1. TIPS
TO
STUDY
A
FOREIGN
LANGUAGE
1. STUDY
EVERY
DAY!
A
foreign
language
course
is
different
from
any
other
course
you
take.
Language
learning
is
cumulative:
you
cannot
put
it
off
until
the
weekend.
Revise
constantly
be
opening
your
notebook
and
book
once
in
a
while.
2. DISTRIBUTE
YOUR
STUDY
TIME
in
15-‐
to
30-‐minute
periods
throughout
the
day.
Focus
on
a
different
task
each
time:
vocabulary
now,
grammar
next,
etc
3. ATTEND
AND
PARTICIPATE
IN
EVERY
CLASS-‐-‐even
if
you
are
not
well
prepared.
Class
time
is
your
best
opportunity
to
practice.
4. SET
PERSONAL
GOALSFOR
WHAT
YOU
WANT
TO
LEARN.
5. TRY
TO
USE
ENGLISH
OUTSIDE
CLASS.
If
you
like
movies
or
series
watch
them
without
subtitles.
You
may
also
profit
from
youtube
or
even
a
sports
channel
in
English.
If
you
are
into
songs,
find
look
for
the
lyrics
and
the
expressions
you
are
not
familiar
with.
It’s
a
great
way
to
learn
new
vocabulary.
6. KEEP
A
RECORD
OF
VOCABULARY
LEARNT.
Organise
it
according
to
topics
or
phrasal
verbs,
verb
patterns,
idioms,
etc.
7. STUDY
IN
GROUPS
FOR
TESTS.
You
can
use
the
language
whilst
trying
to
incorporate
new
vocabulary
while
speaking.
Your
peers
can
provide
feedback.
8. STUDY
OUT
LOUD
since
you
are
profiting
from
your
visual
and
your
auditory
memory.
You
may
also
do
flashcards
to
remember
vocabulary.
On
one
side
you
write
the
word
and
on
the
other
side
its
definitions.
It
helps
using
different
colours.
9. READING
IS
A
GOOD
WAY
TO
IMPROVE.
Find
a
topic
you
like
and
research
it.
Make
sure
you
pay
attention
to
new
expressions
while
reading.
It
may
be
magazine
or
newspaper
articles
or
a
book.
10. PRACTICE
MAKES
PERFECT.
Try
to
practice
with
a
native
speaker
or
somebody
that
is
also
trying
to
learn
English.
Thanks
to
the
internet
and
social
networks
that
is
very
easy
to
do.
11. WORD
OF
THE
DAY.
Try
to
learn
a
new
word
or
expression
each
day
and
use
it
in
a
sentence
later
that
day
or
in
class.
12. THE
DICTIONARY
IS
YOUR
FRIEND.
Make
sure
you
use
it
regularly
to
look
for
meaning
of
words.
2. 13. HAVE
FUN.
Find
something
that
makes
you
happy
related
to
the
language,
it
could
be
interacting
with
others,
playing
videogames,
watching
films,
reading
or
listening
to
music.
