October 2011 until end of February 2012 to act as Team Leader for the:

Mid Term evaluation of the Regional Initiative in Support of Vulnerable Pastoralists and Agro-
Pastoralists in the Horn of Africa
The Contract was carried out to the complete satisfaction of ourselves, The Consortium
Leader (Transtec) and the European Delegation in Kenya.
Our collaboration with Mr Aart Van der Heide was highly successful at both professional and
interpersonal levels. His relation with the Junior expert as well as all the key actors met in the
field and HCL’s team was very good and the EC was highly satisfied with the Final Report
submitted at the end of the mission. His prior substantial experience in Africa was also very
helpful in terms of logistics and organisation of the technical aspects of this long and difficult
mission. All reports were submitted within the deadlines and the content was of high quality.
