Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing
Nursing Evidence Based Practice
Findings of evidenced based practice have to be disseminated to ensure that innovations for practice
are replicated or applied in other settings by stakeholders in the health fraternity and healthcare
professionals (Forsyth, Wright, Scherb Gaspar, 2010). One of the objectives of dissemination should
be to improve the practice. Dissemination of evidenced based practice findings in nursing is very
critical in knowledge synthesis, translation, and translation. It is imperative in strengthening
healthcare, informing policy, and improving practice decisions based on clinical evidence (Rycroft
Malone Bucknall, 2010). This is realized by transforming clinical changes into practice. It actually
involves two stage processes namely: translation of evidence into practice and integration of research
recommendations into actual practice. Effective dissemination of evidence based practice findings
enable staff to share information about developments in healthcare practice and implement innovation
(Freemantle Watt, 1994).
Dissemination enables healthcare professionals to make decisions based on the quality of information
they receive on effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a proposed healthcare intervention.
Dissemination of evidenced based research findings using any medium enables health facility staff
members to access research findings and critique the findings (Bradley, McSherry McSherry, 2010).
Service users and carers also access such

Chapter Seventeen Of Exploring Ethics Summary
In Chapter Seventeen of Exploring Ethics, Bernard Mayo discusses representatives of the ideal and
how they give us examples to follow. Mayo uses the example of a Hero or a Saint that represent this
ideal of morality. It s stated that they are people whom we are expected, and expect ourselves, to
imitate . For those who follow the faith of Christianity, Jesus is the perfect example for this. Christ is
written to never have sinned and to have lived his life doing only good deeds. An entire community of
people read the words that are written and take that into consideration and strive to live a life like his.
Aristotle s ideology of taking into consideration for who you want to be, rather than what you do is
still used in society today. Growing

Beta Fish Data
1) To summarize the results of these experiments a number of descriptive statistical measures could be
used. As we are most interested in answering questions about what affects mate choice, how mate
competition plays out, and how the two may be related though, a few sets of descriptive statistical
measures would best serve to characterize our findings with respect to these questions being asked.
First to present general trends in display times in front of females a graph of the average display times
of male fish in female presence could be included with breakouts on males with respect to size (larger,
smaller, equal), dominance status (non dominate, dominate, and co dominate) and color (red vs blue).

a. Here we are interested in female choice out of a set of nominal data, and as such chia squared one
sample test could be conducted to determine whether or not the female showed any preference based
on dominance status of the male fish. 4: Did the female show any preference in mate choice based on
mate display time? a. Here we are looking for a correlation between display time by the male fish and
how it relates to the female s respective mate choice. As we are looking for a correlation we could
conduct a spearman correlation test to see if any relationship between these two variables is present. 5:
Was there any preference for the female to choose a mate based simply on the side of the tank he was
located in? a. Here we are again testing a one sample nominal set of data, and as such a chia squared
could be carried out to determine if tank side had any influence on mate choice of the female. In a
sense this test is serving as a type of control to help us potentially eliminate from our confounding
variables any potential effects male location may have in the influencing the female mate

The National League Of Major League Baseball
Should there be a designated hitter in the national league in major league baseball? That is the
question that is being asked around major league baseball by fans, owners, managers, and the players.
If a team is playing in an American league ball park both teams must use a designated hitter in place
of the pitcher. If a team is playing in a National league ball park both teams pitchers must hit instead
of having a designated hitter. This is set to give each league an advantage when playing in interleague
games because National league teams normally carry an extra pitcher while American league teams
normally carry an extra hitter. However, injury concerns, numbers, and entertainment factors play a
huge part in the designated hitter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An injury like this is more of a freak accident rather than an injury that could be prevented. A line
drive up the middle that hits the pitcher may look bad, but in most cases they usually only miss a few
starts. Generally it is concussions which there are proper protocols for concussion related incidents.
This year two National league pitchers have been injured while hit. That may not necessarily seem
like a high number, but it is when it is related to pitchers. Adam Wainwright is the ace of the St. Louis
Cardinals and this year he had a season ending injury while he was leaving the box to run to first. In
this example, the cardinals lost their ace for the year. Teams do not want to see their ace or any
pitchers go down because it could affect their playoff aspirations. Even though Wainwright went down
the cardinals are currently in first place of their division. They even have two pitchers with 10 wins or
more, but it does not always happen like that. Take the Chicago Cubs for example who are currently in
the race to be in position to contend for a wild card spot. Jon Lester is their best pitcher on their staff.
This would ultimately end their season over something that could have been prevented if he was
injured while at the plate. Major league baseball teams do not want to lose a great pitcher over
something that could be avoided. Many people believe that this could be solved if the

Case Study Freeflyer
Hi Jun,
Thank you for evaluating FreeFlyer and your patience while we worked through your issue. Our Tech
Support team has spent some time analyzing your Mission Plan s (MP). We are happy to see you using
the Orbit Determination (OD) abilities of FreeFlyer. We do have some suggestions to help in
simplifying your MP and evaluating your results.
To recap, you have three separate MP s; the first is to setup your spacecraft and export the state vector
as an ephemeris. Then the second MP is used to apply the Black Jack point solution data file to the
ephemeris file using a Kalman Filter tool. The final MP then uses the Tracking Data Editor to generate
a new Black Jack point solution data file from the original Black Jack point solution. Although, ...

o In your spacecraft GUI there is a tab for the propagator step size (Spacecraft1  Motion Model 
Propagator  Step Size) set to 300 seconds, where as your Kalman Filter step size is only 60 seconds.
The Spacecraft step size should be identical to the Kalman Filter step size. This is mainly due to the
Kalman Filter step size taking precedent in FreeFlyer and wanting to ensure that the spacecraft
propagation is synced with the Kalman Filter. o Also under the Motion Model you are using 22 Zonal
and Tesseral potential fields and the Analytic density model. Although this is not incorrect you would
receive a better estimate if you used the Jacchia Roberts density model and increased your Zonals to a
larger number. I have updated the Zonals and Tesserals, in the attached MP, to use 40

Cave Of Forgotten Dreams Analysis
Film Journal 1
Cave of forgotten Dreams In this film, it starts out showing the oldest form of painting which is close
to 32,000 years old. The cave in which it is found is called the Chauvet cave in the south of France
after the original discoverer named Jean Marie Chauvet. In one of the paintings, the bear that was
painted on the wall after the video was paused looked like I could still erase it because it looked like
fresh ink. The scientist could confirm its authenticity because of the material that grew around the
painting would take many years to form. For people that used their fingers, the paintings seemed to
look very nice and detailed and had me wonder how horses looked back in that time, because the way
they were drawn made them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an old story, he once took a liking to a woman named Persephone who was a daughter of Zeus and
chose her as his wife out of force. The mother of Persephone was the goddess of harvest and when her
daughter went missing, she forgot her duties and the world almost fell to ruin as she could stop child
bearing and harvesting crops. Hades was able to able to trick Persephone into staying with him for a
short time each year and the rest of the time she can be free to see her mother. The Greek did not want
to know or even build temples for Hades as being associated with him would mean being dead, to
Greeks death was bad because we are supposed to keep living one in a way where we are never

three levels: the Astridel, then a torment dungeon named Tartarus (hell), then there were the islands of
the blessings. In the Astridel, the souls of the living would wonder aimlessly until their judgement
times where there was slight suffering in being nothing. The second level which was Tartarus was a
level in the underworld where it was equivalent to hell in the Christian testaments as this is where all

