- $10.34 billion is a near record from a couple of years ago which included toll bridges in San Francisco. 648 contracts ongoing statewide.Click111 contracts in D-7 valued at $1.4 billion. Does not include the $731 million at the 405 Sepulveda Pass, design build project, that we co-administer or other projects we oversight. 35 contracts ongoing in D-8 valued at $496.8 million. Southern Cal is $3.34 billion. Does not include local administered contracts such as the 405 design build project. $1 billion = 18,000 jobs. Contracts run from tens of thousands of dollars for minor b projects to install mbgr, rumble strips, curb and gutter work. Minor B’s are under $250,000. To $151,310,000 for the I-10 rehab project. $120,594,192 at the 5/170 when we were getting real good prices. The bids don’t appear to be as aggressive as last year or so when we could get 16 bids and 30 – 40 % below engineer’s estimates. Maybe the market has turned around or contractors were realizing they can’t continue bidding so low. Most bids are still below the EE, and maybe 8 or 10 bidders.

It use to take a lot of work to verify disadvantage business participation, good faith efforts, etc, now with the postings, bidder no. 2 does the work for us. The number of objections shows a lot of scrutiny and competition. 7 Caltrans design build to date 10/605 interchange HOT lanes on 10 and 110 Devore I/CPresidio project approach to Golden GateCCPSC has committees on Small Business, Storm Water, and Sustainability.
