SUBJECT: ALPHONSO JEFFERSON
Thank you for this opportunity to explain the wonderful relationship that has been experienced with
Alphonso Jefferson. Alphonso has served as Deputy County Administrator for the Saint Lucie County
Board of County Commissioners and has continuously demonstrated great professionalism and fostered
a collaborative atmosphere. Alphonso has been able to step into this leadership role and effectively guide
his team to accomplish great strategic objectives that have helped to catapult Saint Lucie County into one
of the most desirable places to live, work, and enjoy.
I have witnessed Alphonso utilize his excellent professional skills to reinvigorate a defunct local
professional development association into one of the strongest organizations in the area. The Treasure
Coast Chapter for the National Forum for Black Public Administrators is now deemed a highly desirable
association that provides continuous professional development, mentoring, and provides scholarships for
local students that aim to become public administrators. This was a profoundly amazing resurrection that
was all accomplished because of Alphonso’s high intensity and unwavering leadership as President. His
keen utilization of professional, motivational, and personal skills allowed him to cultivate this
organization and still perform at an exceptionally high level as Deputy County Administrator for Saint
Lucie County. Those same skills are the basis for the success that Alphonso has been able to achieve for
himself and his affiliated organizations.
Alphonso is widely known and respected as an industry professional and finds time to mentor youth in
our community. Tenacity, dependability, resourcefulness, and teamwork are the personal traits that have
allowed Alphonso to earn my respect and strong recommendation as a leader for any organization that
aspires to attain greatness.
Sincerely,
Nicholas C. Mimms, P.E., ICMA-CM