Harry Potter Religion
When Harry Potter was gaining attention from all over the globe, a select amount of Catholics saw
Harry Potter as the Devil. Father Gabriele Amorth of the Archdiocese of Rome, who is also a top
exorcist, believes that all magic leads to the devil. The Catholic Church has no official stance on the
series, but many other respected priests have stated that they think the Harry Potter books are a perfect
example of right and wrong and they see Catholic figures in the characters. Also, J.K. Rowling
explains why Harry Potter should be seen as a book for everyone. Father Gabriele Amorth also stated
that reading the Harry Potter series will lead young children to think about joining a cult that teaches
magic. To think that children will join magic teaching cults after reading Harry Potter is crazy. Around
the time of the release of the fourth book, Russ Breimeier, a writer for Christianity today wrote an
article on how Christians are starting to realize the good in Harry Potter. Some of the people he talked
to said they realized that Harry Potter has more life lessons that are connected to Christian beliefs
rather than lessons about witchcraft. Russ said that whenever magic is used in a book or ... Show more

bad deeds. Invocational magic is harmonizing with the will of our creator. That is the kind of magic
used in Harry Potter and Narnia. J.K. Rowling also never mentions the source of the characters powers
in Harry Potter, she focuses on how they use their powers. Most use it for good, but some dark
wizards chose to turn bad and use their powers against other wizards for personal

Obamacare Dilemmas
This Chicago Tribune opinion piece examines the current Obamacare dilemma within the government
and how it can possibly be fixed. Currently the Republican party is working hard to repeal Obamacare
and replace it with their own health care plan, but they seem to be a long way off from constructing
one. The Democrats don t seem to like the idea of Obamacare being replaces, though they do admit
that Obamacare has some theoretical holes in it and the bill should be mended, but not destroyed. The
editor of this article believes that the Republicans and Democrats should come together to fix this
problem. He then lists some possible ideas, but all ideas sent the same message that these two political
parties need to put their differences aside and fix this issue or nothing will happen. I 100 percent agree
with the editor. This is how politics should be handled, but it seems everyone would rather argue and
stay with their ideas instead of opening their minds to new ideas.

Unit 525 Inter Professional Working Essay
1.Understand the principles of inter professional working within health and social care or children and
young people s setting.
1.1 Analyse how inter professional working promotes positive outcomes for individuals.
Inter professional working is formed from different health and social care professionals working
together towards a common goal to meet the needs of a service user. It is about developing
relationships within and between organisations and services involved in planning and delivering care
and support to the service users we support. By working collaboratively it brings together different
types of professionals to share their particular knowledge, experience, skills, occupational values and
perspectives to improve service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good working relationships are built over time, this creates trust, respect and smooth running of the
service. This is apparent at reviews and other meetings when everyone involved with an individual
will be brought up to date with any progress or issues. Then any decisions or agreements can be made
because everyone involved has an opportunity to voice their opinions/concerns. This leads to a
positive outcomes supported by all involved. If there have been previous agreed actions not carried
out then this environment makes it easier to remind others of the things that need completing. Also if
others are having difficulties in fulfilling their agreements then they will find it easier to ask for help.
Respect for each other should be maintained, remembering that we are all working for the best
possible outcome for the individual.
There is a need to monitor and review working relationships, if conflict or lack of communication is a
problem there is a need to establish a reason for this and look for a resolution acceptable to all parties
and identify areas for improvement. One way to maintain a good working relationship is to have
regular contact not only verbal but face to face contact through meetings at least monthly, this
provides opportunity to discuss any concerns or maybe just have a chat about things in general, also
keep in touch via email and telephone. It can create problems if the only contact they have is when
there are problems as this may give

Fetal Tissue Research Paper
A Shot of Fetal Tissue Many young children are vaccinated every day, but do you know what is in
vaccines? Almost all vaccines have one ingredient in common: cells from aborted baby fetuses. The
medical community needs to realize it is not appropriate to use fetus cells in vaccines for many
reasons. Some wonder how the cells are even used in vaccines. There are two specific cells used in
vaccines (depending on what the vaccine is for). WI 38 and MRC 5 are the two types. WI 38 was first
discovered in 1964 when many pregnant women with Rubella were advised to abort their babies. It
was found that the cell must be taken from the kidney of a three month old female fetus to be used in
vaccines. A MRC 5 is taken from the lung of a male fetus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because almost all vaccines use fetus cells in vaccinations, many people choose not to vaccinate their
children, because the use of the aborted cells in the vaccine is against their religion. By not using fetus
cells in immunizations, it would resolve a large portion of the conscientious objectors ( Cultural
Perspectives on Vaccination , par. 7). If fetus cells were removed, it would give more people the
opportunity to be vaccinated, because it would no longer be against their religious belief. If more of
the population was vaccinated, it would help to stop the spread of diseases such as the measles. In
2005, a teenager went on a trip overseas and returned home. The teen got a disease, because they had
not been vaccinated due to their religious beliefs. Much of their community had also not been
vaccinated for the same reason, and because of this, a major outbreak occurred ( Cultural Perspectives
on Vaccination , par. 9). The use of the aborted cells in the vaccine disallowed this community to be
vaccinated; if fetus cells had not been used in the immunization, everyone in the community would

definition of Capital Punishment is Imposition of a penalty of death by the state. The background of

White House In The 1800s
White House The building of the white house has a rich history through out its war campaigns and the
burning of the white house. The White House is a symbol for our nation and it is a very intricate piece
to our society. The first stone was laid on October 13, 1792. It took eight years to finish enough of the

My Experience Of Art
Since elementary school I have envisioned my life deeply intertwined with art, however, at the same
time I also knew that vision never had me living out the stereotype of a starving artist either. As a child
my understanding of artist in the work force was nothing more than the cliché vision, of a paint
covered artist smearing vivid hues on a canvas and then rushing to the nearest art gallery to sell their
work. I didn t know anything of the vast opportunities for artist or even how abundantly art is used
throughout our society. Maybe this was due to the fact I was never one of those kids who know what
they wanted to be since they were three. Nevertheless, I always had a passion to create, even when I
was determined to become the next Thomas Edison, I was looking for an outlet to create. By the time
third grade would roll around though, it would be made evident that art in its most traditional since of
drawing and painting would be the outlet I was always looking for. Understanding my niche in the
creative world would take me over a decade of self evaluation, inspiration, and research.
I never started out saying I was going to be an artist, I still did a child s fair share of doodles and
finger painting but it was never anything that raptured my attention. However, this would all change
on Christmas Eve, when my grandmother presented me with a book entitled How to Draw 120 of your

Meditation is very difficult for some to practice, especially for those who are new to meditating. Most
beginners believe that if they are unable to completely clear their mind while meditating, they have
failed the purpose of the exercise, which is not the case. The mind is a powerful muscle, but like every
muscle it must train to become stronger and independent. For example, if an individual s goal is to run

characteristic that unites both goals is training, simply training. If meditation is not regularly practiced,

Comparing The Mutiny And The Rebellion
For both uprisings then, it appears that criticisms streamed in from every direction to attack mutinous
Indians, rebellious Jamaicans, and/or those Britons who favoured the opposite side of the
controversies. Yet what these critics all had in common was how they asserted their own patriotism
and Britishness while questioning or simply denying their detractors these values. The different
factions thus created their own definitions of what being civilised, being a Briton and being a faithful
subject of the Empire meant. Accordingly, this work draws together the Mutiny and the Rebellion, and
uses them as a case study to trace and interpret one conception Punch s of Britishness and imperialism

Similarly, for Semmel there was a real danger, particularly as the 1860 s were a time of transition, and

Date: 11/7/2017 Décor From the 1920 s
One of the major aspects of the 1920 s was décor. Art and decoration obtained a role in nearly
everything during this time. From parties to everyday life décor was a very influential aspect during
this time.

Coco Chanel created a fashion that began to grow rapidly in the 1920 s. She created suits and dresses
for women and they became very popular and still are today. Another person that impacted design in
the 1920 s was Thomas W. Lamb. He was known as a famous theater and cinema designer. For
example, Thomas W. Lamb was known for designing hundreds of theaters and later known as the king
of theaters (Gray). Thomas helped to design movie theaters and this sparked an impact on the 20th
century. Many people enjoyed and took advantage of how much of an impact people, like Coco and
Thomas, had on the 1920 s. If it wasn t for people like them, we wouldn t have movie theaters and a
cute fashion for women today.

