The film "Operation Croak" challenged conventions by casting actors in non-traditional roles. The main hero, Juber, was played by an actor who usually plays villains. This was done to positively portray the hero's ethnicity. The main villain was French instead of the expected Asian, German, or Russian ethnicity. Filming took place in a classroom to resemble a high-tech briefing room, and outside at a council estate to give the film an urban feel representative of a modern terrorist attack.
