It is also positioned next to the city centre and is connected to major destinations via highways. Inside the township is a hustle and bustle business focus loaded with a mixture of organizations and administrations, including numerous local and international banks, a mixed bag of diners, Puchong Financial Corporate Centre(PFCC), and Giant and Tesco hypermarket. The building studied is PFCC Tower 2 which consists of 20-storey and a block of shoplots in front of PFCC. PFCC was developed by IOI Properties Berhad Group and it is a finance and corporate zone consisting of 4 office towers and a hotel, and was completed in June 2009. For this study, in the book "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" by urban writer and activist Jane Butzner Jacobs (Preservation Institute, n.d.) expanded on the physical conditions which are the foundation of the street ballet. One of the conditions to make an area success economically in the urban is the need for aged buildings. For further discussion, the three external contributing factors on the architecture of PFCC and the block of 4-storey height shoplots in front of PFCC buildings that will be related to the condition for the city diversity are: 1. Economy 2. Context 3. In the book, Jacobs (1961) advocated that there must be a mixture of old and new buildings. The economic reason has to do with the level of rents. PROJECT 3: GENIUS LOCI: VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE THE SITE OF THIS VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE IS AT LABRADOR RESERVE NATURE IN THE ISLAND OF SINGAPORE. IT IS A PARK WHERE PEOPLE CAN HAVE THEIR DAILY ACTIVITIES AND JOGGING. BUT BEFORE IT TURNED TO BE A PARK, IT WAS THEN A WAR FIELD IN 1941. WORLD WAR II, THEY CALLED. THE NUMBERS OF THE SOLDIERS DIED WERE UNCOUNTABLE. WHEN I REACHED THIS SITE AND WALKED ALONG THE HISTORY PATH, THE THINGS THAT COULD BE SEEN WERE MOSTLY CANNONS. THIS WAS WHEN MY CONCEPT IDEA CAME IN, AS THE SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL WERE JUST AT A CORNER SOMEWHERE IN THE PARK, UNLIKE THE CANNONS' AND WEAPONS' FIGURINES. MY CONCEPT FOR THIS VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE IS 'THE SACRIFICE OF THE SOLDIERS'. IN THIS CENTRE, IT SHOWCASES THE INFORMATION OF THE WORLD WAR II HISTORY AND SOME SHOWS ABOUT THE SOLDIERS AND THEIR CONDITIONS. THE FORM OF THIS VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE IS AN ORGANIC SHAPE WHICH REPRESENTS BLOOD FLOWS OF THE SOLDIERS, SOME PARTS OF THE FORM ARE CONCAVE. IT IS TO REPRESENT THE SCARS, THE SACRIFICE OF THE SOLDIERS. BESIDES THAT, THE CEILINGS OF INTERIOR HAVE LAYERS AND IT IS TO REPRESENT DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SACRIFICE THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO MAKE. FOR THE PLANS, IT IS IN LINEAR ARRANGEMENT AND THICK INTERNAL WALLS ARE TO REPRESENT THE TOUGHNESS OF THE SOLDIERS, THE ONES WHO FOUGHT FOR THE COUNTRY.
