Textuality Of Female Power Essay
In the modern American humanities classroom, whether it is literature, political science, or history,
faculty may find it quite difficult to construct a framework for the analysis of women s pan historical
place in power and in medieval and Early Modern British history, literature and popular culture. We
are confronted with the first questions why should American student care? How do I make this subject
interesting to them? And then we are faced with some practical pedagogical questions: where do I find
the textual evidence, historical research and gynocritical material to create a full syllabus? How do I
demonstrate the historicity of women s power and its circulation simultaneous with the containment of
patriarchal power? How do I move past medieval and Renaissance women s inherent marginality in
the surviving textual evidence and help my students make more complex their understanding of the
reach and limitations of queens and women who held power? What types of assignments might I
create to help students investigate the nuances of female power in medieval and Early Modern life? ...

Using Scholars and Poets Talk about Queens faculty can rely on multiple genres of textuality
historical scholarship, poetry, literary scholarship, drama and art history to show how undergraduates
and graduate students can move beyond patriarchal expectations. Scholars and Poets Talk about
Queens then both investigates the ways in which women in power shaped history while
simultaneously moving beyond the calcified, received traditions about women s roles in history that is
often undermined by the practicalities of textual

Rousey Research Paper
Now, it s officially official. There s no competition for UFC women s bantamweight champion Ronda
Rousey, who knocked out Bethe Correia in 34 seconds Saturday night at UFC 190. No, Cristiane
Cyborg Justino shouldn t be factored into the discussion because she has yet to set foot in a UFC ring,
or prove she can fight at 135 pounds. Most fight fans want to see a dream bout between Rousey and
Justino, but smart money would be on the same result as the rest of Rousey s (12 0) other fights.
In what was the most anticipated Rousey bout since an undefeated Cat Zingano stepped in the
Octagon with her, Correia entered UFC 190 with a purpose to dethrone the only women s
bantamweight champion in UFC history. Correia met Rousey Saturday night with an ... Show more

A few words of advice for future Rousey opponents: Don t piss her off before you step in the Octagon
with her Although, an angry Rousey is just as effective as a calm one.
If bashing Correia s face in wasn t motivation enough, tragic circumstances added to her incentive.
Prior to Correia s destruction, Rousey took to social media to dedicate the fight to WWE wrestling
legend Rowdy Roddy Piper, who passed away Friday due to cardiac arrest.
Rousey, who admired Piper, asked him if she could use the nickname Rowdy as her own in 2008.
Piper obliged and Rousey has used the moniker in her unblemished career ever since. It s safe to say
that Piper would have been proud of Rousey s performance Saturday night.
Correia may have made her most disastrous mistake before she ever entered the Octagon with Rousey
She underestimated the American phenomenon. Entering her fight with Correia, Rousey established
herself as one woman demolition squad. The champ s previous four fights lasted a combined 2:34 with
all four finishes coming in the first round, including a 14 second submission of Zingano, which is the
fastest finish ever in a UFC title

Pike Place Market In Seattle
Pike Place Market in Seattle, is one of my favorite places to visit. It is part of the historic district in
Seattle and is only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas day. The rest of the year you can find a
great meal at one of over 80 restaurants, the perfect gift or souvenir from one of their many owner
operated shops, and you can even find food and flowers for your daily home needs.
Pike s was originally opened as a farmers market in 1907 and today, 110 years later it is so much more
than a place to meet the local food growers and purchase local foods. Now you can find crafts, fresh
farm foods, and even specialty food stores. The restaurants open first, many of them at 6 am serving a
great breakfast to start your day and the fresh seafood

Dr. Einstein And Sigmund Freud Essay
Soumaya Bahlouli Make Up Monthly Annotation 1. The Einstein Freud Correspondence, by Albert
Einstein and Sigmund Freud in the years 1931 and 1932, with references to articles and
correspondences that will be cited parenthetically. 2. The correspondence shared between Einstein and
Freud discussed the psychoanalytical aspect of war and how human character, flaw and greed affect
the causes and effects of war. Einstein reached out to Freud after the First World War, as requested to
do so by the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IIIC), to discuss what he called a
subject calculated to serve the common interest of the League of Nations and of intellectual life. His
central argument surrounds wars between nations, international affairs, but agrees that these greater
wars must originate at the individual. Einstein continues, not to explain why men engage in acts of
war and violence, but to suggest ways in which war can be resolved by setting up, by international
consent, of a legislative and judicial body to settle every conflict arising between nations... [that
would] abide by the orders issued by this legislative body, to invoke its decision in every dispute, to
accept its judgments unreservedly and to carry out every measure the tribunal deems necessary... He
believes that laws governed by the community, instead of individualistic oligarchies, will do well to
succeed. This does eventually somewhat translate to actual law during World War II: First, that

