Good Stuff Happens in 1:1 Meetings: Why you need them and how to do them well

1. To whom it may concern:
I have known and worked with Alex Mummery for over eight years and consider her to
be a consummate professional and a valued colleague. I first met Alex in 2006 when I
came to work for Hunter House Publishers, where she executes the editorial and book
production processes for that award-winning firm.
Alex has a flawless eye for detail and is an absolute expert in all things related to
language and the written word. I think so much of her abilities that after I left Hunter
House in 2010, I quickly arranged for my new employer, Hanson McClain Advisors, an
investment advisory firm with $2 billion in assets, to work with her on a contract basis to
produce and edit our extensive written communications, which include books, a dozen
newsletters, blog entries, and numerous marketing and human resource materials. The
fact is that in spite of asking Alex to work on literally thousands of pages (and almost
always on a tight deadline), not only did she drastically improve each and every piece I
sent her way, she never once allowed a single grammar or spelling error to remain in
any of those materials. Not one.
In closing, I have been a writer and editor for over 20 years in both the Bay Area and
New York publishing realms. I say without hesitation that Alex Mummery is the single
most reliable and versatile writer/editor that I have ever worked with.
I encourage you to make her a part of your team and to feel completely confident in
your decision.
Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions or if I can be of service in any
way.