Among many other things, art began to flourish and change during this era. One 1920 s décor critic
stated, The Art Deco Movement influenced the way that buildings were erected and clothes were made
(Modras). Art was such a major aspect during the 1920 s that it changed the way architects were
expected to design buildings. This created a new perspective on the way houses and major buildings
were looked at. In fact, these buildings were no longer just used for practical purposes but were now
created to be pleasing to the eye. In addition, in The Great Gatsby Nick notes, Gatsby s house is also a
very lavish building (Fitzgerald 14). Gatsby s

Adventures of Death Valley National Park
This summer, Alice decided that she was going to go to Death Valley National Park in California.
There was only one problem. When Alice asked her parents if she could go, they said no. Alice could
only go if she could find at least two friends to go with her. Alice asked her two best friends, Lea and
Rachel. They said yes! Alice was so excited, This is going to be the best summer ever!
The three girls met up together at Alice s house to discuss what they were going to need to pack. What
is the weather like so I know what to pack, Rachel questioned Alice? Well, since the climate is arid
and hot, with dry air masses trapped in the valley because there are mountains on both sides, you
would probably need shorts and a tank top to keep cool. Probably, you will need shorts, tank tops,
hiking shoes, sunscreen, and sunglasses, Alice replied. A hat too, Lea inquired? Alice answered, Yes.
Alice s friends didn t really know what Death Valley was or why it was called Death Valley so she
gave a little detail about it. Death Valley is the lowest point on the contiguous U.S, which is 282 feet
below sea level. Death Valley is located near the highest point on the contiguous U.S., which is about
76 miles away. On February 11, 1933, President Herbert Hoover made Death Valley a national
monument and in 1944 Death Valley was re designated as a national park, Alice told the girls. After
the girls finished packing, they went to sleep and the next day, they drove to

The Transmogrification of Venus to Mary in the Works of...
The works of Sandro Botticelli are among the most revered of renaissance painting. The sweeping
curves of his women and the ethereal beauty of their gazes are recognized instantaneously: from a
grandmother in a small town to the cognoscenti of New York or Paris, few can claim to be unmoved
by his work. Patronized by the Vatican as well as one of the most rich and powerful Florentines of his
time, Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de Medici, Botticelli was hugely popular in his own day. His most
magnificent work, the Primavera, as well as The Birth of Venus, Camilla and the Centaur, and Mars
and Venus contain entirely mythological figures whose significances have been debated by various art
historians for centuries. Born as Alessandro di ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you were to unite with her in wedlock and claim her as yours, she would make all your years sweet
(Hartt and Wilkins 378). This passage could have countless connotations. The one that seems to make
the most sense is that Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de Medici, upon the news of his upcoming marriage to
Semiramide d Appiano, asked Botticelli to paint the Primavera using the figures that he did because
they held a strong meaning for him since he received the aforementioned letter (Venturi 72). The way
Venus is used in this picture along with the Three Graces, Mercury, Cupid, The Zephyr and Flora has
mounds upon mounds of meanings. It is truly Neo Platonic. There are so many meanings, that if taken
out of context, Venus could mean anything from lust to ideal beauty, to being the Goddess of April and
gardens, along with Flora (Dempsey 260 261). If it is to be a gift to the bride or the married couple, it
could suggest fertility being ushered in through Flora by way of Zephyr s actions. It could also be that
the picture is showing the bride certain virtues she must possess through the Three Graces and a
virginal, pure looking, wedding veiled Venus (see figure 2). The fact that there are, blossoming off of
the orange trees, ripe sumptuous fruits is congruent with the fertility theme as well as the fact that
oranges are part of the Medici coat of arms (Hartt and Watkins 379). Or is could be all of these ideas

A Research Study On Data Analysis
The qualitative research for the study will be driven by using tools such as excel spreadsheets and data
analysis software that provides a quality control and accuracy for the results obtained from the
participants. The researcher will be utilizing two elements of data analysis validity according to
Creswell described by Sampson, J (2012), congruence and accuracy:
Congruence involves providing a rational that shows how the data analysis method for qualitative
research and fits the questions being asked or the hypotheses for qualitative research. The description
of the rationale for using various data analysis methods should help the readers determine if the
analytical techniques are appropriate for the research design and the measures utilized to represent the
variables in the case study.
Accuracy involves providing evidence that the analytical techniques used in the research provide
correct answers to the research question being asked or the hypotheses being posed. This process
establishes the accuracy of data analysis helps the reader to judge whether or not the findings obtained
in the study could be trusted.
The researcher role in this process is an exceptional and significant role in the process of qualitative
research, which is to present a new platform for the dual enrollment program to provide readiness
skills to help students with work life balance when students transition to college while working.

Man s Search For Meaning Reflection
Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl was an empowering, impactful, and memorable book. The
brevity of the novel was refreshing and allowed me to purely understand what he intended. To me,
Part One of this book was similar to the book Night by Elie Wiesel. They were both very honest and
raw in their depiction of the holocaust and concentration camps. I enjoyed both books, they were
insightful and opened my eyes to the nature of humanity. One specifically memorable thing that
Frankl said was that both the people creating the gas chambers and the ones entering them were one in
the same. Both books made me think, but Man s Search for Meaning was more reflective and
encompassing. Reflection When reading Man s Search for Meaning, the quote man is more than
psyche and the concept of logotherapy particularly interested me. I have never heard of either. Both of
these topics peaked my interest. Man is more than psyche At first, I did not understand the simplicity
of what Frankl meant by, man is more than psyche. I believed that there was something more to the
quote, but I found that there is not. It is just what it says, man is more than psyche. Man has many
features and characteristics, the psyche is an important one, but basing man on just psyche is unfair to
humanity. While, I agree with Frankl, I can see why some would believe that the psyche is what
defines man. The psyche influences a large part of our daily lives. Our emotions, thoughts, and actions
are influenced by our psyche; these are often the defining characteristics of a person. However, I
believe there is something that separates every one of us and defines humans. This is one s life
purpose; it is rooted deep within us. Regardless of if we realize it, the life purpose is always within us,
it is a matter of acknowledging it. It sets us apart from one another and individualizes us beyond our
psyche. Another thing paired with life purpose is responsibility. One thing that Frankl says is that
freedom must be paired with responsibility. In this I believe Frankl is saying that the freedom of life is
congruent to having a responsibility of keeping the life purpose alive. I agree with Frankl. I think part
of living is to be responsible in

Furthermore, the CRTC (2014) initiated Let s Talk TV in October 2013, which enabled a discussion
between the regulatory body and Canadians to share their views on current regulations in broadcasting
and the future of television packaging in Canada. The subsequent report of Let s Talk TV outlined the
concerns and satisfactions of the Canadian public. In late 2013, the CRTC (2013c) ruled that Category
C national news services should be offered by all broadcasting providers in an effort to remove
regulatory restrictions for new entrants, increase competition in this sector and to enhance consumer
choice.
Issues and Implications The CRTC (2013c) identified five categories that this policy addressed: the
necessity of offering all marketable news services, news neighbourhoods, packaging requirements,
filing affiliation agreements and resolution strategies in negotiation rates and set an implementation
period. The Commission ruled in favour of offering all news services to Canadian cable subscribers,
against requiring that broadcasting distribution undertakings (BDUs) categorize similar programming
into news neighbourhoods, against requiring packaged or bundled services and has permitted
continued commercial negotiations instead of CRTC mediated negotiations. By March 19, 2014, all
BDUs are required to satisfy the must offer provision of this policy; all other arrangements will be

Life-Divination And Omens
Chapter 11: Encountering the Present: Guidance for Life Divination and Omens
Walton begins to discuss the ANE view of the present in this chapter, so he focuses on the usage and
interpretation of divinations and omens as the guidance for life. The objective here is to discuss the
epistemology for the knowledge driven divination and the practical application by magicians and other
religious practitioners.
The major discussion focuses on the two categories of divination as the inspired and the deductive
along with the forms of them. Inspired divination targets on both official and informal prophecy and
dreams. Walton states that prophecy generally concentrated primarily on the kings, and the function of
the prophet was there to advise the king of what would be approving to the god who had spoken or
who had reveled. Dreams varied from inspiration to one who actively sought a god as the last part of
inspired divination. Other than the inspired divination, deductive divination comes from two types of
events that can be observed in the physical realm: the active as extispicy or casting of lots; and the

Then the continue topic of magic is addressed and expressed that it must be included within the
religious field of the ANE. Magic is used as an example of power; while divination is always used to
gain knowledge or understanding. After the discussion of myth, this chapter achieved the dimension of
epistemology and semiotics as well as how a prophet gained his credibility through prophecy with the
provided biblical evidences.