Mammals Research Paper
Mammals Mammals are warm blooded vertebrates that can be distinguished by a few factors. The first
one being, they give birth instead of laying eggs. Another is that if it is a female, then she has the
ability to produce milk to feed her young. Also some other things like the internal structure of the
heart, as they only have one main artery that leaves the heart curved to left, identified as the aortic
arch. Mammals are also endothermic creatures, so can produce and regulate their own body heat. They
are classed under Mammalia. Gaseous exchange system: Mammals Gaseous exchange for mammals

a system of airways which end in thin walled alveoli ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is essential to survive in their deep oceanic environment as water pressure increases the further
down it goes (this is known as hydrostatic pressure, which = height of the fluid (h) by the density of
liquid (p) times the gravity constant (g)). However, even after the lungs are collapsed, some air still
remains in the alveolar sacs and gas exchange persists. This could create problems with nitrogen being
produced when resurfacing which causes problems with the living tissues, so to minimise this
decompression sickness after diving at rapid speeds or great depths, the air sacs collapse and push the
remaining air back into the bronchioles where the cartilages surrounding the tube prevents from any
gas exchange from occurring before

Character Sketch Of The Character Of Miss Maudie
Take a moment to think about the quintessential Favorite Aunt. What makes her the favorite? Does she
have a loud mouth and a strong will? Does she watch out for you no matter what? In To Kill a
Mockingbird, Harper Lee works hard to paint Miss Maudie Atkinson (Miss Maudie) in a perfectly
flawed manner. From the beginning when her house burns down, through the Tom Robinson trial, and
all the way to the end, Beautifully stubborn and fearlessly caring are two of the character traits that
define Miss Maudie Atkinson (Miss Maudie) throughout the novel. Miss Maudie bases her way of life
on her beliefs, and in her beliefs she does not waver. One of the very first things we learn about her is
that she loves to garden. We also quickly learn that she is a Christian. However, when the Baptists
come by her house and tell her she s going to hell for gardening, she does not stop. Gardening is
something she loves, and she believes doing what you love makes God happy. She doesn t care if the
Baptists think she s damned, she is going to do what she thinks is right. The unwavering persistence in
her beliefs established early in the novel sets the stage for further acts of nonconformity, such as her
opposition to watching the trial of Tom Robinson. When asked is she is going to the trial, she simply
states, I am not. t s morbid, watching a poor devil on trial for his life. Look at all those folks, it s like a

The Jungle and In the Waiting Room
In today s world immigration and emigration has vastly increased. With these increased movements
around the world, the lack of communication creates many consequences. Without a language in
common the attempt at communication is a difficult process. In The Jungle, Upton Sinclair explores
the consequences of language barriers through a new immigrant family. The Lithuanian family do not
have the language skills required for their new life in America and everyday life is a struggle. The
problems that rise from a lack of communication lead to a path of destruction for the family.
Additionally, these problems eventually lead to devastation, manipulation and cause mental and
physical health issues. So, Sinclair presents the consequences they ... Show more content on

To draw attention to a specific topic in the texts emphasis is created through other methods. Authors
can fix the reader s attention to specific details they want to emphasize through the point of view in
the story. In both texts, different points of views are used to highlight the serious outcomes of
language barriers. Sinclair uses 3rd person omniscient point of view throughout the story and focuses
on Jurgis experiences and actions. Using an omniscient point of view allows Sinclair to explain to the
reader the outcome of certain actions before the characters experience them. As the family first
experiences the setting of their new life, the narration is used to show their lack of knowledge: They
were not sure that it was unpleasant, this odor; some might have called it sickening, but their taste in
odors was not developed (Sinclair 2) . The narration hints towards a future filled with unhappiness, it
foreshadows devastation from a lack of knowledge about the new environment. From the narration the
reader knows the future of the family but the characters themselves are not aware: Elzbieta, alas, did
not read the papers, and no one had told her; but perhaps it was as well, for just then they would not
have had the carfare to spare to go every day to wait upon the surgeon, nor for that matter anybody
with the time to take the child (Sinclair 13). The narrator focuses on certain character s actions to

text and be supported by reference to appropriate techniques of prose fiction such as: Characterisation,

imagery.
Choose a novel or short story with a central character you consider to be heroic, Show how the heroic
qualities are revealed and discuss how this portrayal of the character enhances your understanding of
the text as a whole.

