- Every liter sold actually uses 3 liters of water because manufacturing PET plastic uses two times the amount each water bottle will hold. In an Earth running dry, this is something we should all be thinking about. The plastic bottle does not degrade, it becomes a permanent part of our Mother Earth! A steep price to pay for the “convenience” of bottled water.
- based on the star rating of vehicles in the Federal Government’s Green Vehicle Guide <www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au> will be lower than for vehicles which emit high levels of greenhouse gas and air pollution.
- Possible locations upper campus car park, and on the lower campus near D11 the location of the decommissioned compost facility and bore water treatment plant. UNSW’s Bike Campus map: www.facilities.unsw.edu.au/Maps/pdf/Kensington_Bicycle_Map.pdf displays a small number of showers however these are not very accessible. Other than the showers in the Gym, the showers are all in male toilets. The Gym showers are not convenient for students and staff reaching upper campus. Macquarie University opened two Bike Hubs just like this in April 2010. See <www.mq.edu.au/transport/bike_hub.html >.