Tobacco s Burden Of Disease Essay
1. Tobacco s burden of disease
Tobacco use is widespread and has a heavy burden of disease . According to the U.S. department of
Health and Human Services [HHS], tobacco use is related to over 443,000 Americans death each year
and has caused approximately 8,860,000 related illnesses (2016). Thus causing it to have a higher
mortality rate than HIV, illegal drug use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.
Tobacco use is thus one of the Nation s deadliest and most costly public health challenges (HHS,
2016). Tobacco can cause the onset of multiple diseases, for example, cancer, cardiovascular disease,
asthma, COPD, pregnancy complications, SIDS, and oral diseases (HHS, 2016). The prevalence of
tobacco use has been gradually decreasing since the nineteen sixty s, but even today tobacco use is
quite common.
2. The course of the disease: the concepts of incidence, prevalence, and case fatality.
The concepts of the course of disease are not fully relevant to the subject of tobacco, but can be
examined and applied in part. The concept of incidence is the rate of chance that a disease occurs over
a period time (Riegelman Kirkwood, 2015, p. 298). In other words, it is the rate of new cases of a
disease. For tobacco use, over two thousand teens and young adults become daily smokers each day in
the United States (CDC, 2015). The concept of prevalence in public health is the proportion of those
within a population at a set period of time that are afflicted

Attachment is the emotional relationship between the child and the caregiver. Attachment is important
for several reasons. A child that has a good emotional bond with their parent is more likely to have
better copping skills with negative emotions in stressful moments; they are more independent and
more confident to go out in the world and explore their options. There s two particular theory of
attachment id agree with which would have to be Bowlby and Harlow theory. Attachment I believe
comes from early age and it s based on how the caregiver takes care of their child and the emotional
connection they share with their child. Harlow s theory states that babies are more attached to theirs
mothers for the simple reason it s the parent that feeds them and shows protection, once they find that
in a parent they become more in order to survive.
There are different styles of attachments for example secure, insecure, avoidant, and anxious
ambivalent. Secure attachment is when a child its upset when their caregiver leaves but once the
caregiver returns they are able calm down. This shows how they feel secure enough that they can
count on the parent to come back. Another type of attachment is insecure attachment is when the child
shows no emotions towards their caregiver and they don t really care whether their caregiver comes
back or not. Which for a baby it s not a good sign, this style of attachment

Network, Virtual Local Area Networks ( Vlans )
In the past, companies were hampered by the cost, performance, and security issues that are associated
with local area networks or LANs. LANs must be connected physically to switches which means that
each LAN must have its own switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The virtualized version of the
LANs, virtual local area networks (VLANs), allows users to invest in only one switch (prtl.uhcl.edu,
2016, para. 13). The VLAN is used in a virtual data center environment to separate a single LAN into
more than one network while being physically connected to only one switch. One advantage of
VLANs is that network administrators can now sort devices by whatever criteria they require without
physical location being an issue. Different VLANs can be set for different groups or departments
within the same LAN. Performance is improved because, when the LAN is broken up into VLANs, it
is not receiving broadcasts from all of the devices (certbros.com, 2015, para. 4). Cost is decreased
because separate physical switches are not required for VLANs. A security benefit is provided because
VLANs can be configured to accommodate the different security levels needed, and the administrator
can choose whether or not to allow the VLANs to communicate with each other (certbros.com, 2015,
para. 6). VRFs Virtualization is also used in the data center to acquire more routing instances without
acquiring more hardware (Santana, 2014. P. 90). This technology is known as Virtual Routing and

Second Language Acquisition ( Sla ) Theory
Theoretical Framework
The literature review of this research study is based on second language acquisition (SLA) theory. In
this section I address a number of studies that have been conducted on vocabulary acquisition and
share results of studies that are related to the topic. This is the framework I use for establishing the
importance of the study and a benchmark of comparing results with other findings.
Literature Review
Vocabulary Acquisition History
Since the early 1980s, research on second language vocabulary has taken a prominent role in the field
of second language acquisition (SLA). Previously, learning a language was heavily based on learning
grammar rules, which learners have to follow and understand in order to use correct grammatical
sentences. As a result, that has led to a neglect of learning vocabulary as there was an assumption that
vocabulary can be learned through communication and can take care of itself (Meara, 1980;
Maiguaschca, 1993).
A number of researchers (e.g., Carter McCarthy, 1988; McCarthy, 1990; Nation, 2010; Nation Laufer
2012; Schmitt, 2010) argue that vocabulary acquisition is the basic foundation of language learning
because words are the building blocks of communication and without them, learners will not be able
to express themselves and communicate by using a target language. This has led to the emergence of a
growing body of research intended to discover and describe second language (L2) learners strategies
for learning a target

American Laws And The Lgbtq Community
American Laws and the LGBTQ+ Community Discrimination [dih skrim uh ney shuh n]: treatment or
consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group,
class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Right from the
dictionary, the definition is clear. Look back 95 years to 1920, where women across America raised
their voices and fought back for the right to vote. Now take a look back 48 years ago when in 1967,
interracial marriage was finally legalized. These were all monumental events fighting against
discrimination. However, the definition is still blurring in minds of some across America as a
multitude of bills are being passed permitting people to act with bigotry towards members of the
LGBTQ+ community, the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts just being one of them. In discussions
of bills such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, or RFRA s, one controversial issue has been
whether or not they permit discrimination. On one hand, those supporting the laws argue that they
only reinforce the free practice of religion. On the other hand, those against them contend that with
their vagueness it plays out as disguising legal discrimination. My own view is that the RFRA s and
other anti LGBTQ+ laws should be repealed or at the very least backed with a state wide non
discrimination law for LGBTQ+ individuals. This is in order to prevent a large amount of service
being denied to LGBTQ+

Mormon faith were persecuted. At the beginning of its founding, the Mormon faith had about 40
supporters and by 1831 there was more than 71 people who were Mormons in Ohio. However, the
Mormons were chased away from Ohio. Along with Joseph Smith another famous supporter of the
Mormon faith was Brigham Young, a penniless carpenter who had been looking for direction when his

Charles Dickens was the reason that the new spirit of realism came along in the nineteenth century.
Dickens s novels of contemporary life exhibit an amazing ability to create living characters. Also,
Dickens is known for his different style of humor and parody. Thomas Hardy wrote about other people
s encounters with fate and circumstances, his outlook on life seems pessimistic when you read most of
his novels. Wells s novels often seem to be sociological investigations of the ills of modern
civilization rather than self contained stories. (English) H.G. Wells wrote novels based on his
experiences in life, he wrote about what he thought would go wrong or what was wrong with the
society that he was surrounded by.
Poets of the nineteenth century tried to tell stories through poetry. They also experimented with

how Victorian poets tried to play with their characters. Victorian poets tried to make their story come