Many complaints recently have revolved around the strong targeting the weak. In Alan Bolds short

This shows Gordon Miller becoming heroic as he is standing up to the vandals who have been
tormenting him. This gives us the understanding that certain people can only take so much stress and
disruption in their lives before they come to the end of their tether and retaliate. The last sentence in
the story is an image of Miller sitting playing with a set of Roman Soldiers . This shows that Gordon
Miller is a lot more complex than Bold let us believe. He likes order and stability in his life, he does
not like change and disruptions. As he is playing with the Roman Soldier set this represents the order
that he likes in his life.
In conclusion revealing Gordon Millers personality slowly throughout the short story Bold uses a
number of techniques such as pathos, setting, imagery and word choice. Through these we feel
empathy towards Gordon Miller and understand why he proceeded taking the heroic actions that he
did. This helps the reader not to dislike Miller for his actions but feel happy for him that he finally got
justice on the vandals.

The Australian wine Yellow Tail engaged in cause related marketing when they donated $100,000 to

because Yellow Tail did not do their homework before donating to a cause. If Yellow Tail had done

several issues found with the charity . When Yellow Tail donated to the HSUS, it made it seem like

While I do not approve nor agree with the lap dances act during the half time show, I do believe it was
a well thought out effort to generate publicity. Nonetheless, I do think the team could have executed it
with a little more class especially in light of the children at the event. It is likely that the team may
have only considered fans that were 20 30 year old males when they created the halftime show. With
professional indoor lacrosse in its infancy, the Boston Blazers needed a way to get attention whether it

Fiddler On The Roof Analysis
Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein s 1964 classic Fiddler on the Roof, previewed by
Wright State University on November 1, 2017 under the direction of W. Stuart McDowell, highlighted
the balancing act one family has with their time honored traditions. With not only the encroachment of
Russian influence, the small Ukrainian village of Anatevka had to learn how to keep their Jewish faith
strong in the midst of changing times, power, and the whims of the lead s daughters. Inspired by the
French painter Marc Chagall, the overall design supported the themes of the show and abstract style.
Produced in a more presentational style, the lighting, costume, and set design were essential and
effective in clarifying the focus of the production and worked well in conjunction. Matthew P.
Benjamin s lighting gave focus to the production and supported the mood in each moment. Being the
driving character for the show, focus was often given to Tevye, especially during his monologues.
Even when other characters were on stage, including members of his family, the lights came down and
Tevye would be under a tight focus during these moments like when Tzeitel and Motel express their
intentions to get married in Act 1 and subsequently Perchik and Hodel s same wish in Act 2. Another
time focus was given to the characters in a scene rather than the overall setting was during the Fruma
Sarah sequence. The use of shinbusters in wing one and cross light gave more focus to the action and

Abraham Moslow Essay
Abraham Moslow
The theorist I chose was Maslow, he was born in 1908 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the first of
seven children born to his parents, Jewish immigrants from Russia. His parents, hoping for the best for
their children in the New World, pushed him hard for academic success. He became the psychologist
who many people consider the founder of a movement called humanistic psychology. The movement
developed as a revolt against behaviorism and psychoanalysis, the two most popular psychological
views of the mid 1900 s. Humanistic psychologists believe individuals are controlled by their own
values and choices and not by the environment, as behaviorists think, or by unconscious drives, as
psychoanalyst believe. Maslow stressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our day to day life we exhibit these needs in our desires to marry, have a family be a part of a
community, a member of church, brother part of a fraternity, a part of a gang or a bowling club. It is
also a part of what we look for in a career. The esteem needs. Next we begin to look for a little self
esteem. Maslow noted two versions of esteem needs, a lower one and a higher one. The lower one is
the need for the respect of others, the need for status, fame, glory, recognition, attention, reputation,
appreciation, dignity, even dominance. The higher form involves the need for self respect, including
such feelings as confidence, competence, achievement, mastery, independence, and freedom. This is
the higher
form because, unlike the respect of others, once we have self respect, it is a much harder to lose. The
negative version of these needs is low self esteem and weakness complexes. Maslow felt that Adler
was onto something when he stated that these were at the roots of many, even of our psychological
difficulties. In modern countries, many of us have what we need in regard to our physiological and
safety needs. Sometimes we even have reasonable amount of love and sense of belonging. It is a
respect that often seems hard to get! The next four levels Maslow calls deficit needs, or D needs. If
you do not have an adequate amount of something it would make it a deficit .We feel

