2. Workshop Overview
The Exploration and Production (E&P) sector faces daily challenges in the area of operational and sub-surface data management due
to the phenomenal data volumes, the requirement for real-time data, the lack of integration (across regions, functions, and analysis
workflows), the analytical workloads, and the inability to find the right data at the right time; challenges that continue to increase as users
demand more access, analytics, and functionality. Data integrity and security is often compromised due to data duplication, data quality
issues, and the loss or misplacing of valuable corporate data. Cost and complexity continue to rise, making the job of data management
today more difficult than ever.
For the above reasons, companies need to know how and where to focus their efforts to get the most ROI, and quality data can help
companies decide this more effectively. Effective data management, whether it is on the exploration or production side, is vital to a
company’s day-to-day operations, as well as its future strategy.
This three-day highly interactive workshop is designed to provide a broad understanding of E&P data management activities, best
practices and technologies for those working in an E&P data management environment. Participants will leave this course with a thorough
understanding of data integration, information architecture, data culture and the data management issues and challenges affecting
companies. Furthermore, participants will have an opportunity to learn from real life experience through lots of case studies of frontier
exploration, seismic processed data, asset management system of exploration, production and facilities, drilling operations of land and
offshore. The course instructor is a worldwide data management practitioner, who has delivered data management services and data
improvement projects to many E&P companies, from small independents up to the super majors.

Why You Should Attend
The digital age is providing unprecedented levels of data. In fact,
data may well be the very lifeblood of today’s oil and gas company,
with steady streams of data related to all aspects of exploration,
drilling and production flowing through every artery in the corporate
network. Never before have oil and gas companies had more data
on which to base their decisions, whether selecting a drilling target
or allocating production and sales. But when it comes to achieving a
competitive advantage, the issue is not how much data a company
has at its disposal, but how it uses its data to extract value-adding
operational knowledge and business intelligence.
For that reason, data management is core to virtually any exploration
and production organization. What are the key issues today in
managing and analyzing exploration, drilling and production data?
What kinds of strategic objectives do operators have for data
management, and how are they achieving those goals? What
technologies are better enabling oil and gas companies to efficiently
extract business information from their data flows?
UNI Strategic’s three-day workshop will help you find out the answers
to the above questions. With actual case studies, group discussions
and surveys, you will come out of this course fully equipped
with best practice implementation methodologies and workflow
procedures as well as how to develop a robust data management
strategy. Furthermore, you will know how to maximize the value of
your company’s existing information technology investments, and to
assess emerging trends in data management.