The Arts and Craft movement was a social and artistic movement, which began in Britain in the
second half of the nineteenth century and continued into the twentieth spreading to continental Europe

importance of and craftsmanship in all arts in the face of increasing industrialization, which they felt
was sacrificing quality in the pursuit of quantity. Its supporters and practioners were united not so

In the United States, the Arts and Crafts Movement took on a distinctively more bourgeois flavor.
While the European movement tried to recreate the virtuous world of craft labor that was being
destroyed by industrialization, Americans tried to establish a new source of virtue to replace heroic
craft production: the tasteful middle class home. They thought that the simple but refined aesthetics of
Arts and Crafts decorative arts would ennoble the new experience of industrial consumerism, making
individuals more rational and society more harmonious. In short, the American Arts and Crafts
Movement was the aesthetic counterpart of its contemporary political movement: Progressivism.
Art Nouveau, 1890 1914, explores a new style in the visual arts and architecture that developed in
Europe and North America at the end of the nineteenth century. The exhibition is divided into three
sections: the first focuses on the 1900 World s Fair in Paris, where Art Nouveau was established as the
first new decorative style of the twentieth century; the second examines the sources that influenced the
style; and the third looks at its development and fruition in major cities in Europe and North

Loving what you do and also being determined to do it right are crucial for being nurse administrators
and educators. Watching the video An interview with a nurse administrator helps me to understand
what to expect as a nurse administrator, although the task might not be the same. It helps me to have
an insight on what the nurse administrator s job entails. I have learnt the important of effective
communication, prioritizing and delegating task to the staff. According to the video, the nurse
administrator interview, your patients and staff s happiness and satisfaction should be your priorities.
Nurse administrators should let the staff know that their opinion counts, for the day to day running of

Essay on Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations
Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations
Charles Dickens Great Expectations stands as one of the most highly revered works in all of English
literature. The novel s perennial appeal lies in its penetrating depictions of character, rich panoramas
of social milieu, and implicit crusades against social evils.1
Dickens used the growth of his characters in Great Expectations, particularly Pip, in relation to others
to write about social reform, and most effectively illustrated this by using the first person narrative
style. In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens has written a social commentary using the development
of his characters to illustrate his message. In my paper, I will concentrate on three of the main ... Show

Dickens uses his characters to illustrate these themes. He shows in depth character transformation by
showing his characters learning these lessons through suffering and hardships.
Great Expectations is told by a first person narrator, the narrator being the main character, Pip. He tells
about his own life of selfishness and greed and how he learned through his own experiences how to
make himself useful and happy. This novel is a first person narrative because it is Pip s own story.
Since it is about his own life it makes it easy for the reader to identify with Pip and what he is going
through. In a first person narrative you know from the very beginning of the story the conflict between
the narrator and the main character will be resolved.4 In Great Expectations the narrator is the main
character grown up and telling about his experiences as a young boy. It would be difficult to tell a
story unless you really understand the meaning and importance of it and you can only realize this
through your own experiences.
Pip s first encounter with Magwitch, an escaped convict, is down by the marshes where Pip is visiting
his parents graves. Magwitch asks Pip, Where s your mother? Pip points to the grave and says There
sir. 5 Magwitch is startled and we can sense that he was a bit frightened also. From Magwitch s
nervousness we see that he is just as scared and unhappy as Pip. Pip is very

Descriptive Essay On Destitute Beauty
Destitute Beauty In the large city of New York, there are many beautiful people. I am not one of them.
I can pass hours away sitting in a coffee shop in a tall seat next to the window, watching the beauties
pass, seeing my reflection against them even more bloated and lumpy than normal. Some of them
notice me. Most of them don t. It doesn t matter. Like I said, New York is a large city, I ll never see
them again. And anyway, I m sure they re used to people staring. How could they not be, they draw
people with their large, black rimmed eyes and lean figures and cutting jawbones like dogs to the
enticing smell of meat. I am just another dog, one they will forget in moments. And when the sun sets,
and the beautiful people fade away and the crowd becomes faceless and intoxicated, that s when I
leave, and where I stay until the sun rises, becoming one with the pulse and throb of the mass.
Promising myself that the next day, yes, the next day, I ll get a job, ignore the cold, gorgeous people,
succeed even with my lumps, and papery skin, and eyes that are just a little too far apart. And the next
day, with my headache, I return. Today is yesterday and the day before. The sun is especially bright
now, almost passive aggressively bright, shining smugly through the haze that buries the city,
bouncing into the small cafe in which I spend most of my time. It s supposed to be homey, with nearly
dead plants hanging skeletal by the windows and overstuffed couches near a coffee table. I sit in the
uncomfortable seat that s almost comically tall, at the only table next to a window. The barista Ellen is
chatting happily with a customer, she barely notices me anymore. Which is fine by me. A woman, with
long legs and hollows under her cheekbones, struts past the café, a mere foot away from me. She
doesn t notice my stare. It s a funny thing. People talk all they want about feeling when people stare at
them, getting goosebumps and looking around frantically for their admirer. But either it isn t true, or I
m not important enough for my stare to mean anything, hold any weight. Searching through the
crowd, I find parts and pieces that I want most, playing a game I often play. Her taut stomach, her long
legs, her bright eyes,

Reagan Interview
Remember Reagan Remember Reagan The 1980 US presidential campaign pitted Republican Ronald
Reagan against Democrat Jimmy Carter. Why do you think Reagan beat Carter? Reagan inherited an
economy that was in bad shape. The prime lending rate was like 15%, credit cards were 15 25%, there
was gas rationing and soaring inflation that was 20%. He had an economic plan that was about cutting
government size, taxes and building the US military back up. People got fed up with Carter and the
government taxes. Sounds kind of like the Tea Party movement... Sort of. The Tea Party is about
following the Constitution and amendments, cutting taxes and government size. But it is not a political
party despite what most people think. They have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What do you know about that? The US government tried to negotiate, rescue and embargo Iran for the
hostages taken under Carters administration. They were released when Reagan was elected. He dealt
from a position of power and the Iranians respected that. The US government eased economic
sanctions prior to the release too... What about religion? What did the new right and religious right
have to do with the era of Reagan? Well, born again Christians were becoming more vocal in the 70 s.
Pat Robertson, Falwell, Jim and Tammy Fay Baker. They had a lot of followers and money and they
were conservative in their views. Abortion, feminism, homosexuality and the separation of church and
state were all fought over. The right was for traditional values of the bible, against abortion, gays and
some views of feminism. Reagan supported the same conservative views so he gathered much of their
support. It also allowed him to tap into the financial support of this branch. How about the
assassination attempt? Why did that happen? Sirhan Sirhan? No, John Hinkley, Jr. I think he (Hinkley)
was in love with Jodie Foster and thought that Reagan was in the way. Shot him with a .22, but
Reagan survived. He bounced back pretty quickly and became even more driven. References Brinkley,

Volatility within Electronic Communication Essay
Volatility within Electronic Communication
It has been noticed on several different forums for several decades that communicating on the internet
can be downright mean. Anonymity, lack of accountability, absence of visual cues, and perceived
distance has led to the increased hostility and rudeness on internet social media. This uncivil
communication has also been shown to hurt the perpetrator more than it hurts whoever is on the
receiving end (Rope, n.d.). As a result, it has been determined that face to face communication is more
productive and healthy than communication via electronic formats for all parties involved in the
conversation.
This volatile communication is not a recent development following the explosive growth of ... Show