Black Comedy In Martin Mcdonagh s The Lieutenant Of Inishmore
Black comedy is a form of comedy which takes serious issues off macabre nature, and treating them in
an acrid and humorous way Their taboo themes make human existence seem ironic and pointless,
providing a cathartic and disturbing experience for audience members. Martin McDonagh s black
comedy play, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, set in Northern Ireland, explores the absurd nature of
human suffering. Offensive issues embedded throughout the play are; animal abuse, strong violence
and invective language. These confronting issues are openly exposed through Michaela, Kendra and
Frasers performance (Scene eight). This groups use of comedy was very effective in portraying the
key messages, ultimately provoking new ideas for audience members.
Black comedy is highlighted throughout Michaela, Kendra and Fraser s performance. Their diverse
use of comedic techniques, which represent taboo issues of animal cruelty, confront the audience.
Their performance (scene eight), revolved around the life of a cat with an owner who symbolised a
monster. Padriac, the owner, (played by Fraser), casually kills lives of innocent animals just to hear
confession. This idea itself, is oddly tragic. Padriac chooses the life of his cat over any human being.
However, this dark and obscure idea was performed in a humorous and intensely meaningful way. A
fake toy cat was stuffed with tomato sauce and kidney beans, representing the cat s brain. Once the
gun was shot, the fake brains gushed over Davey s

King Arthur Chivalry Code
In modern day society, the world has very strict cultural rules. In some places in the Pacific Ocean, it
is considered rude to wear shoes inside of the house, and in the southern nation of the US it is
considered rude to refer to an adult without the phrase, ma am or sir. Issues of what is respectable or
accepted have always existed since the first civilized culture. However, there is one form of
respectable manners that have followed the people throughout the growth of the world. This form is
the code of chivalry, first recognized in the Arthurian time of the knights. The knights had to follow
this code just how modern day people would follow the law. The code is created by the moral
conceptions of courage, honor, loyalty, and manners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All three of these texts involve battles and brave choices made by the heroic characters who each go
on a journey, have an encounter with the gods, either in a positive way or in a negative way. Then they
always end up fighting in a battle of some sort, physical or mental, and prove themselves worthy to be
the leader of the land. However, the entire chivalric code was not fully existing by this point of
culture, there might have been the idea of strength and honor being incredibly vital for a man s rank in
social status, but the key point is man. There was no and absolutely any wiggle room for women to be
recognized as equal human beings at all. The beginning of the Iliad even includes the unchivalric acts
of the behavior towards women. Achilles and King Agamemnon were arguing the right of having the
young lady as their prize, but of course the lady never did get any sort of say in it. The Odyssey also
displayed this kind of behavior towards females, Odysseus was very unfaithful in his relationship,
while his wife was not, but he was still questioning her loyalty and even threatened death if she was
caught in a fib. Yet, The Aeneid had a different approach to the origination to the chivalric code of
treatment of women, there was no unpleasant treatment of women, yet the female characters were still

Pausch By Pausch Summary
The story started with an unexpected twist. I expected this book to be about a professor who is retiring

only a few months more to live. I want to know whether he will actually survive or if this is yet
another misread fortune doctors give out. After reading through the introduction, I can predict that
Pausch will die from the cancer. I won t be ready for it. I found it rather sarcastic when he stated that
he was in terrific physical shape and then said that he had ten tumors in his liver. I can say that having
ten life threatening tumors in your liver is not very healthy. I think that Pausch meant for it to be

Racial Segregation Research Paper
Racial segregation in the United States continued even after the Civil War, in the form of laws
requiring separation of people by race and in the form of ubiquitous discrimination and widespread
social resistance to integration. But even during the height of racial segregation and discrimination,
people in the performing arts pushed their audiences to reconsider their prejudices and assumptions
regarding classification and disparate treatment of people based on race. Broadway s and Hollywood s

Rhetorical Analysis Of Shampoo Advertising
Shampoo advertisements use Visual Rhetorical appeals to convince consumers to buy a certain
shampoo. The Fantastic Four exemplify the way that these shampoo ads use rhetorical appeals to sell
products. The Fantastic Four made it apparent that Shampoo commercials bundle a set of values and
false hopes with their product which allows them to be successful. They made appeals by using
characters, setting, and actions these ads successfully appealed to ethos, pathos, and logos, revealing
why shampoo ads are successful. There are two different ads, a L Oreal commercial and a Head and
Shoulders commercial, with two major distinctions. In the L Oreal commercial the person narrating
the ad is a woman and the character that appears is a woman. In the Head and Shoulders ad both the
character and narrator is a man. The L Oreal d shows a L Oreal shampoo bottle sitting by a pool. It
then cuts to the shampoo being squirted into a hand and ends with the bottle being held by a happy
consumer. Throughout the L Oreal commercial a woman s voice explains all of the benefits that come
with using L Oreal. The Head and Shoulders shows a man holding a Head and Shoulders shampoo
bottle followed by the same man catching the bottle multiple times. The imagery ends with the
shampoo placed on the edge of a bathtub. The Head and Shoulders ad is fully narrated by a man. The
narrator repeatedly says that the shampoo cannot be dropped. The first defining element that both ads
used were characters. The

