3. A Brief History Stagemad Theatre Company was set up in Waterford City in May 2005. The aim of their theatre company is the cultivation of theatre, supporting new local, national and international writing and to encourage public appreciation of the Arts.
4. Since its formation Stagemad has established itself as one of Waterford’s most enthusiastic and energetic companies producing quality theatre with an innovative and fresh approach. Stagemad Theatre Company has proved that they can approach controversial subjects that other theatre companies would be reluctant to produce.
6. Aims: To cultivate a love of theatre in all sections of our community. To make theatre accessible to as wide an audience as possible. To research plays that are audience friendly.
7. Objectives: To keep productions to the standard that Stagemadhave achieved in such a short time. To support local playwrights. To draw from the wealth of talented actors in the locality.

11. Are You the Wife of Michael Cleary? Written by: New York playwright Gino Dilorio.Venue: Abymill Theatre, Fethard, Co.TipperaryDate: May 2006
12. Summary:Mr.Dilorio, Professor of theatre studies at Clark University, New York became interested in the story of the burning of the last witch in Ireland. He was awarded a bursary to come to Clonmel,Co.Tipperary to research the story. He was so impressed with the knowledge of the people in the area of a story which had happened almost a century earlier that he decided to write the play. Mr.Diloriogave Stagemad the exclusive rights to produce his play. It was fitting that the world premiere was performed by Stagemad at the Abymill Theatre, Fethard, Co.Tipperarywhich is not far from where the incident occurred. Mr.Dilorio attended this performance. The Munster Express/Dooley's Hotel Southeast Culture/Heritage AwardStagemadTheatre Company's Founder/Artistic Director James Power received The Munster Express/Dooley's Hotel Southeast Culture/ Heritage Award at a reception in Dooley's Hotel recently.In presenting this award to James, Dermot Keyes of the Munster Express said this was in appreciation of Stagemad’s commitment to Waterford city and county’s playwrights old and new. This year Stagemad celebrate five years as one of Waterford’s most progressive theatre companies. In the five years they have travelled to the Irish Arts Centre New York City with “Are You the Wife of Michael Cleary?”James said on receiving the award “we will continue to provide high quality theatre to the people of Waterford city and county.” This is a well deserved award for a local man’s theatre company. Well done to all concerned.
