2. Structure of the passive voice.
The passive voice is formed with the auxiliary verb "to be" and the past participle of the verb.
Subject + auxiliary verb ("to be") + past participle.
--PASSIVE VOICE is when the action that executes the verb is redeemed by a complement (agent complement) and not by
the agent subject of the verb in active voice.
For example: “Buenos Aires was founded by Pedro Mendoza”.
--ACTIVE VOICE is when the action of the verb is produced by the subject.
For example: “Pedro de Mendoza founded Buenos Aires”.
3. Use of the passive voice.
The passive voice is formed when we want to give more importance to the action that has happened, removing the importance to whom
it has realized the action. Or when we do not want to say who has realized the action.
1- The direct object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence.
2- The principal verb is replaced by the auxiliary verb "to be", in the same time, joining it to the principal verb in the
shape of participle.
3- The subject of the sentence is transformed into the agent complement of the passive sentence.
4- If in the sentence has subject that realizes the action (agent subject), he will preceded "normally" by the preposition
("by").
Example The new stadium will be completed before of a year.
The letter had been written by Cooper.