Mark 12 Research Paper
While Mark 12 is told by someone who was a part of the early Christian church, Isaiah 5 was told by
the prophet Isaiah. According to Elmer A. Leslie the Vineyard Song, as Isaiah 5:1 7 is most often
called, was mostly given at the autumnal festival of Booths. Leslie refers to the song as a prophetic
appeal to the house of Israel, the Northern Kingdom, and to the house of Judah, the Southern
Kingdom, for justice and righteousness of conduct in every human relationship. Isaiah the son of
Amoz prophesied from 742 701 BCE. During this time, Isaiah s focus was to communicate YHWH s
will for his people to the Israelites. Isaiah particularly focuses on the periods between 735 500 during
a time in which Israel was divided and turning away from YHWH. Most importantly, Isaiah 5:1 12
was told by an Israelite, for the Israelites. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear both through Mark and John, as well as the rest of the gospels, that in the Christians
tradition, Jesus is necessary for people to have a relationship with God. In Mark 12:1 12, the tenants
are unable to give the fruit directly to God. The fruit must be delivered by servants and when the
servants are unsuccessful in retrieving the fruit, the son is sent. Mark says that this new way of
reaching God will work; the people just have to accept the son. The parable itself, as told by Jesus
within the story of Mark, is directed at the Pharisees. The parable is told immediately after Jesus
throws people out of the temple and directly confronts the Pharisees. From a current Christian
perspective that reads optimistically into Mark s intentions, it can be concluded that by tenant Mark
only means those who have rejected the notion of the son and not the entire Jewish people. With this
understanding, Mark is speaking to everyone. Mark is preaching that anyone can have a relationship
with God so long as they do not act as the tenants do; so long as people accept the son and through

Symptoms And Treatment Of Migraine
Pharmacological Treatment of Migraine
Chronic migraine is a significant disorder as approximately 2 percent of the world s population suffers
from it. In 2010 the World Health Organization ranked migraine as the 19th leading cause of medical
related disability in high income countries. (Young, 2014) Preventive treatments are often given to
patients with frequent migraine, which is considered to be more than four headache days per month.
Many migraine patients are prescribed medicines as a preventive treatment and a majority of drugs
used as migraine preventatives are actually medications developed to treat other disorders such as
certain antihypertensives, antidepressants, seizure medications, and even Botox. (Young, 2014) My
client, AB, has chronic migraine and also takes daily medications for migraine that are often used to
treat other disorders.
Patient Demographics and History
Upon interviewing, my client AB disclosed that she has chronic migraine headaches. My client is a 38
year old single white female, classified as middle class, who is a master level student. AB has full time
employment in an office and customer service setting. She stated that she has experienced migraines

Analysis Of Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451
A world full a blank expressionless faces connected to even more mindless robotic people. A world
where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the way to
becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book
Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the book.
Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into this leader
his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s story is broken into
three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy tale couple and then

Everything that had happened that day boiled up inside him and he began to contemplate his whole
life. I m numb he thought. When did the numbness really began in my face? In my body? The night I
kicked the pill bottle in the dark, like kicking a buried mine, (Bradbury 73). In this scene Montag
realizes that he has no emotions. He had been avoiding feeling anything for so long that he forgot
what it felt like to feel. While Montag pushed himself into his work, as a fireman, Millie got absorbed
into a virtual world. Millie became obsessed with her family in the walls because by focusing on their
problems she could forget about her own. In our world today new technology comes out everyday.
With all this technology at our hands kids are spending more time on their phones or playing video
games then talking to friends or family. We now have virtual reality goggles in which you can create
your perfect life. This googles are just as bad as the parlor walls, that Millie watches. We may not be
burning books as the fireman did in Fahrenheit 451 but we have forgotten about them which is just as
bad. But we can change just if we take time to look around and notice how bad our world has gotten
because it s never too late. Just as every great story and society must have a beginning everything
must come to an end at sometime. Will we end in a fiery death from global warming or take control of
our lives as Montag did and hang around as long

Prioritizing roofing system candidates
If you have the responsibility to plan and select an inventory of roofing areas to receive roof coatings,
the timing and priority of the installation is an important step. First you need information, to make
better informed decisions to identify the best roof section candidates and avoid an installation window
that could lower the coating service life or substantially increase the roof system preparation. All
buildings age and deteriorate. Its also common to have deferred maintenance, a flaw in roof design
and or original construction that has impacted the roofing system performance. No surprise that
known problems will also add risk factors to a roof coating installation. A best practice is to start with
a method to maintain good records for the as built roof system data, defect histories, leak calls and
maintenance histories will allow more consistent rating and ranking of roofing areas.

