When is present first and past at the second part of the conditional sentence is a mixed
conditional two tenses at the same phrase.
Rules:
1. When we want to talk about the past consequence of situation that is still true at the
time of speaking, we use the simple past in the if clause and would / wouldn’t + have
+ third (conditional perfect) in the main clause.
Example:
If I had found a holiday job, I would have earned some money.
2. When we want to talk about the present consequence of a past action, we use the
past prefect in the if clause and a second (conditional) in the main clause.
Example:
He would have been able to found a holiday job, If they were lazy.
