To inculcate the
habit of using
eco-friendly
means of transport
in daily life
To make the
lifestyle
sustainable in
context of
transport
To educate people
about the benefits
of using public

3. Conception of the Idea
• We are doing Rural Management from IRMA.
• Near our college, there was issue of small distance commute.
Autos were the only available option.
– They used to charge high tariff for small distances.
– We need to hire the auto for going to any place.
• It was not only wasting our money but also giving us the
feeling of damaging our environment.
• So, we decided to come up with cycling club, which enabled
students to travel small distance with bicycle at cheap rates
along with saving the GHG emission that would have taken
place otherwise.
4. Service Plan
• The idea is to open cycling club in residential
colleges/societies, where small distance local transport is an
issue.
• With the use of cycles for commuting small distances, users
will not only save money but also improve their health and also
help environment by stopping emission of carbon and many
other pollutants while transportation.
• The amount of carbon dioxide that is saved will be calculated
from a dedicated mobile app made by us and rewards will be
given to college/societies and students/residents.
• The complete maintenance of the cycling club will be taken
care us.
5. Flow of the Plan
Incentive
• Rewarding students who saves maximum CO2 from emission.
• Environmental NGO like Greenpeace will incentivize college
with awards, certificates etc. for taking part in this good cause.
Cycling Club
in college
• Students will be making entry about the usage in the common
log book.
• Report of usage of students on monthly basis
Carbon
Emission
Calculation
• The amount of CO2 saved from getting emitted will be
calculated with the help of the mobile application.
• This analysis will be done at student level and college level.
6. Stakeholders’ Analysis
GoGreen
College
• Initiator of the
project
• Encouragement to
students
• Help our agency in
implementing it
Students
• The one who will
actually use the facility
• Should be motivated to
contribute in saving
environment
Environmental NGO*
• Encouragement/enga
gement to/with
college by different
means
Our Organization
• Providing cycles for
the club and its
maintenance.
• Mobile Application
Provider
7. Financials - Breakeven Analysis
• Assuming there are 500 students in a college and only 200 showed interest
in the project.
– Total number of bicycle 10.
– Non-Refundable membership fee charged from student is ₹200.
– Hourly charge for usage will ₹5 for members and ₹10 for non- members.
– Assuming each is used for 6hrs everyday. So, on average earning per cycle is
₹40/day
• Breakeven Period:
– Revenue from cycling fare = ₹40/day * x days * 10 cycles
– Expenditure = ₹2500 * 10 (Fixed Cost for Cycles) + ₹50* x days
(Maintenance Cost)
– So, 400 x = 25000 + 50 x => x = 70days.
– So, we will attain breakeven in nearly 70days.
• Revenue from Membership fee = ₹ 40,000 is not considered. This is not
included in calculating the financials.
8. Financials – Annual Basis
Parameters Figure
Revenue:
a. Annual Revenue from cycling
Rs. 5,00,000
(250 days * 50 cycles* Rs.40/cycle-day)
b. Revenue from membership fee
Rs. 2,00,000
( 200members/clg*5clg*Rs.200/member)
Expenditure:
a. Fixed Cost Rs. 1,25,000 (50 cycles*Rs.2500/cycle)
b. Variable Cost
Rs. 1,25,000
(5clg* 250days* Rs.100/day-clg)
Other Operating Cost Rs. 1,00,000
Profit Rs. 3,50,000
Tax (30%) Rs. 1,05,000
Profit After Tax Rs. 2,45,000
Assumptions
1. Number of colleges is 5 for 1st year
2. Number of working days in an year is 250
9. Scale of Benefits – Annual Basis

CO2 saved from Emission
( in ‘000kg)
Time taken by 1000tree to

Money Saved per user (in

Total No. of hours cycles are used annually = 250 days* 6hrs/day* 50 cycles =
75,000hrs
Assuming the average speed of cycling to be just 10kmph, total distance
travelled annually on bicycle is 7.5 lakhs km.
Apart from it, each user will also burn 260 calories weekly

10. Benefits of GoGreen
• Benefits to Students:
– Time and money saved in commuting
– Health will improve as they are burning calories in cycling
– Sense of ownership and contribution as they are working towards
decreasing the rate of global warming and pollution.
– Awards/certificates for saving carbon dioxide from emission.
• To College:
– Appreciation from the educated sector of society for motivating this
environment friendly step.
– College will prove that “It not only preaches but also practices the good
deeds”.
– Recognition/Awards/certificates from various agency whose mission will
link with this project.
11. Benefits of GoGreen
• To NGOs
– A project will get added to the NGOs work profile as they are taking
part in encouraging colleges/students via cycling club.
– Addition of project will enhance their visibility in the society and they
will earn some ‘Brownie Points’ for this step.
• It might lead to better grant/funding from donors.
12. “One big misconception we have is that
whatever we are doing environment is getting
affected but in reality, we are getting affected.
Environment is going to be there, we are the one
who will get extinct if we chose not to change in
our lifestyle.”