Driving Forces Affecting The Environment And Competitive...
There are several driving forces affecting the environment and competitive structure within the child
care. We will examine them in greater detail below.
As technology advances, more and more consumers are looking to the internet to make their
purchasing decisions, including child care. In addition, to fully research options, consumers are
looking for more robust, interactive websites. Therefore, some child care centers are offering virtual
walkthrough s of their facility on their website. Additionally, many centers offer tuition calculators
(customizable pricing based on hours required and the child s age), real time waiting list information,
and the facility calendar up to one year in advance. Another is the increase in the ability to ... Show

As incomes rise the market for premium child care options, which may include upgraded preschool
options, nutritional offerings to cater to many different diets and eating styles (e.g. vegan, Paleo, nut
free, gluten free etc.). Conversely, if the nay sayers have their way and the U.S. again faces an
economic downturn and jobs are lost, the decreasing market will increase competition among child
care centers to attempt to maintain their market share.
Some Montessori s participate in the state subsidy programs which assist low income families in
paying for their child care. This expands their market and increases their market share, however to
participate in these programs requires the center be susceptible to the frequent regulatory and
governmental policy changes. This can place an exceptional burden on the child care providers to
remain abreast of the requirements and meet them, despite the possibility of frequent changes.
One other area of concern for local Montessori s and child care centers nationally is the fluctuations in
societal concerns for the children enrolled. In the past twenty years public opinion, research, and
scholarly recommendations have oscillated between enrollment results in lower development in the
child, to enhanced development and everything in between. While public opinion certainly affects the
industry, parents will still need child care, therefore this driving force has a rather weak influence on
the industry.

Futurism Essay
FUTURISM
Futurism (lat. Futurus = future) was a movement in literature, visual art, fashion, architecture, theatre,
music and film in the early 20th century, launched by Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.
Futurism appeared as a fervent denouncer of the past. Italian art represented the past Ancient,
Renaissance and Baroque art and culture. In the early 1900s, Italian artists and writers believed that
the Machine Age could have changed the situation and develop into a new awareness. F. Marinetti
called the new movement futurism to apprehend the idea of modernity, to glorify speed, technological
society, industrialism, dynamism, violence and youth.
Futurism appeared as a cult of power and dynamism, at the same time, in art, as a violation of
aesthetic norms using the production of art as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

great breasted locomotives, puffing on the rails like enormous steel horses with long tubes for bridle,
and the gliding flight of aeroplanes whose propeller sounds like the flapping of a flag and the applause

The passionate tone of manifest was expressing the principles of futurism being a dynamic art

The bureau, under the direction of the U.S. Army and General Oliver O. Howard, served to provide
freedmen with basic human necessities along with an equal opportunity to obtain and maintain
economic gain. However, the bureau failed to provide such promising provisions for several reasons.
First, aside from the negative disposition of White southerners towards black freedmen, the bureau s
leadership and their paternalistic views are responsible for its failure (McFeely, 1971). More
specifically, General Howard s lack of direct experience working with blacks and the conservative
views of senior army men (i.e., their harsh aversions toward blacks) contributed to the bureaus
inability to perform (McFeely, 1971). Second, the nations mood toward the Freedmen s Bureau was of
disdain as it interfered with the underlying agendas of white southerners to immobilize blacks from
gaining economic stability through land ownership. As a result, agent of the bureau were plagued with
difficulties and thus lacked support in securing an upward economic base for freedmen. Third,
President Andrew Johnson s opposition toward the Freedman s Bureau contributed to its inefficiencies
by limiting its resources and pardoning White farmers restoration of their property (McFeely, 1971).
This is political and economical leverage allowed the white farmers regain

Color Blindness In The Phantom Of The Opera
Social justice is the equal distribution of resources and opportunities, in which outside factors that
categorize people are irrelevant (Pachamama Alliance). Inequality in gender, race, sexuality, religion,
and possessions remain potent. While many businesses are working toward creating equal and just
environments for all of their workers, many problems regarding race and gender still plague even the
21st century, and these efforts to combat injustice are not always readily and well received. Frequent
theatre goers may be unaware that even the entertainment industry deals with discrimination against
women and people of diverse backgrounds. Although on stage it may seem like new shows are

