This presentation helps people deal with job searches that have been stalled and are no longer producing leads or any other form of results. There are many tips to get that search moving. Check it out for more info.
Who Am I….I am a hardworking guy who, like many others, found himself out of work during the economic downturn in 2010. After a long battle of wrong turns, job search strategies that led to no where, and dead end leads, I decided to take a more strategic approach to my job search. Like anything else in life, I needed to treat my search like a full-time job and create a plan that would allow me to stand out above the competition. This came in especially handy as I was in transition again in 2017. Basically, I just used the tips that I have shared with others and was out of work a total of ZERO days. Yes, I got a job offer the day after my last day at my previous job. Let me show you how I did it so you too can have a quicker landing than you would have had without my tips.
Why Am I Sharing What Helped Me…because I quickly realized that to handle an event like that is to focus on what you can control and share the experience to help others. I believe that an experience not shared is a lost opportunity in life, and that smart people learn from their mistakes and smarter people learn from other people’s experiences. Plus, I told myself that once I figured this out I would share it with others so that they too could navigate the world of unemployment. In these chapters, I show you how I did it so that you will have the confidence to make it through the process. I hope that this presentation helps you to get your next great job.

5. The next group of slides will discuss things that I believe
you can do immediately to get your job search moving if
it just
I will tell you the tip or idea and let you know why I like
it to help you in dealing with the process.
Remember, I am by no means a professional and never
claim to be. I am just giving you things as I see them to
help you to see through the ‘fog’ and get ahead in your
career.
I hope my ideas help you out and help me to end
unemployment one person at a time.
6. Stop thinking that your job search consists
of you applying for jobs endlessly behind a
computer in the house. That produces
many applications and limited results. Get
that through your head and start making
appointments to meet people for coffee.
7. Try to get informational interviews with
people so that you can refine your skills.
Whether it is in your industry or not, try get
in front of people and talk with hiring
managers even if it is unofficial. You never
know what it will lead to.
8. If you are working with a transitional
company, make them earn their money. Come
prepared for every appointment and send the
counselor an agenda for the meeting
beforehand. You drive that relationship and
quit thinking that the service has a miracle
cure. They don’t. Get it through your head that
it is on you and that you are responsible for
you. No BS. Just the way it is.
9. Take every course you can that is offered in
your unemployment office. It will keep you
busy and your mind sharp. Plus you will meet
people and feel a sense of accomplishment
which will help you to stay confident which is
just as important as any facet of this process.
Keep busy developing you any way you can
and that way you are building your skill set
and making yourself more valuable.
10. Consider consulting on short term projects for a
while and get over yourself regarding what you
won’t do. Pride can get in the way here. Don’t let
that happen to you. You may have to do that and it
keeps you moving until your next opportunity.
Perspective employers like people who did what it
took to get through the tough times as this helps
them to believe that they can come through for
that company if hired. Believe me, it is true.
11. Get a subscription to the Business Journal
publication in your city and attend all of their
events. Yes, they can be pricey but few people
in transition attend them and remember a
great way to get noticed is to be in a place of
many hiring managers with few unemployed
people to compete with. This is a HUGE tip
and will help you immensely as it helped me.
12. How updated is your LinkedIn profile. If it isn’t,
spend some time on it and make it show your
skills. Take an interest in yourself and get it
updated. Check out my LinkedIn Tips document
for lots of ways to get it noticed and request
connections with people you have worked either
in the present or in the recent past or even the
distant past. People you know will remember
you. Make a list of who these people are and ask
them to connect? Ask them to meet with you to
catch-up as well? You never know.
13. Join LinkedIn's Job Seeker Premium. You
get a free month when you join and you then
have the inside track to lots of recruiter
eyeballs. I did it and it is how I got my current
job. I am a big believer in it as you see the
newest jobs and you see the person hiring
checking your profile and its all done quickly.
Transparency is very key in this process and
this is one way to get it.
14. Do you have business cards? If you don’t,
get them. That way when you network, you
have something to give to the people you
meet. Use my Business card tip document if
you need ideas. It is one of my docs. Btw,
when you get them, make sure you get
quality stock and a quality card with a
useful layout and the proper information.
See my doc for more info.
15. Get certified and see if you can get your
unemployment office to pay for it.
Certifications give you an edge throughout
the employment process and there are
many federal programs to help you pay for
it. Ask your unemployment office for info
and if they can’t help you then go to another
office. This will take legwork but it is worth
it in the end.
16. Stay visible and stay with the process. Go to
networking events and join your local
chapter of your professional organization.
That will get you with like minded people
and get you in a place with people that talk
your language. Plus you will be around
people that are working and that is always
an easier path to a job.
17. Bite the bullet and get all of your job search
items done professionally. Get your resume
done, your LinkedIn profile done and also
create Twitter profiles, Facebook pages and
other social media items out to get the word
out. The key to this process is volume and
with it, you have a better chance to get a
job. You have to believe in yourself and
show that in all you do before someone can
believe in you.
18. Dump the stubbornness and the guilt and
the negativity in all aspects of your life.
Those emotions have no positive value and
only get in the way. You can’t focus on any
distractions. You have to focus on you. Put
the other stuff aside and yet pay forward
when you can. I tried to help everyone else
get a job when I was out because paying
forward is a fantastic way to network.
19. See if you can volunteer to help a charity or
cause using your profession as what you
offer. You never know where that will lead
and it will help you keep your skills sharp.
This process is like building a spider web.
One thread at a time. That is how you
should focus and that way the process does
not overwhelm you.
20. I want to reiterate that I am not a professional and only
providing you with things I did that helped me out
during my own job search.
I do these presentations because the job search process
has a lot to do with attitude and outlook. That’s on you.
As I say, excuses are for losers. Be a winner and take
charge. You can do it because you have done it before I
bet.
Make sure you individualize any all of the information
provided on this or any of my presentations. My ideas
are to guide you and help you to understand concepts.
21. Come join the LinkedIn group that I recently
created. It is called the Anthony Hines Job
Search Survival Group. It’s a unique group
because the people in it really support and
help each other to get their next opportunity.
Just log into LinkedIn.com, go to groups and
join the above named group. People really
seem to find it useful and I check in often as
well. Come join today.
22. If you want to quickly increase your LinkedIn
connection total, including many recruiters, go to
http://www.TopLinked.com/a/?a=182790 .

explode. I caution that if you are not ready for a
substantial amount of LinkedIn connection requests
especially from recruiters, you may not want to sign
up and believe me it doesn’t stop. They keep coming.
Now if you want that type of traffic and want many
more contacts guaranteed, please use the above link
for quick service.
23. Got great professional skills and experience
that you can share with a company that needs
help? You may want to consider Maven. This
company has a list of many requests for
information or experience that maybe you
could answer and pick up some cash on the
side while doing it. Plus, you can tell your
friends about it and make some cash if they
signup . Check out this link for more
information.
