2. Linseed Oil
• Linseed oil is a common carrier used in oil paint.
• Traditional glazing putty, consisting of a paste of chalk powder and
linseed oil, is a sealant for glass windows that hardens within a
few weeks of application and can then be painted over.
• When used as a wood finish, linseed oil dries slowly and shrinks
little upon hardening
• Boiled linseed oil is used as sizing in traditional oil gilding to
adhere sheets of gold leaf to a substrate (parchment, canvas,
Armenian bole, etc.)
• Linseed oil is used to bind wood dust, cork particles, and related
materials in the manufacture of the floor covering linoleum.
• Fresh, refrigerated and unprocessed, linseed oil is used as a
nutritional supplement and is a traditional European ethnic food,
highly regarded for its hearty taste. It contains the highest level of
the omega-3 fatty acid ALA among vegetable oils.
3. • Animal care products
• Bicycle maintenance as a thread fixative, rust inhibitor and
lubricant
• Composition ornament for moulded decoration
• Earthen floors
• Animal feeds
• Industrial lubricant
• Leather treatment
• Oilcloth
• Particle Detectors

• Wood preservation
• Cookware seasoning
4. Castor Oil
• In the food industry, castor oil (food grade) is used in food additives,
flavorings, candy (e.g., Polyglycerol polyricinoleate or PGPR in
chocolate), as a mold inhibitor, and in packaging. Polyoxyethylated castor
oil (e.g., Kolliphor EL) is also used in the food industries.
• Miconazole, an antifungal agent;
• Paclitaxel, a mitotic inhibitor used in cancer chemotherapy;
• Sandimmune (cyclosporine injection, USP), an immunosuppressant drug
widely used in connection with organ transplant to reduce the activity of
the patient's immune system;
• Nelfinavir mesylate, an HIV protease inhibitor;
• Saperconazole, a triazole antifungal agent
• Tacrolimus, an immunosuppressive drug
• Xenaderm ointment, a topical treatment for skin ulcers, is a combination
of Peru balsam, castor oil, and trypsin
5. • Aci-Jel is used to maintain the acidity of the vagina.
• Castor oil can be used as bio-based polyol in the polyurethane
industry.
• Castor oil has numerous applications in transportation, cosmetics
and pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries, for example:
adhesives, brake fluids,[ caulks, dyes, electrical liquid dielectrics,
humectants, Nylon 11 plastics, hydraulic fluids, inks, lacquers,
leather treatments, lubricating greases, machining oils, paints,
pigments, polyurethane adhesives, refrigeration lubricants,
rubbers, sealants, textiles, washing powders, and waxes.
• Castor oil has better low temperature viscosity properties and high
temperature lubrication than most vegetable oils, making it useful
as a lubricant in jet, diesel, and race car engines.
• Derivatives
• Castor oil, like currently less expensive vegetable oils, can be used
as feedstock in the production of biodiesel.
7. Olive Oil
• People have used olive oil for centuries for personal care. It is a great
skin moisturizer, in part because it contains linoleic acid, a compound not
made by the body, but which prevents water from evaporating.
• Olive oil also has benefits for hair. Comb a bit of the stuff through dry or
frizzy hair to help tame and moisturize your locks, especially in winter or
on humid days. Olive oil can also provide some relief for damaged hair.
• Olive oil is likely to be more gentle on a cat's system than petroleum-
based anti-hairball lubricants.
• Kitties aren't the only ones who can take advantage of natural lubricating
properties of olive oil (yes it can be used as a "personal lubricant," in
case you were wondering).
• Silverware, copper and other metal items can be polished with ketchup
or toothpaste. After you're done rub a bit of olive oil on to prevent
streaks, corrosion and tarnish.
• Olive oil can actually be used as a lubricant in many applications.
• Cure an Earache.
8. Chulmoogra Oil
• Chaulmoogra Essential Oil is useful in the treatment of skin diseases,
scrofula, rheumatism, eczema, as a counter irritant for bruises, sprains,
etc.
• sometimes applied to open wounds and sores.
• The essential oil contains chaulmoogric acid and palmitic acid, and the
fatty oil has been found to yield glycerol, a very small quantity of
phytosterol and a mixture of fatty acids. The ripe and fresh seeds yield
essential oil reputed to be a specific remedy against leprosy when the
disease has just started to develop.
• Chaulmoogra has been used as traditional medicine in India since
ancient times to treat Leprosy, chronic skin diseases, wounds and ulcers.
• chaulmoogra oil may be included as an active ingredient in several
lotions, creams, balms, ointment, massage oil, lip balm as well as balm
formulations for wound care.
• The bark of the chaulmoogra tree encloses tannins that are useful for
reducing fever.
9. Bees Wax
• Beeswax is used as a lubricating agent when pulling gold and other precious
metals into thin wires or strands.
• Used on screws to help prevent them from backing out.
• Beeswax is used to coat the sewing thread to strengthen it and to give it a
smooth coating so that it is less like to catch or snag material while sewing.
• Beeswax is used to fill in the seams between the pieces of slate when setting up
a pool table.
• Used to help lubricate drills and saws especially in metal fabrication. Helps
protect the cutting edges and keep them sharp.
• Beeswax is used to coat the hemp that is used on bagpipe joints and tuning
slides.
• Beeswax is the thickening agent used in herbal oils to convert them to ointments
• Beeswax is used in lip balm, lip gloss, hand creams and moisturizers; and in
cosmetics such as eye shadow, blush and eye liner.