The Phantom of the Opera also issued a similar type of casting method when naming Norm Lewis as
the first black actor to play the Phantom. However, the idea of color blindness is not a problem on
stage so much as it is off stage. The biggest problem that many black playwrights and directors face is
not that their work is not being produced, but that the pieces written about black communities by
white men are often racist. Because much of white privilege doesn t have any interaction with
blackness they have a tendency to congregate around pathology, and only focusing on particular things
in the urban environment high crime, single parenthood, things like that and then they sort of tag that
as being the black experience (Nichloson). Properly representing a culture different than the
playwright s or producer s without being racist is a very tedious and difficult task which is why it is
very important to have diversity in a show s production team. Black people are needed on the creative
team of a show about a black community in order to have a fuller perspective of what black is, what
black story is, and what black voice is (Nichloson). American theatre has its definite struggles with
gender and racial injustices, but theatres in Britain are facing the same problems on an even greater

this was the objective Andy Warhol was trying to convey. He painted the modern culture and in
essentially every pantry, ascertains a Campbell s Soup Can will be detected. It is something everyone

JC Penney: Product: Like its two competitors, JC Penney offers a variety of tangible goods for sale.
JC Penney caters to its customers with higher end products at an affordable price. It is similar to
Nordstrom s in the types of goods offered. It differs from Wal Mart because it has less variety. JC
Penney offers clothing, bed and bath products, home items, clothing accessories, and patio furniture.
Clothing is the main area of production for JC Penney and accounts for more than 50% of sales.
Price: JC Penney has recently decided to move to three kinds of prices: everyday, monthly specials,
and clearances. They came to this strategy through a variety of studies. First, using past sales data, the
company looked at consumers actual purchasing behavior, and came up with what it terms Fair and
Square pricing, which means shoppers can expect lower prices in stores at all times. To reach this
conclusion, research showed 72% of JC Penney s revenue came from selling items priced at least 50%
off. Thus, in the example cited in most recent news stories about the Fair and Square strategy, a T shirt
that had retailed for US$14 but typically sold after markdowns at US$6, would now be priced at a
US$7 every day. Part two of Fair and Square means monthly deals, and in the T shirt example,

The Connections Between Renaissance Architecture And...
Renaissance ideas of the relationship of music and cosmology to architecture substantially predate the
15th century and were influential long after it. Discuss.
In this essay, I will not only be discussing at the connections between Renaissance architecture and
cosmology as well as music, but also the what Renaissance architecture is and how it played a key part
in architectural design today. The Renaissance period took place during the early 15th century to early
17th century, the age of Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Architects of the time took inspiration
from classical Roman architecture. This means it is an analysis of architecture in the ancient world,
especially ancient Greece and Rome. What the Renaissance learnt from the Romans has how they
used the space, looked at the form and had somewhat accurate measurements. And so, they copied
elements and modified it, for example, many columns having a slightly intruded appearance on walls
to give decoration to the building. They loved looking at the design and proportions and the mainly
thrived in Italy during the early semester. It wasn t until the latter years where Renaissance
architecture started to spread throughout Europe, where many architects were fading from the gothic
style previously used. However, large numbers of buildings incorporated a mixture of Renaissance and
Gothic styles. A famous building built during the Renaissance period is St Peter s Basilica, made in
Rome, which was designed by many

But America s 31st president, Herbert Hoover, didn t think so. While many people believed that
relying on the government was the answer, Hoover thought that self reliance and relying on each other
would relieve them of this economic crisis, not government intervention. And as the people kept
prying, Hoover kept refusing. Desperate for a place to call home, and knowing that the government
wasn t going to do anything to help, Americans and their families started building shantytowns in

