2. Conversación Básica
➢ Persona A: Hola Tom; ¿Que te gusta hacer?
➢ Persona B: Me gusta ir a la escuela y
practicar deportes. ¿Que te gusta hacer?
➢ Persona A: Me gusta pasar tiempo con
amigos y escuchar música. Hasta luego!
➢ Persona B: Nos vemos!

3. Mi Escuela
➢ Yo soy una estudiante en Costa Rica. En mi horario, tengo la clase de
español; la clase de historia; la clase de matemáticas; y la clase de
arte. Mi clase de español empieza a las hora nueve y cuarto; y
termina a las hora diez y cuarto. Mi clase de historia empieza a las
hora diez y veinte; y termina a las hora once y veinte. Mi clase de
matemáticas empieza a las hora once y media; y termina a las hora
doce y media. Mi clase de arte empieza a la hora uno; y termina a las
hora dos.

4. La Casa
➢ Vivo en una casa en el campo; y la casa es
lejos de la ciudad. La casa es cerca de una
bosque y río. Mi casa es barata, vieja, roja, y
es de ladrillo. En mi recámara allí una es
estante de libros, una cama, y una cómoda.
Mi dirección es calle Breckenridge número
veintiuno veinte y nueve.

5. Mi Familia
➢ En mi familia allí es mi madre; mi padre; y yo. Mi madre es alta;
trabajadora, y simpática. Mi padre es bajo, sociable, y generoso.
Yo soy baja, impaciente, y talentosa. Mi madre tiene cuarenta y
uno años; mi padre tiene cuarenta y cuatro años. Yo soy tiene
diez y seis años. Mi madre es una policía y mi padre es un
empresario.

6. El Tiempo Libre
➢ Yo cuidar a mi hermano menor los
lunes, miércoles, y viernes. Los
martes y jueves me gusta practicar
deportes. Me encanta jugar al
baloncesto y hockey. Los sábado yo
estar con mi familia. Los domingo yo
ir a la iglesia.

7. La Comida
➢ Durante el desayuno como los huevos, tostadas, y bebo jugo
de naranja. Durante el almuerzo como la pizza y bebo el
refresco. Yo prefiero como una la merienda, una fruta, antes
de la cena. Durante la cena como los espaguetis y la sopa de
verduras; y yo bebo limonada.

8. De Compras
➢ En la primavera yo llevo una camisa, una
falda, y zapatos. En el verano yo llevo
una el vestido y zapatos. En el otoño yo
llevo una camiseta, vaqueros, una gorra,
y zapatos. En el invierno yo llevo una
suéter, una abrigo, los pantalones, las
medias, y zapatos.

★ Persona B: Hola, soy de Carolina del Norte. ¿De dónde eres?

12. Mi Escuela
★ En mi clase en Carolina del Norte; hay una mapa, una reloj, una
bandera, una pizarra, y un escritorio. En la clase en Costa Rica; hay
una ventana, una sacapuntas, una reloj, y un escritorio.

13. La Casa
★ La casa en Carolina del Norte es grande, azul, y es de vinilo. La casa
en Costa Rica es pequeña, amarilla, y es de madera.

14. Mi Familia
★ En Costa Rica ellos celebrar con las velas, los globos, y la piñata. En
Carolina del Norte ellos celebrar con el pastel, las decoraciones, y los
globos.

15. El Tiempo Libre
★ En Carolina del Norte ellos jugar al fútbol americano. En Costa Rica
ellos jugar al fútbol.

16. La Comida
★ Mi favorito comida en Carolina del Norte es el helado. Mi favorito
comida en Costa Rica es la sopa de verduras.

★ En el supermercado en Carolina del Norte; yo puedo comprar el champú,
el jabón, y la medicina. En el supermercado en Costa Rica; yo puedo
comprar la loción, el perfume, la medicina, y maquillaje.

19. What differenceshave you seenbetweentheSpanish language and your native
language?
➢ One difference I have seen between the Spanish Language andmy language is that
some letters inthe Spanish alphabet have accent marks onthem. Forexample, the
letters á, é, í,ó,ú, and ñ,allhave accents marks.
➢ Spanish also doesn’t have any apostrophe ‘s’.
➢ Another difference is that inthe Spanish languageyou do notcapitalizethe months of
the year, forexample: enero andjulio, January and July.

20. What did you findinteresting andexciting about the Costa Ricanculture?
➢ What Ifound interestingand excitingabout CostaRicancultureis the similarities
betweentheircultureand my culture.Some similarities are howweprotectour
property, likehaving fencesorbarbed wirefences around our houses. Another similarity
may be howweshorten our textby abbreviating words. Another similarity may be that
wewillkeepleftoverfood touse forthe next day’s meal. But oneof my favorite
similarities betweenmy cultureand the Costa Ricancultureis the music, the music is
verydiversein both cultures.

21. What do you hope to learn if you continue to study the Spanish language?
➢ What I hope tolearn ifI continuestudying the Spanish Language is ifother Spanish
speakingcountries use the same words forthe same object, people, orphrases asthe
Spanish spoken inCosta Rica. What I mean by this, forexample, dopeople inSpainuse the
word“paciente” forpatient, oris there also another wordused forpatient inSpain?
➢ Something else I hope toget better at andcontinuetolearn about inthe Spanish language
is how tocorrectly pronounce words. I say this because sometimes I stillhave issues saying
words because they sometimes looklikethe English version of the Spanish word.

22. Whatdidyou likeaboutthecourse?
➢ What I liked about this course isthat I had time to study and understand the content that I
was learning. I say this because all assignments were due the Fridayof the week they were
assigned, which gave me extra time to study the vocabulary, practice on hablar
assignments before I turn them in, and work gradually on bigassignments, like the
Actividad Cultural.

23. What did you not like and/or what could be improved?
➢ What Ithink that can beimprovedisallowing somemore interactionsbetween
students.Iunderstandit’sdifficult to do that online butIthink there could have
beenmore hablar audio discussionwithinthe unit.

24. What things did you do that helped you learn Spanish in this course?
➢ Things I didthathelped me learn Spanish in this course wasI studied the vocabulary alot.I
would gothrough the notes forthe individuallessons, listen to the words being said and
then dothe practice matching inthe notes. My parents would also help me with studying
the vocabulary. I also would ask my teacher when I wasconfused on something, andthen
she wouldhelp me by explainingit.

25. What things can you do to improve your own Spanish learning in the
future?
➢ Something I candoto improvemy own Spanish learningforthe future ismaybe get
a beginnerSpanish learningbookor I could also downloadanappon my phone or
tablet that canhelp me learn Spanish.

26. What thingsdidyour instructor do to help you with your learning?Was there
anythingthat your instructor didn'tdo that would havehelped you?
➢ My instructor wouldhelp me alot with my Spanish learning,in my opinion.IfI
mispronounced something inoneof the speaking assignments then she wouldnot only
listthe words but leave an audio fileof her sayingthe words.If I misspelled a wordorif
something wasincorrect inmy writing assignments then she would leave feedback onthe
document tellingmemy errors andtellingme how tofix it.She also was available by text
andwould respond quickly to my questions.
➢ I personally thinkthat there wasn’tanythingmy instructor didn’tdotohelp me with my
learning.
