What is Asset Integrity Management (AIM)?
What is Risk Based Inspection?
o Risk Based Inspection is the application of Risk
Analysis principles to develop and manage inspection
programs for a plant.
o It functions by understanding the Deterioration
Modes and Mechanisms to develop Effective Non-
destructive Inspection Techniques to detect and moni-
tor Deterioration Rates.
o The goal of RBI is to develop Cost-effective Inspection
and Maintenance Programs that provide assurance
of acceptable Technical Integrity, Reliability and
Availability.
Why Perform Risk Based Inspection?
o There is a premise within Industry that only 10% of
Operating Equipment contributes to 90% of the RISK
Level which will need constant company attention.
o If the 10% of Operating Equipment that is Higher
Risk can be identified; Inspection, Monitoring and
Preventive Maintenance efforts can be more focused
and will result in Reduced Costs and Higher Equipment
Technical Integrity, Reliability and Availability.

Software is capable of displaying and reporting Technical Integrity, Preventive Maintenance and
Corrective Maintenance status in a colour coded Asset Hierarchy
• Determination of the Optimised Next Inspection Due Date (Preventive Maintenance) with the limit
of Half Life set by API 570 and 510.

Lloyd Alman’s EC group is well organize to carry out AIM projects An asset has integrity when it performs and is being operated and maintained as specified so that the Risk to People, Environ- ment, Assets and most importantly to Company Reputation arising from its failure is as Low as Reason- ably Practicable (ALARP). The Goal of Asset Integrity Management is to ensure that Technical Integrity is maintained, In other words, Inspection, Corrective and Preventive Maintenance be- ing performed and wrapped as planned punctually. In order to manage RBI Projects, the following disciplines are consid- ered by the GL’s EC Group: What is Asset Integrity Management (AIM)? What is Risk Based Inspection? o Risk Based Inspection is the application of Risk Analysis principles to develop and manage inspection programs for a plant. o It functions by understanding the Deterioration Modes and Mechanisms to develop Effective Non- destructive Inspection Techniques to detect and moni- tor Deterioration Rates. o The goal of RBI is to develop Cost-effective Inspection and Maintenance Programs that provide assurance of acceptable Technical Integrity, Reliability and Availability.
