3. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 1 I will be using 1/5, 2/5 and 4/5 (NOT ¼ , ½ and ¾ )
10. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 2 Download Data (if you haven’t already) File >> Open Worksheet Change Drive to pshop$(ilabss)(G:) Select Math 221 Folder Select Math221_LabData Minitab When pop-up shows click “OK” (maybe twice)
17. Week 4 Lab Lecture For the first one, x ≥ 1, you would add all of the probabilities from 1 through 10 for 2/5 or calculate 1 – P(0)
18. Week 4 Lab Lecture For the second one, x > 1, you would add all of the probabilities from 2 through 10 for 2/5 or calculate 1 – (P(0)+P(1))
19. Week 4 Lab Lecture For the third one, 4<x ≤ 7, you would add all of the probabilities from 5 through 7
20. Week 4 Lab Lecture For the last one, x < 4 OR x ≥ 7, you would add all of the probabilities from 0 through 3 AND all probabilities from 7 through 10 (OR YOU COULD SAY 1 – THOSE NOT INCLUDED)
21. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 5 Mean = 10 (2/5) = 4 Std Dev = Sq Root (10)(2/5)(3/5) = 1.549
22. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 6 Mean = 10 (1/5) = 2 Std Dev = Sq Root (10)(1/5)(4/5) = 1.265
23. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 7 Mean = 10 (4/5) = 8 Std Dev = Sq Root (10)(4/5)(1/5) = 1.265
24. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 8 USE DEFINITION OF BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION…..
25. Week 4 Lab Lecture Number 9 USE YOUR RESULTS FROM THE SURVEY DATA IN NUMBER 2 AND COMPARE THEM TO THE RESULTS FOR ½ IN NUMBER 5. EXPLAIN WHY THEY DIFFER (HINT: ONE IS _________ AND THE OTHER IS ______________) ABOUT A PARAGRAPH
26. Week 4 Lab Lecture Come see me at the “Statcave” www.facebook.com/statcave You DO NOT have to be a Facebook person to see these. If you are, become a fan. IT IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE ON FACEBOOK. IT’S SOMETHING I DO FOR FUN. I post charts there because it is easy for me to do.
