ODU and ODU Libraries will:
• House the collection together in a dedicated space
• Make DVD packaging accessible to users
• Undertake reconfigurations or renovations as necessary
• Not sell or dispose of the collection
• Update media to ensure content remains usable in a form
that can be circulated
• Preserve physical media as needed
• Provide access to the collection “as many hours as
practicable to include evening and weekend access”
• Provide sufficient staffing at the library to allow retrieval
and circulation
• Allow circulation of the collection to students, faculty, and
others who enjoy borrowing privileges, including ILL
• Provide viewing room(s) as we see fit

ODU and ODU Libraries will (continued):
• Integrate the titles into its general cataloging system
• Make good faith efforts to allow searching by decade, genre,
director, domestic and foreign country categories
• Provide academic programming that uses the collection
• Designate a qualified curator to choose titles for acquisition or
replacement
Donors will:
• Provide access to their database of the collection’s videos
• Cooperate with ODU in efforts to raise funds for and
maintain an endowment for collections, programming,
maintenance, curatorial expertise, and other expenses
• Cooperate with ODU in efforts to raise funds for start-up
costs, including the addition of a dedicated screening space

Mission & Goals
The mission of the Naro Advisory Board is to promote and secure financial support for the
Naro Video Collection at the Old Dominion University Libraries and to serve as an advocate
for the value of the collection to the Libraries, the University, the larger Hampton Roads
community, and potential donors. Specifically, the Board strives to:
• Assist in securing funds for expenses related to the development, maintenance, and
promotion of the Collection;
• Promote interest in the Collection among the University community, alumni, and
local/regional communities;
• Assist the University Libraries in publicizing the Collection…
• Encourage gifts of unique audiovisual and film-related materials;
• Recruit new members to the Advisory Board and advise the Dean of Libraries on
membership decisions.
