3. ADDICTION:
It is a state characterized by compulsive
engagement in rewarding stimuli, despite
adverse consequences. It can be thought
of as a disease or biological process
leading to such behaviours.
REINFORCING STIMULI : stimuli that
increases the probability of repeating
behaviours paired with them.
REWARDING STIMULI : stimuli that the
brain interprets as intrinsically positive or
as something to be approached.
ADDICTIVE DRUG: a drug that is both
reinforcing and rewarding.
DEPENDENCE : An adapted state that is
associated with a withdrawal syndrome
upon cessation of repeated exposure to a
stimulus
4. MECHANISM:
MECHANISM:
In simple meaning we can say “
chronic high dose exposure to
psycho-stimulants increases the
concentration of dopamine {the
feel good hormone-pleasure } in
the brain- causing reinforcing
stimuli.
All addictive drugs, directly or
indirectly, acts upon the brain’s
reward system by heightening
dopaminergic activity.
5. WHERE YOU CAN FIND
THEM?
A sad question to be answered
because we can find them
everywhere.
The proportion of individuals who
develop a drug addiction within a
specified period of time, by country,
and across national population
demographics { such as age group,
socio-economic status, etc ]
6. ENCOUNTERING ADDICTS :
In our field we can
encounter these addicts in
OPD’s, staffs, or 4th grade
employee.
Talking about the 4th grade
employee’s they are
troubled in some or the
other way say financially,
emotionally or physically.
These stresses may lead to
any type of addiction. Drug,
alcohol, sex, betting
7. Management:

Motivation with
Medication with
Addiction recovery groups
Cognitive behavioural therapy
Drug rehabilitation
Let us see how each of these can help
our employeepatient to deal with hisher
addiction.
8. Management with the help of admin:
Consultation: if you come across any
such case try to solve it with ease, talk it
out {try solving the problem}. If you are not
able to do it try to send the person to a
DOCTORpsychiatrist. and keep a check
on its progress.
Motivation: it represents the reason for
people’s actions, desires, and needs.
Motivation can also be defined as one’s
direction to behavior, or what causes a
person to want to repeat a behavior and
vice versa. A motive is what prompts the
person to act in a certain way. It’s your
duty to give that person to live his life
again.
Medication: there is no effective
pharmacotherapy for any form of psycho-
stimulant addiction. But you can have
some therapeutic approaches. Such as a
common treatment option for opiate
addiction is methadone maintenance,
naltrexone has short term effect in treating
alcohol. Recently, vaccines have been
developed against cocaine, heroin,
nicotine and methamphetamine.
9. Addiction recovery groups: are voluntary associations of
people who share a common desire to overcome drug
addiction. Different groups use different methods ranging from
completely secular to explicitly spiritual method. Try sending
your employeepatient to such groups.
Cognitive behavioral therapy: is a form of psycho-therapy. It
works to solve current problems and change unhelpful
thinking and behavior.
Drug rehabilitation: is a term for the processes of medical or
psycho therapeutic treatment for dependency on
psychoactive substances. The general intent is to enable the
patient to cease substance abuse in order to avoid the
psychological, legal, social, and physical consequences that
can be caused by extreme abuse.
Being a Admin you have to keep a tab on all your
employee and have a word with them on regular
intervals.
