U.S. Federal Government Struggles
The White House and congressional leaders still have not reached a deal to avert a government
shutdown. The United States Federal Government lately has been in trouble with how much debt they
are involved with, which is causing this potential shutdown. The National Debt is 13.7 trillion, to explain
how large that debt is, Dr. Csplar did a calculation saying that, “if a person would get a penny every 5
minutes for how many years since the Big Bang Theory, the debt still would not be able to be paid off”.
The gov’t is spending sustainably more than what they are taking in.
In a result of the lack of revenue, the U.S. Gov’t has been borrowing money from China to avoid
a gov’t shutdown. There are two major issues with owning money to China. First, fewer things will be
built because there will be less money to be spent, and the high interest rates, but the economy in the
country will decrease. The second and most important is that China will basically own the United States
and their movements. If the U.S. does anything to upset China, they will cut off all the money we are
borrowing from them. In conclusion, the United States Government must fix this tragic economic
situation before there is something much worse than a government shutdown.
