1. Dark or Ethical Prince?
There is always a choice
Dr Lynne Sedgmore CBE
2. "Upon this a question arises: whether
it be better to be loved than feared or
feared than loved? It may be answered
that one should wish to be both, but,
because it is difficult to unite them in
one person, is much safer to be feared
than loved, when, of the two, either
must be dispensed with. Because this
is to be asserted in general of men,
that they are ungrateful, fickle, false,
cowardly, covetous"
The Prince p79
"Therefore a wise prince ought to hold
a third course by choosing the wise
men in his state, and giving to them
only the liberty of speaking the truth
to him, and then only of those things
of which he inquires, and of none
others; but he ought to question them
upon everything, and listen to their
opinions, and afterwards form his own
conclusions."
The Prince p114

12. “The best leaders are those their people hardly know exist.
The next best is a leader who is loved and praised.
Next comes the one who is feared.
The worst one is the leader that is despised …
The best leaders value their words, and use them sparingly.
When they have accomplished their task,
the people say, “Amazing!
We did it, all by ourselves!”
