1. I note with pride and am pleased to commend you for your performance of duty while
assigned to coast Guard sector san Diego from July 2011 to August 2013. As an
Ope-rations Unit controller, you stood over 230 watches where you aggressively responded
ti lZ Search and Rescu. ."r.r, assisted 109 people in distress and saved $13'8001000 in
property. Additionally, you helped manage response efforts in 31 law enforcement cases
,r,d foo. surge operations that led to the seizure of over 5,500 pounds of marijuana with a
street value o1ore. $22,000,000. On April 25,2012,you received an email from the Search
and Rescue Regional Coordination Center (RCC) Falmouth, United Kingdom reporting
the yacht CLIppER VENTURE SIX requesting a Medevac 410 nautical miles west of
california. The cLIppER VENTURE SIX had three passengers suffering from various
injuries following a steering casualty during a storm. Demonstrating superb operational
expertise, you coordinated *itn ncc Falmouth, RCC Alameda, cGC BERTHOLF and
Sector San Diego,s ready MH-60 crew to plan and execute a successful medical evacuation
of 3 injured passengers. In October 2012, you were hand selected to lead a project for the
Maritime Informaiion for Safety and Law Enforcement (MISLE) case review. You
reviewed 510 cases, identified 724 discrepancies, conducted a complete rebuild of 95 Search
and Rescue cases and identified seven areas within the training program to improve
MISLE data entry processes. During the 2013 Command Center Standardization Team
evaluation, your it-r,g commitment to teamwork and overall professionalism directly
contributed to the Operations Unit Knowledge Evaluation score of 85Vo and a Practical
Evaluation score of 99Vo, both well above the Coast Guard average.
2. You are commended for your outstanding performance of duty. By your meritorious
service you have upheld the highest traditions of the United States Coast Guard.
3. You are hereby authorized to wear the Commandant's Letter of Commendation
Ribbon Bar, Gold Star in lieu of a second. The Operational Distinguishing Device is
authorized.
