Dear Members,
Last weekend was very busy in the club; Friday Night saw the Motley Crew and guests having a
festive dinner, culminating in some impromptu shanty singing. The bar was full, as Roger and John
organised a social gathering for the Racing Fleet and friends. We also hosted an impromptu BSC
Committee Meeting – delighted we could help out. Meanwhile Iain had a practise run on his Mulled
Wine recipe – it all vanished in minutes, which bodes well for Christmas Eve. Just don’t plan on
driving home if you have a glass!
Sunday’s Club Christmas Lunch was another tuneful affair. After a delicious meal, a few Carols and
Christmas Songs were sung, culminating in an hilarious and lively rendition of the 12 Days of
Christmas…the like of the 10 Lords a Leaping I have never seen before! A big thank you goes to
Jacqui, Emma and the team, not just for another excellent meal, but for all their hard work
throughout the year. Please note, Chef Tim will also be back again in 2018 for some of our big
events. The Christmas Draw was pulled and the Lucky Winners who were not at the dinner, will be
notified. All the prizes are in the club.

2. VOLUNTEERS FOR JANUARY SHUTDOWN
Colours have been decided and the paint purchased!
Thanks to those who have volunteered so far. We are still on the lookout for more help! Please
contact Emma or Rick Wick if you any time to spare. Volunteers will be needed both during the
week and at weekends, if we are to get a fast turn- around. Please don’t be shy about helping out!
Those that have enlisted, please report to the club at 9am on Tuesday 2nd
January!
We have an ambitious programme but the more members who come and support the renovation,
the more we will achieve!
CYC Limited
The Commodore and Main Committee would like to say a big thank you to Ian Young who has
recently stepped down from his role as Director and Trustee of CYC Limited. Ian has been a
tremendous supporter of the Club and his guidance and advice will be missed. We wish him all the
best for the future.
The Flag Officers met with the Directors of CYC Limited at the weekend to up date them on progress
at the Club. The information given was in line with that shared at the Members Meeting in
November. Further progress will be reported to Members in the New Year.
Annual Subscriptions
For those with a January subscription date, invitations to renew membership of the Colne Yacht Club
will be sent out to members over the next few days. As in previous years members will be able to
pay either in a lump sum or over a 4-month period. We trust that these different payment options
will allow everyone to renew their membership.
Donations
Members will also be invited to make a contribution to the Club Reserve Fund. As stated previously
we need to work together to provide a stable long- term future for the club. All donations will be
gratefully received.
