Who needs aid?
-925 million people across the globe suffer
from malnutrition and hunger
-Half of all child deaths in developing
countries are related to malnutrition and
hunger
-The UN estimated 30 countries are in crisis
and need external assistance
3. U.S. PROGRAMS FOR SUPPLYING AID
The U.S. government can provide food
assistance through five program authorities.
1 . The Food for Progress Program
2. The McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and
Child Nutrition Program
3. The Food for Peace Act
4. Section 416(b)
5. The Local and Regional Procurement Project
