3. INTRODUCTION
Stress management is a wide spectrum of
techniques and psychotherapies aimed at
controlling a person's level of stress,
especially chronic stress, usually for the
purpose of improving everyday
functioning. In this context, the term
'stress' refers only to a stress with
significant negative consequences,
or distress in the terminology advocated
by Hans Selye, rather than what he
calls eustress, a stress whose
consequences are helpful or otherwise

Stress- Stress is a feeling that people
have when they are struggling to
cope with challenges related to
finances, work, relationships,
environment, and other situations.
Moreover, stress is felt when an
individual perceives a real or
imagined challenge or threat to a
their well-being. People often use
the word stress interchangeably with
anxiety, feeling anxious, fearful,
nervous, overwhelmed, panic, or
stressed-out.

According to American
Psychological Association (APA),
there are 3 different types stress
— acute stress, episodic acute
stress, and chronic stress. The 3
types of stress each have their
own characteristics, symptoms,
duration,
and treatment approaches

Acute stress reaction (also
called acute stress disorder,
psychological shock, mental shock,
or simply shock) is a psychological
condition arising in response to a
terrifying or traumatic event, or
witnessing a traumatic event that
induces a strong emotional
response within the individual

7. Episodic Stress
Acute stress that is suffered too
frequently is called episodic stress. This
type of stress is usually seen in people
who make self-inflicted, unrealistic or
unreasonable demands which get all
clamoured up and bring too much stress
in their attempt to accomplish these
goals. Episodic stress is not like chronic
stress, though, because this type of
stress ceases from time to time yet not
as frequently as acute stress does.

8. Chronic Stress
Chronic stress is the total
opposite of acute stress; it’s
not exciting and thrilling, but
dangerous and unhealthy.
Chronic stress tears the life
of a person apart his mind,
body or spirit.

9. Effects of Stress
• A major step to get rid of stress is the awareness of your stress
through your body's signals.
• Make a list of any physical symptoms that encounters you whenever a
unexpected event occur, it could be one or more of these signs:
• Sweating ,Cold extremities , Vomiting, nausea ,Diarehea, Muscle
tension ,Dry mouth , Confusion ,Frustration ,Anxiety, nervousness
,Irritability, impatience , Panic ,Hostility, aggression
