Italy does not have a formal policy for design promotion. Instead, the government focuses on supporting innovative new firms and modernizing traditional medium firms through technology hubs and business incubators. Private, non-profit design associations also promote design through cultural debate and competitions supported by local governments. Additionally, international design fairs are held annually in Italian cities to share new ideas and products with designers, companies, investors, customers, and influencers.
