Energy consumption
Bathtub vs Shower
If you take a shower for about 5
minutes you will use about 60 liters of
warmwater (approximately 40 °C). The
energyamount is about 2.2 kWh
(kilowatthours).
Taking a bath instead will be a lot more
energy-consuming beacuse you will
use three times more water and
energy, namely 6.6kWh and 180 liters
of water, that’s a pretty big difference.
According to our source it will cost a
regular family ( 4 people) 4015
swedish crowns ( about 400€ ) if every
member want to shower 5
minutes/day. These numbers will only
be correct if the electricity price is 5
penny/liter.
Take a shower or a bath?
Calculations
2.2kWh/5minutes = 0.44kWh/hours
60liters/5minutes =12liters/minute
12liters and 0.44kWh/minute
0,44kWh/12liter ≈0,037kWh/liter
If you take a shower for 5 minutes you will use 60
liters of water. And if you are 4 members in a family
it will look like this:
60liters x 4people = 240liters for 4 people to take a
5minutes shower every day !
240liters x 365 days ( one year ) = 87 600 liter/year
87 600 liter costs 4015
87600liter/4015swedish crowns ≈22 (21.81818181)
liter/swedish crowns!
22 liter costs ≈ 0.12 €
You can warm up 22 liters water to 40°C for 0.12 €
One flight to Thailand and back!
Did you know that…
one flight with Boening 787 = 0.29 kWh/personkm
It’s 8107 km to Thailand so 0.29kWh/personkm x
8107 km = 2351.03 kWh/person to Thailand ≈
2400kWh/person
One flight to Thailand and back again (from
Stockholm to Bangkok) =
2400kWh x 2= 4800kWh/person
6.6kWh for a bath 180 liters warm water and
4800kWh for a trip to Thailand and back again. (from
Stockholm)
4800/6.6≈727.272727≈727 ≈ 727 bath
If you won’t go to Thailand for vacation you can fill
your bathtub 727 times with the same amount of
energy!
Thai Air!