An additional factor that makes virtual communication so misunderstood is that a part of the message,
the sender s tonality and body language, is removed in virtual communication, thus removing a large
part of the overall message. Just think about this for a moment, remove eye to eye contact, the
emphasis or urgency in the voice of the sender, or even a simple roll of the eyes. People are accustom
to communicating face to face, allowing them to pick up on the subtle cues that body language gives
during conversation. By not seeing the body language involved, large portion of the message is not
sent, received or understood, thus changing the meaning of the message, and quite possible drastically
in certain cases. Gardner states in her article, Troll Psychology: Why People Are So Mean on the
Internet, that when humans are faced with guesswork and ambiguity, they often perceive it as
threatening and react accordingly (page 1). Overall, the message that Gardner is attempting to convey
here is, that when important, yet subtle, cues are removed, the human brain reverts to its basic survival
instincts of fight or flight. In doing this, the message is taken as a threat, and the receiver reacts
accordingly with a negative retort.
Not only can communication lack the needed cues given by body language, but often times reader
comments following a factual news story can alter what other readers may think about the

Freedom Extended Definition
Freedom Lives Within
Three people are walking down a New York City street. One is a Black man, one is an Asian woman,
and the other person is a White man. One can easily picture the three people walking beside one
another because the image is not bizarre or strange, rather; the image is completely normal. The vision
is normal because these three American citizens have the freedom to walk where they choose, with
whom they choose. The word freedom is often overlooked and taken for granted by those who have it.
A popular idea of freedom is: Freedom lets someone do whatever he chooses to do. Although this
thought of freedom is technically correct, the phrase barely scratches the surface of the idea of
freedom.
Freedom comes from Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing Nursing Evidence Based Practice Findings of evidenced based practice have to be disseminated to ensure that innovations for practice are replicated or applied in other settings by stakeholders in the health fraternity and healthcare professionals (Forsyth, Wright, Scherb Gaspar, 2010). One of the objectives of dissemination should be to improve the practice. Dissemination of evidenced based practice findings in nursing is very critical in knowledge synthesis, translation, and translation. It is imperative in strengthening healthcare, informing policy, and improving practice decisions based on clinical evidence (Rycroft Malone Bucknall, 2010). This is realized by transforming clinical changes into practice. It actually involves two stage processes namely: translation of evidence into practice and integration of research recommendations into actual practice. Effective dissemination of evidence based practice findings enable staff to share information about developments in healthcare practice and implement innovation (Freemantle Watt, 1994). Dissemination enables healthcare professionals to make decisions based on the quality of information they receive on effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a proposed healthcare intervention. Dissemination of evidenced based research findings using any medium enables health facility staff members to access research findings and critique the findings (Bradley, McSherry McSherry, 2010). • 3. Chapter Seventeen Of Exploring Ethics Summary In Chapter Seventeen of Exploring Ethics, Bernard Mayo discusses representatives of the ideal and how they give us examples to follow. Mayo uses the example of a Hero or a Saint that represent this ideal of morality. It s stated that they are people whom we are expected, and expect ourselves, to imitate . For those who follow the faith of Christianity, Jesus is the perfect example for this. Christ is written to never have sinned and to have lived his life doing only good deeds. An entire community of people read the words that are written and take that into consideration and strive to live a life like his. As we are most interested in answering questions about what affects mate choice, how mate competition plays out, and how the two may be related though, a few sets of descriptive statistical measures would best serve to characterize our findings with respect to these questions being asked. First to present general trends in display times in front of females a graph of the average display times of male fish in female presence could be included with breakouts on males with respect to size (larger, smaller, equal), dominance status (non dominate, dominate, and co dominate) and color (red vs blue). Here we are looking for a correlation between display time by the male fish and how it relates to the female s respective mate choice. As we are looking for a correlation we could conduct a spearman correlation test to see if any relationship between these two variables is present. 5: Was there any preference for the female to choose a mate based simply on the side of the tank he was located in? a. Here we are again testing a one sample nominal set of data, and as such a chia squared could be carried out to determine if tank side had any influence on mate choice of the female. • 5. The National League Of Major League Baseball Should there be a designated hitter in the national league in major league baseball? That is the question that is being asked around major league baseball by fans, owners, managers, and the players. If a team is playing in an American league ball park both teams must use a designated hitter in place of the pitcher. If a team is playing in a National league ball park both teams pitchers must hit instead of having a designated hitter. This is set to give each league an advantage when playing in interleague games because National league teams normally carry an extra pitcher while American league teams normally carry an extra hitter. However, injury concerns, numbers, and entertainment factors play a huge part in the designated hitter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An injury like this is more of a freak accident rather than an injury that could be prevented. A line drive up the middle that hits the pitcher may look bad, but in most cases they usually only miss a few starts. Generally it is concussions which there are proper protocols for concussion related incidents. This year two National league pitchers have been injured while hit. That may not necessarily seem like a high number, but it is when it is related to pitchers. Adam Wainwright is the ace of the St. Louis Cardinals and this year he had a season ending injury while he was leaving the box to run to first. In this example, the cardinals lost their ace for the year. Teams do not want to see their ace or any pitchers go down because it could affect their playoff aspirations. Even though Wainwright went down the cardinals are currently in first place of their division. They even have two pitchers with 10 wins or more, but it does not always happen like that. Take the Chicago Cubs for example who are currently in the race to be in position to contend for a wild card spot. Jon Lester is their best pitcher on their staff. This would ultimately end their season over something that could have been prevented if he was injured while at the plate. Major league baseball teams do not want to lose a great pitcher over something that could be avoided. Many people believe that this could be solved if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our Tech Support team has spent some time analyzing your Mission Plan s (MP). We are happy to see you using the Orbit Determination (OD) abilities of FreeFlyer. We do have some suggestions to help in simplifying your MP and evaluating your results. To recap, you have three separate MP s; the first is to setup your spacecraft and export the state vector as an ephemeris. This is mainly due to the Kalman Filter step size taking precedent in FreeFlyer and wanting to ensure that the spacecraft propagation is synced with the Kalman Filter. o Also under the Motion Model you are using 22 Zonal and Tesseral potential fields and the Analytic density model. This is apparent at reviews and other meetings when everyone involved with an individual will be brought up to date with any progress or issues. If there have been previous agreed actions not carried out then this environment makes it easier to remind others of the things that need completing. Also if others are having difficulties in fulfilling their agreements then they will find it easier to ask for help. Respect for each other should be maintained, remembering that we are all working for the best possible outcome for the individual. There is a need to monitor and review working relationships, if conflict or lack of communication is a problem there is a need to establish a reason for this and look for a resolution acceptable to all parties and identify areas for improvement. One way to maintain a good working relationship is to have regular contact not only verbal but face to face contact through meetings at least monthly, this provides opportunity to discuss any concerns or maybe just have a chat about things in general, also keep in touch via email and telephone. WI 38 was first discovered in 1964 when many pregnant women with Rubella were advised to abort their babies. The different factions thus created their own definitions of what being civilised, being a Briton and being a faithful subject of the Empire meant. Accordingly, this work draws together the Mutiny and the Rebellion, and uses them as a case study to trace and interpret one conception Punch s of Britishness and imperialism among the several which circulated in Britain at the time. ... She created suits and dresses for women and they became very popular and still are today. Another person that impacted design in the 1920 s was Thomas W. Lamb. He was known as a famous theater and cinema designer. For example, Thomas W. Lamb was known for designing hundreds of theaters and later known as the king of theaters (Gray). When Alice asked her parents if she could go, they said no. Alice could only go if she could find at least two friends to go with her. Alice asked her two best friends, Lea and Rachel. They said yes! Alice was so excited, This is going to be the best summer ever! The three girls met up together at Alice s house to discuss what