theatre has amazing reclining

S: Did you hear about Sunill’s
engagement? He told about it
yesterday!
Think of the situation when
you were cut off in a mid sentence.
How did you feel?
What Went Wrong?
S: I have a problem with my boss. He always
takes out his anger on me & yells at me for
every thing.
A: oh; really?
S: Yes, just the other day I was sitting at my
desk. He came & for no reason at all told me
that I need to do my job better.
A: (Glances quickly at her watch) Oh really?
That’s bad.
S: Umm……yeah, that is all.
A: Okay. So do you want to see a movie later
on?
Think of the situation when you were saying something
& your listener was not paying any attention.
How did you feel?
What Went Wrong?
R: Tasha, I feel so awful. I just had a horrible fight
with my brother.
T: oh; really! What happened?
R: He told me I wasn’t doing enough to help our
family, & that I was concerned only about my self..
T: What did you say?
R: I yelled at him & we fought for almost an hour.
I feel terrible & have been crying ever since.
R: Tasha, you have to get over it. You have to get over
it. You can’t let your family problems get you down.
Come on….. Let’s go & have a coffee & talk about
something else.

How to Become Extraordinary Listener
1. Look into eyes of the person talking.
2. Don’t just stare blankly.
3. Don’t start thinking how to break away to speak to some
one else or do something else. Your eyes will give you away.
4. Use your eyes to show emotions
5. Raise your eyebrows when necessary.
Use Your Eyes
Raman: Sonali, I can’t believe that you are going to work in a Call Center. Your
shift will be late at night & it will completely ruin your sleeping habits.
Sonali: Raman, I will be earning twice as much as now. I also get free training.
Raman: But, what about what your body & health? You will have to sleep all day
& work all night. Also, what about your family? You won’t be able to
spend any time with them.
Sonali: Raman, it is very important to save money. With this job I will be able to
save almost Rs. 10,000/- per month. How can you say it is not worth it?

Think of the situation when the other person was
ignoring what you were saying & carried on with his/her point of view.

1. Don’t begin formulating your next sentence while that other
person is speaking.
2. Follow the other person’s chain of thoughts.
3. Take in the meaning & intent of the words.
4. Comprehend the message before responding.
5. Give non-verbal & verbal responses that show you are listening.
6. Use reassurances such as yes, ok, correct, in the course of the
conversation.

  • 10. Think of the situation when you were cut off in a mid sentence. How did you feel? What Went Wrong?
  • 11. S: I have a problem with my boss. He always takes out his anger on me & yells at me for every thing. A: oh; really? S: Yes, just the other day I was sitting at my desk. He came & for no reason at all told me that I need to do my job better. A: (Glances quickly at her watch) Oh really? That’s bad. S: Umm……yeah, that is all. A: Okay. So do you want to see a movie later on?
