4. Image Progression
From my preliminary task to my final production I think I
improved in may areas, for example the way I used the camera
by using the different shutter settings aloud me to produce a
higher quality and better defined image. By using tutorials and
advice from others I was able to do this successfully and
overcome any issues. In the same way I used tutorials in order
to find out how to properly edit my images as well.
In order to progress well and produce a quality production I
used more research and consideration to produce the images
on my final product. My focus group as seen previously also
aloud me to develop my production in order to make it
effective. For example from my preliminary task where the
image is quite dull to my production picture the image is now a
lot brighter with a better contrast and creates a better effect all
together reflecting a higher quality brand.
5. Mast Head Progression
From my preliminary task to my production my mast
head improved dramatically. This was due to not only
the font style but also the positioning of it overall my
pages. I used the same style font in order to create a
house style, ‘Broadway’, this helped me to establish a
unique and effective house style. As the mast head is
the main focal point of a page along with perhaps the
image it was important for me to develop it from my
preliminary task significantly in order to achieve a
professional look that suited my genre as well. My
preliminary task mast heads did not reflect any style
however or any particular genre of music and instead
were very plain and random however when
progressing to my main production I felt that these
mast heads did reflect the style well and was
appropriate for my audience

6. Layout Progression
My layout I feel has improved from my preliminary in the
design of my pages as demonstrated on the right with my
contents page. A reason for this is I think that I have added
sub heading ad also used different font styles and sizes in
order to distinguish them as separate pieces of text. The text
for example on my double page spread has been arranged in
columns to allow my audience to navigate and understand the
text and which category they are interested in and fulfils the
needs of the audience for example the informative needs. The
layout fro my contents page also progresses well as I swapped
which way round the images would go to the text as this was
more conventional and suited they style and design of the
age better making it more appealing and attractive to the
reader. I also only chose to use one image here rather than
using several as I did on my preliminary contents page as I
thought that this particular image created enough impact on
its own and also fitted into the page and design well and
aloud me to create a shape template to fit my text around.
7. Font Style Progression
In progression of my preliminary tasks to my final production I was ble to
understand styles more and how these can be used to reflect the style and
genre of magazine. This was achieved through my research of codes and
conventions of existing media products. For the majority of the font I either
used ‘Broadway’ if it was a mast head or page number , while most of the
other text was written in ‘TW Condensed Arial’. This was because these font
styles help to reflect my theme while also conforming and developing
conventions. Continuing from this, the size of my font in my final production
was very different from my preliminary task in which they don’t vary that
much ad was not taken into account as much as in my final piece. As
demonstrated in my final production where I have varies and used different
style font this has allowed me to create a more realistic look and also adapt
my layout and creativity. It also lets me establish with the audience through
preferred reading which part of the text is more relevant and which parts are
important , for example on my double page spread where I have written the
word ‘EXCLUSIVE’ in capitals shows thee reader that this is important and
creates a direct impact and draws their attention of the reader to it compared
to other areas of text that is present on the page.
8. To Conclude…
My final production had progressed greatly compared to my preliminary task , this was due to the fact that I
had developed and used a lot of new skills in digital technology and learnt how to use other tools and
software's in order to create my production and give a more professional look and one that appealed and
suited my target audience. These new techniques I had learnt ranged from lighting to camera techniques
and settings as well as using tools on Photoshop. My progression varied from the quality and design of my
images to the style and layout of my text and fonts. My images were thy key aspect as to what I felt that
improved upon and is what allowed me to make my production look professional and to a higher quality by
being ble to now manipulate and edit them in previously spoken about ways.
In order to be able to do this however research was a key aspect so that I was able to gain a more in-depth
knowledge and understanding on how to appropriately and effectively edit my pictures in order to suit the
style of my magazine. In turn this allowed me to create a more realistic outcome and one that suited my
target audiences tastes . Without this being achieved my final production may to have had the same impact
and would perhaps not satisfy my target audience and their needs.