they were going to need to pack. What is the weather like so I know what to pack, Rachel questioned Alice? Well, since the climate is arid and hot, with dry air masses trapped in the valley because there are mountains on both sides, you would probably need shorts and a tank top to keep cool. Probably, you will need shorts, tank tops, hiking shoes, sunscreen, and sunglasses, Alice replied. A hat too, Lea inquired? Alice answered, Yes. The sweeping curves of his women and the ethereal beauty of their gazes are recognized instantaneously: from a grandmother in a small town to the cognoscenti of New York or Paris, few can claim to be unmoved by his work. Patronized by the Vatican as well as one of the most rich and powerful Florentines of his time, Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de Medici, Botticelli was hugely popular in his own day. This passage could have countless connotations. The one that seems to make the most sense is that Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de Medici, upon the news of his upcoming marriage to Semiramide d Appiano, asked Botticelli to paint the Primavera using the figures that he did because they held a strong meaning for him since he received the aforementioned letter (Venturi 72). The way Venus is used in this picture along with the Three Graces, Mercury, Cupid, The Zephyr and Flora has mounds upon mounds of meanings. It is truly Neo Platonic. There are so many meanings, that if taken out of context, Venus could mean anything from lust to ideal beauty, to being the Goddess of April and gardens, along with Flora (Dempsey 260 261). If it is to be a gift to the bride or the married couple, it could suggest fertility being ushered in through Flora by way of Zephyr s actions. It could also be that the picture is showing the bride certain virtues she must possess through the Three Graces and a virginal, pure looking, wedding veiled Venus (see figure 2). • 28. Man s Search For Meaning Reflection Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl was an empowering, impactful, and memorable book. The brevity of the novel was refreshing and allowed me to purely understand what he intended. To me, Part One of this book was similar to the book Night by Elie Wiesel. They were both very honest and raw in their depiction of the holocaust and concentration camps. I enjoyed both books, they were insightful and opened my eyes to the nature of humanity. One specifically memorable thing that Frankl said was that both the people creating the gas chambers and the ones entering them were one in the same. Both books made me think, but Man s Search for Meaning was more reflective and encompassing. Reflection When reading Man s Search for Meaning, the quote man is more than psyche and the concept of logotherapy particularly interested me. I have never heard of either. Both of these topics peaked my interest. Man is more than psyche At first, I did not understand the simplicity of what Frankl meant by, man is more than psyche. I believed that there was something more to the quote, but I found that there is not. It is just what it says, man is more than psyche. Man has many features and characteristics, the psyche is an important one, but basing man on just psyche is unfair to humanity. While, I agree with Frankl, I can see why some would believe that the psyche is what defines man. The psyche influences a large part of our daily lives. Our emotions, thoughts, and actions are influenced by our psyche; these are often the defining characteristics of a person. However, I believe there is something that separates every one of us and defines humans. This is one s life purpose; it is rooted deep within us. Regardless of if we realize it, the life purpose is always within us, it is a matter of acknowledging it. It sets us apart from one another and individualizes us beyond our psyche. Another thing paired with life purpose is responsibility. One thing that Frankl says is that freedom must be paired with responsibility. In this I believe Frankl is saying that the freedom of life is congruent to having a responsibility of keeping the life purpose alive. I agree with Frankl. Life-Divination And Omens Chapter 11: Encountering the Present: Guidance for Life Divination and Omens Walton begins to discuss the ANE view of the present in this chapter, so he focuses on the usage and interpretation of divinations and omens as the guidance for life. The objective here is to discuss the epistemology for the knowledge driven divination and the practical application by magicians and other religious practitioners. The major discussion focuses on the two categories of divination as the inspired and the deductive along with the forms of them. Inspired divination targets on both official and informal prophecy and dreams. Walton states that prophecy generally concentrated primarily on the kings, and the function of the prophet was there to advise the king of what would be approving to the god who had spoken or who had reveled. Dreams varied from inspiration to one who actively sought a god as the last part of inspired divination. Other than the inspired divination, deductive divination comes from two types of events that can be observed in the physical realm: the active as extispicy or casting of lots; and the unprovoked ... According to the U.S. department of Health and Human Services [HHS], tobacco use is related to over 443,000 Americans death each year and has caused approximately 8,860,000 related illnesses (2016). Thus causing it to have a higher mortality rate than HIV, illegal drug use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined. Tobacco use is thus one of the Nation s deadliest and most costly public health challenges (HHS, 2016). Tobacco can cause the onset of multiple diseases, for example, cancer, cardiovascular disease, asthma, COPD, pregnancy complications, SIDS, and oral diseases (HHS, 2016). The prevalence of tobacco use has been gradually decreasing since the nineteen sixty s, but even today tobacco use is quite common. 2. The course of the disease: the concepts of incidence, prevalence, and case fatality. The concepts of the course of disease are not fully relevant to the subject of tobacco, but can be examined and applied in part. The concept of incidence is the rate of chance that a disease occurs over a period time (Riegelman Kirkwood, 2015, p. 298). In other words, it is the rate of new cases of a disease. There s two particular theory of attachment id agree with which would have to be Bowlby and Harlow theory. Attachment I believe comes from early age and it s based on how the caregiver takes care of their child and the emotional connection they share with their child. Harlow s theory states that babies are more attached to theirs mothers for the simple reason it s the parent that feeds them and shows protection, once they find that in a parent they become more in order to survive. There are different styles of attachments for example secure, insecure, avoidant, and anxious ambivalent. Secure attachment is when a child its upset when their caregiver leaves but once the caregiver returns they are able calm down. LANs must be connected physically to switches which means that each LAN must have its own switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The virtualized version of the LANs, virtual local area networks (VLANs), allows users to invest in only one switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The VLAN is used in a virtual data center environment to separate a single LAN into more than one network while being physically connected to only one switch. One advantage of VLANs is that network administrators can now sort devices by whatever criteria they require without physical location being an issue. Different VLANs can be set for different groups or departments within the same LAN. Performance is improved because, when the LAN is broken up into VLANs, it is not receiving broadcasts from all of the devices (certbros.com, 2015, para. 4). Cost is decreased because separate physical switches are not required for VLANs. A security benefit is provided because VLANs can be configured to accommodate the different security levels needed, and the administrator can choose whether or not to allow the VLANs to communicate with each other (certbros.com, 2015, para. 6). VRFs Virtualization is also used in the data center to acquire more routing instances without acquiring more hardware (Santana, 2014. P. 90). This technology is known as Virtual Routing and ... • 34. Second Language Acquisition ( Sla ) Theory Theoretical Framework The literature review of this research study is based on second language acquisition (SLA) theory. In this section I address a number of studies that have been conducted on vocabulary acquisition and share results of studies that are related to the topic. This is the framework I use for establishing the importance of the study and a benchmark of comparing results with other findings. Literature Review Vocabulary Acquisition History Since the early 1980s, research on second language vocabulary has taken a prominent role in the field of second language acquisition (SLA). Previously, learning a language was heavily based on learning grammar rules, which learners have to follow and understand in order to use correct grammatical sentences. As a result, that has led to a neglect of learning vocabulary as there was an assumption that vocabulary can be learned through communication and can take care of itself (Meara, 1980; Maiguaschca, 1993). A number of researchers (e.g., Carter McCarthy, 1988; McCarthy, 1990; Nation, 2010; Nation Laufer 2012; Schmitt, 2010) argue that vocabulary acquisition is the basic foundation of language learning because words are the building blocks of communication and without them, learners will not be able to express themselves and communicate by using a target language. This has led to the emergence of a growing body of research intended to discover and describe second language (L2) learners strategies for learning a target ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Right from the dictionary, the definition is clear. Look back 95 years to 1920, where women across America raised their voices and fought back for the right to vote. Now take a look back 48 years ago when in 1967, interracial marriage was finally legalized. These were all monumental events fighting against discrimination. In discussions of bills such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, or RFRA s, one controversial issue has been whether or not they permit discrimination. On one hand, those supporting the laws argue that they only reinforce the free practice of