network (PSTN).
 Modern mobile telephone services use a cellular network architecture and,
therefore, mobile telephones are called cellular telephones or cell phones in
North America.
 Mobile phones offering only those capabilities are known as feature phones;
mobile phones which offer greatly advanced computing capabilities are
referred to as smartphones
 A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell
phone, and a hand phone) is a phone that can make and
receive telephone calls over a radio link while moving
around a wide geographic area.
 It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by
a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public
telephone network.
 By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the
short range of a single, private base station In addition to
telephony, modem mobile Phones also support a wide
variety of other Services such as text messaging, MMS,
email, Internet access, short-range wireless
communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business
applications: gaming and photography.
 Mobile phones that offer these and more general
computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones
WHAT IS MOBILE PHONE ?
THE EVOLUTION OF MOBILE PHONE/HISTORY
 Alexander Graham Bell invented telephone and 1878
he made the first phone call.
 Motorola introduced some of its first cell phones
during the1980s.
 Those phones were completely different from the
devices we have today since from no side they were
cost effective and handy.
 The first Smartphone was developed by IBM &
BellSouth which came out to in public in 1993.
 These Smartphones are advancing at a very fast pace
and are not restricted to just internet browsing or
playing games.
 Now you can do every possible thing with these
modern handheld devices.

MOBILE MANUFACTURE AND BRANDS
 There are several mobile phone manufactures across the globe and each manufacturing
company has its own brands depending on the marketing and technological demands.
 Examples of manufacturing firms and their brands are:-
MOBILE PHONE GENERATION
 The history of the wireless communications started with the understanding of magnetic and
electric properties observed during the early days by the Chinese, Roman and Greek cultures
and experiments carried out in the 17th and 18th centuries.
YEAR Description
1880 Hertz-Radio Communication
1897 Marconi- Radio Transmission

1964 Bell telephone active research 800 MHz
1964 FCC - 450 MHz (Full Duplex)
1969 FCC - 40 MHz bandwidth
1981 FCC? release of cellular land phone in the 40 MHz
1982 At & T divested and Server RBOC (Regional Bell Operation Companies) formed to manage the
cellular operation.
1984 Most RBOC market in operations
1986 FCC allocates 5MHz extended band.
YEAR Description

1996 Six Broad Band PCS (Personal Communication Services) licensed bands (120 MHz) almost
reader 20 billion US dollar
1997 Broad band CDMA constructed and of the 3rd generation mobile.
1999 Powerful WLAN systems were evolved, such as Bluetooth. This uses 2.4 MHz spectrum.
CONCEPT OF MOBILE NETWORK TECHNOLOGY
 A cellular network or mobile network is a communication network where the last link is
wireless. The network is distributed over land areas called cells; each served by at least
one fixed-location known as base station. This base station provides the cell with the
network coverage which can be used for transmission of voice, data and others.
THE REVOLUTION OF MOBILE PHONE
 The year 2021 is here, and it also marks the start of a new decade, and a new revolution. Looking
back to the decade, we got to see many major changes in the tech industry. We have come a long
way in technology. Phone technology is one of them, with much more functions and feature
changes.
 Here are some of the changes that took place in tech during the decade:-
 3.5 inch display to 6 inch or above display phones
 60 hertz refresh rate to 90/120 hertz refresh rate
 Battery size
 Wi-Fi 4 to Wi-Fi 6
 Audio jack to no Audio jack
 Symbian to Android/iOS
 Bluetooth
 Single camera to double/triple/quad camera setup
 Media consumption
 Social media
MOBILE OPERATING SYSTEM
 According to Wikipedia
 A Mobile operating system, also known as a Mobile OS, a Mobile platform, or a
Handheld operating system, is the operating system that controls a mobile device
similar in principle to an operating system such as Linux or Windows that
controls a desktop computer or laptop.
 LIST OF MOBILE OS
 Symbian
 Android
 iOS
 RIM BlackBerry OS
 Windows 7.5
 Bada
 MeeGo (Tizen)
MOBILE NECESSARY IN TODAY'S LIFE
 Cell phones have become a necessity for many people throughout the world. The ability to keep in touch with family,
business associates, and access to email are only a few of the reasons for the increasing importance of cell phones.
 Today's technically advanced cell phones are capable of not only receiving and placing phone calls, but storing data,
taking pictures, and can even be used as walkie-talkies, to name just a few of the available options.
 When cell phones were first introduced to the public, they were bulky, expensive, and some even required a base unit
that had to be transported along with the phone.
 Good reception was a major problem and in general, early cell phones could only be used in certain locations were the
signal was particularly strong. As cell phone technology advanced, the difficult in using them became less of a
problem.
 Today, cell phone reception has improved greatly due to the use of satellites and wireless services. As cell phones
improved and became simple to use, the importance of cell phones increased accordingly.
 Cell phones are the perfect way to stay connected with others and provide the user with a sense of security.
 In the event of emergency, having a cell phone can allow help to reach you quickly and could possibly save lives.
However, the importance of cell phones goes way beyond personal safety.
 Modern cell phones are capable of internet access, sending and receiving photos and files, and some cell phones are
equipped with GPS technology, allowing for use in most locations around the world and allowing the cell phone to be
found or the user located in the event of loss or emergency.
Mobile Phone Advantages:-
 The main advantages of Mobile Phones are noted in point such as,
 Verbal or Voice Communication
 Visual Communication
 Written Communication
 Listening Communication
 Accessing internet
 Entertainment
 Portable information storage
 Pocket Calculator and Measurement
 Time Management and Alarming
 Camera and Voice Recording
 Information sharing
 A smart way of study and Learning
Mobile Phone Dis-Advantages:-
 The main disadvantages of mobile phones are noted in points such as,
 Addiction
 Distraction
 Frauds and Cyber Crime
 Health Issues
 Time Wastes
 Laziness and affects self-potential
 Increase distance in a relationship
 Risk of Privacy and Abuse
 Lose Money
 Unusable Dependency
CONCLUSION
 Mobile phones overall are a helpful invention. They allow users to access the
web and document information easily.
 Apps on the phone allow the user to do many things in the palm of their hands.
Music, pictures, and files can be carried in a pocket.
 Along with communicating through basic phone calls, voice mail, and text
messages users can send emails directly from their phones. Social networking is
made easier with applications and websites always available.
 Mobile phones act as a camera, notepad, calendar, alarm clock, and computer.
 The majority of concerns for Mobile phones have solutions making them more
of a help than a hazard.
 While smart phones have some security and social issues overall they are
devices of great utility that many people find necessary in their daily and
professional lives.
 Every good thing when abused can be harmful, so is mobile phone. Consider
when to use it, how to use it and what to use it for and just make sure you
benefit fully from the mobile phone you are having because it is the next
biggest technological device ever to hit the globe.
