Software Components
• HyperCache (HPC) is licensed OCDN software deployed by the operator to provide a common
HTTP caching infrastructure for operator, operator customer, and OTT content. Intelligent cluster
technology distributes objects across commodity servers or Virtual Machines (VMs), preventing
hot spots and handling flash crowds automatically. It supports a variety of HTTP workloads,
providing whole site delivery from a single platform with no performance penalty.

AKAMAI NETWORK OPERATOR SOLUTIONS: PRODUCT BRIEF
• Request Router is a highly scalable, DNS-based content request router
that maps user requests to a high-performing CDN node and translates
host names from end-user requests into IP addresses of edge caches able
to deliver the requested online content. By combining web content server
mapping and network topology information it directs client requests to
the optimal CDN resource. The Request Router also provides DNS services
for the URLs served by the CDN.
• Intercept Service provides HTTP traffic intercept and redirect to support
caching and offload of OTT content. Requests are intercepted as they are
routed to the origin server and clients are sent to a high-performing CDN
node for delivering the request. If the CDN site has the content cached,
the chosen node returns it to the end-user. If not, it retrieves the content
from the parent peer group, caches it, and satisfies the original client
request. This component is required to support transparent caching.
• Control System is a consolidated, comprehensive portal to manage
and report on Aura LCDN, comprising content and system analytics
components. It provides operators with detailed real-time reports derived
from the traffic delivered by the CDN. The System Analytics tool
provides a highly scalable set of processing, storage, and visualization
functions that profile a wide range of statistics.
