A critical limiting factor that often contributes to decreased yields is insufficient support of the plant’s reproductive functioning. Two reproductive processes are key to bigger yields — bud initiation and pollination. In addition, plants need enough of the right nutrients to keep from aborting the increased fruit set. We often see plants dropping as much as 75% of their blossoms and immature fruit. We observe this so often that we begin to accept it as a set of normal circumstances, but it can be prevented.