religion. On the other hand, those against them contend that with their vagueness it plays out as disguising legal discrimination. While the European movement tried to recreate the virtuous world of craft labor that was being destroyed by industrialization, Americans tried to establish a new source of virtue to replace heroic craft production: the tasteful middle class home. They thought that the simple but refined aesthetics of Arts and Crafts decorative arts would ennoble the new experience of industrial consumerism, making individuals more rational and society more harmonious. In short, the American Arts and Crafts Movement was the aesthetic counterpart of its contemporary political movement: Progressivism. Art Nouveau, 1890 1914, explores a new style in the visual arts and architecture that developed in Europe and North America at the end of the nineteenth century. The exhibition is divided into three sections: the first focuses on the 1900 World s Fair in Paris, where Art Nouveau was established as the first new decorative style of the twentieth century; the second examines the sources that influenced the style; and the third looks at its development and fruition in major cities in Europe and North ... • 45. Essay on Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations Charles Dickens Great Expectations stands as one of the most highly revered works in all of English literature. The novel s perennial appeal lies in its penetrating depictions of character, rich panoramas of social milieu, and implicit crusades against social evils.1 Dickens used the growth of his characters in Great Expectations, particularly Pip, in relation to others to write about social reform, and most effectively illustrated this by using the first person narrative style. In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens has written a social commentary using the development of his characters to illustrate his message. In my paper, I will concentrate on three of the main ... He shows in depth character transformation by showing his characters learning these lessons through suffering and hardships. Great Expectations is told by a first person narrator, the narrator being the main character, Pip. He tells about his own life of selfishness and greed and how he learned through his own experiences how to make himself useful and happy. This novel is a first person narrative because it is Pip s own story. Since it is about his own life it makes it easy for the reader to identify with Pip and what he is going through. In a first person narrative you know from the very beginning of the story the conflict between the narrator and the main character will be resolved.4 In Great Expectations the narrator is the main character grown up and telling about his experiences as a young boy. It would be difficult to tell a story unless you really understand the meaning and importance of it and you can only realize this through your own experiences. Pip s first encounter with Magwitch, an escaped convict, is down by the marshes where Pip is visiting his parents graves. Magwitch asks Pip, Where s your mother? Pip points to the grave and says There sir. 5 Magwitch is startled and we can sense that he was a bit frightened also. From Magwitch s nervousness we see that he is just as scared and unhappy as Pip. • 46. Descriptive Essay On Destitute Beauty Destitute Beauty In the large city of New York, there are many beautiful people. I am not one of them. I can pass hours away sitting in a coffee shop in a tall seat next to the window, watching the beauties pass, seeing my reflection against them even more bloated and lumpy than normal. Some of them notice me. Most of them don t. It doesn t matter. Like I said, New York is a large city, I ll never see them again. And anyway, I m sure they re used to people staring. How could they not be, they draw people with their large, black rimmed eyes and lean figures and cutting jawbones like dogs to the enticing smell of meat. I am just another dog, one they will forget in moments. And when the sun sets, and the beautiful people fade away and the crowd becomes faceless and intoxicated, that s when I leave, and where I stay until the sun rises, becoming one with the pulse and throb of the mass. Promising myself that the next day, yes, the next day, I ll get a job, ignore the cold, gorgeous people, succeed even with my lumps, and papery skin, and eyes that are just a little too far apart. And the next day, with my headache, I return. Today is yesterday and the day before. The sun is especially bright now, almost passive aggressively bright, shining smugly through the haze that buries the city, bouncing into the small cafe in which I spend most of my time. It s supposed to be homey, with nearly dead plants hanging skeletal by the windows and overstuffed couches near a coffee table. I sit in the uncomfortable seat that s almost comically tall, at the only table next to a window. The barista Ellen is chatting happily with a customer, she barely notices me anymore. Which is fine by me. A woman, with long legs and hollows under her cheekbones, struts past the café, a mere foot away from me. She doesn t notice my stare. It s a funny thing. People talk all they want about feeling when people stare at them, getting goosebumps and looking around frantically for their admirer. But either it isn t true, or I m not important enough for my stare to mean anything, hold any weight. Searching through the crowd, I find parts and pieces that I want most, playing a game I often play. Her taut stomach, her long legs, her bright eyes, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Reagan Interview Remember Reagan Remember Reagan The 1980 US presidential campaign pitted Republican Ronald Reagan against Democrat Jimmy Carter. Why do you think Reagan beat Carter? Reagan inherited an economy that was in bad shape. The prime lending rate was like 15%, credit cards were 15 25%, there was gas rationing and soaring inflation that was 20%. He had an economic plan that was about cutting government size, taxes and building the US military back up. People got fed up with Carter and the government taxes. Sounds kind of like the Tea Party movement... Sort of. The Tea Party is about following the Constitution and amendments, cutting taxes and government size. But it is not a political party despite what most people think. They have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What do you know about that? The US government tried to negotiate, rescue and embargo Iran for the hostages taken under Carters administration. They were released when Reagan was elected. He dealt from a position of power and the Iranians respected that. The US government eased economic sanctions prior to the release too... What about religion? What did the new right and religious right have to do with the era of Reagan? Well, born again Christians were becoming more vocal in the 70 s. Pat Robertson, Falwell, Jim and Tammy Fay Baker. They had a lot of followers and money and they were conservative in their views. Abortion, feminism, homosexuality and the separation of church and state were all fought over. The right was for traditional values of the bible, against abortion, gays and some views of feminism. Reagan supported the same conservative views so he gathered much of their support. It also allowed him to tap into the financial support of this branch. How about the assassination attempt? Why did that happen? Sirhan Sirhan? No, John Hinkley, Jr. I think he (Hinkley) was in love with Jodie Foster and thought that Reagan was in the way. Shot him with a .22, but Reagan survived. He bounced back pretty quickly and became even more driven. References Brinkley, A. (2012). American History (14th ed.). Retrieved from The University of Phoenix eBook Collection database. • 48. Volatility within Electronic Communication Essay Volatility within Electronic Communication It has been noticed on several different forums for several decades that communicating on the internet can be downright mean. Anonymity, lack of accountability, absence of visual cues, and perceived distance has led to the increased hostility and rudeness on internet social media. This uncivil communication has also been shown to hurt the perpetrator more than it hurts whoever is on the receiving end (Rope, n.d.). As a result, it has been determined that face to face communication is more productive and healthy than communication via electronic formats for all parties involved in the conversation. This volatile communication is not a recent development following the explosive growth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An additional factor that makes virtual communication so misunderstood is that a part of the message, the sender s tonality and body language, is removed in virtual communication, thus removing a large part of the overall message. Just think about this for a moment, remove eye to eye contact, the emphasis or urgency in the voice of the sender, or even a simple roll of the eyes. People are accustom to communicating face to face, allowing them to pick up on the subtle cues that body language gives during conversation. By not seeing the body language involved, large portion of the message is not sent, received or understood, thus changing the meaning of the message, and quite possible drastically in certain cases. Gardner states in her article, Troll Psychology: Why People Are So Mean on the Internet, that when humans are faced with guesswork and ambiguity, they often perceive it as threatening and react accordingly (page 1). Overall, the message that Gardner is attempting to convey here is, that when important, yet subtle, cues are removed, the human brain reverts to its basic survival instincts of fight or flight. In doing this, the message is taken as a threat, and the receiver reacts accordingly with a negative retort. Not only can communication lack the needed cues given by body language, but often times reader comments following a factual news story can alter what other readers may think about the ... • 49. Freedom Extended Definition Freedom Lives Within Three people are walking down a New York City street. One is a Black man, one is an Asian woman, and the other person is a White man. One can easily picture the three people walking beside one another because the image is not bizarre or strange, rather; the image is completely normal. The vision is normal because these three American citizens have the freedom to walk where they choose, with whom they choose. The word freedom is often overlooked and taken for granted by those who have it. A popular idea of freedom is: Freedom lets someone do whatever he chooses to do.
