Once upon a time in 19th century Germany there was ………Click The bookNow during this time the book was the king of story-telling. It was venerable but it was a little bit boring.
Because in the 400 yrs of existence storytellers never changed the book into a storytelling device but then one author arrived and he transformed the game forever.
His name, LotharMeggendorfer.
Lother put his foot down and he said genug is genug (german for enough is enough) He grab his pen and his snatched his scissors this man refused to allow things to stay the same.
History would know LotherMeggandorfer as history’s first true inventor of the children’s pop-up book.
Story-telling has now transformed into a visual and interactive device. Going from simple black and white words to colorful pictures that had the ability to move.
this delight and for this wonder people rejoiced. They were happy because the story survived and the world would keep on spinning.
As time passed the way stories were told continued to transformed. There was Radio news and then radio theater.
Then from still movies
To film in motion
Then movies in black and white to movies in color and sound. And then VHS to DVD and then 3D.
. And things got a lot more fun when the internet came around. Because not only could people broadcast their stories throughout the world they could do so using with what seemed to be an infinite amount of devices.
People have taken a step back and realized that in 6,000 yrs of storytelling, they have gone from depicting hunting on cave walls
to depicting Shakespeare on facebook wall. And this was a cause for celebration. The art of storytelling has remained unchanged.
We all have a basic need to share stories. It is hard not to share with others because our human nature urges us to communicate. Each one of us are story-tellers. Today stories continue to be told now using media. Media are means or ways of communicating. Examples of different media are books, movies, music, internet, games…all these communicate a message through story. Just as you learn to read a book, it is important to learn how different media tell stories through images, and sound. Let’s see how you read the following? (logos)

How do we interact with media we experience?
It is important to ask questions when using the media in order to understand what story and message is being told and since you are all creators of media to question what you choose to share, post, play, listen.