  • 2. Textuality Of Female Power Essay In the modern American humanities classroom, whether it is literature, political science, or history, faculty may find it quite difficult to construct a framework for the analysis of women s pan historical place in power and in medieval and Early Modern British history, literature and popular culture. We are confronted with the first questions why should American student care? How do I make this subject interesting to them? And then we are faced with some practical pedagogical questions: where do I find the textual evidence, historical research and gynocritical material to create a full syllabus? How do I demonstrate the historicity of women s power and its circulation simultaneous with the containment of patriarchal power? How do I move past medieval and Renaissance women s inherent marginality in the surviving textual evidence and help my students make more complex their understanding of the reach and limitations of queens and women who held power? What types of assignments might I create to help students investigate the nuances of female power in medieval and Early Modern life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using Scholars and Poets Talk about Queens faculty can rely on multiple genres of textuality historical scholarship, poetry, literary scholarship, drama and art history to show how undergraduates and graduate students can move beyond patriarchal expectations. Scholars and Poets Talk about Queens then both investigates the ways in which women in power shaped history while simultaneously moving beyond the calcified, received traditions about women s roles in history that is often undermined by the practicalities of textual ... • 3. Rousey Research Paper Now, it s officially official. There s no competition for UFC women s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, who knocked out Bethe Correia in 34 seconds Saturday night at UFC 190. No, Cristiane Cyborg Justino shouldn t be factored into the discussion because she has yet to set foot in a UFC ring, or prove she can fight at 135 pounds. Most fight fans want to see a dream bout between Rousey and Justino, but smart money would be on the same result as the rest of Rousey s (12 0) other fights. In what was the most anticipated Rousey bout since an undefeated Cat Zingano stepped in the Octagon with her, Correia entered UFC 190 with a purpose to dethrone the only women s bantamweight champion in UFC history. Correia met Rousey Saturday night with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A few words of advice for future Rousey opponents: Don t piss her off before you step in the Octagon with her Although, an angry Rousey is just as effective as a calm one. If bashing Correia s face in wasn t motivation enough, tragic circumstances added to her incentive. Prior to Correia s destruction, Rousey took to social media to dedicate the fight to WWE wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper, who passed away Friday due to cardiac arrest. Rousey, who admired Piper, asked him if she could use the nickname Rowdy as her own in 2008. Piper obliged and Rousey has used the moniker in her unblemished career ever since. It s safe to say that Piper would have been proud of Rousey s performance Saturday night. Correia may have made her most disastrous mistake before she ever entered the Octagon with Rousey She underestimated the American phenomenon. Entering her fight with Correia, Rousey established herself as one woman demolition squad. The champ s previous four fights lasted a combined 2:34 with all four finishes coming in the first round, including a 14 second submission of Zingano, which is the fastest finish ever in a UFC title ... Pike s was originally opened as a farmers market in 1907 and today, 110 years later it is so much more than a place to meet the local food growers and purchase local foods. • 5. Dr. Einstein And Sigmund Freud Essay Soumaya Bahlouli Make Up Monthly Annotation 1. The Einstein Freud Correspondence, by Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud in the years 1931 and 1932, with references to articles and correspondences that will be cited parenthetically. 2. The correspondence shared between Einstein and Freud discussed the psychoanalytical aspect of war and how human character, flaw and greed affect the causes and effects of war. Einstein reached out to Freud after the First World War, as requested to do so by the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IIIC), to discuss what he called a subject calculated to serve the common interest of the League of Nations and of intellectual life. His central argument surrounds wars between nations, international affairs, but agrees that these greater wars must originate at the individual. Einstein continues, not to explain why men engage in acts of war and violence, but to suggest ways in which war can be resolved by setting up, by international consent, of a legislative and judicial body to settle every conflict arising between nations... [that would] abide by the orders issued by this legislative body, to invoke its decision in every dispute, to accept its judgments unreservedly and to carry out every measure the tribunal deems necessary... • 6. Mammals Research Paper Mammals Mammals are warm blooded vertebrates that can be distinguished by a few factors. The first one being, they give birth instead of laying eggs. Another is that if it is a female, then she has the ability to produce milk to feed her young. Also some other things like the internal structure of the heart, as they only have one main artery that leaves the heart curved to left, identified as the aortic arch. Mammals are also endothermic creatures, so can produce and regulate their own body heat. They are classed under Mammalia. This could create problems with nitrogen being produced when resurfacing which causes problems with the living tissues, so to minimise this decompression sickness after diving at rapid speeds or great depths, the air sacs collapse and push the remaining air back into the bronchioles where the cartilages surrounding the tube prevents from any gas exchange from occurring before ... • 7. Character Sketch Of The Character Of Miss Maudie Take a moment to think about the quintessential Favorite Aunt. What makes her the favorite? Does she have a loud mouth and a strong will? Does she watch out for you no matter what? In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee works hard to paint Miss Maudie Atkinson (Miss Maudie) in a perfectly flawed manner. From the beginning when her house burns down, through the Tom Robinson trial, and all the way to the end, Beautifully stubborn and fearlessly caring are two of the character traits that define Miss Maudie Atkinson (Miss Maudie) throughout the novel. Miss Maudie bases her way of life on her beliefs, and in her beliefs she does not waver. One of the very first things we learn about her is that she loves to garden. We also quickly learn that she is a Christian. However, when the Baptists come by her house and tell her she s going to hell for gardening, she does not stop. Gardening is something she loves, and she believes doing what you love makes God happy. She doesn t care if the Baptists think she s damned, she is going to do what she thinks is right. The unwavering persistence in her beliefs established early in the novel sets the stage for further acts of nonconformity, such as her opposition to watching the trial of Tom Robinson. When asked is she is going to the trial, she simply states, I am not. t s morbid, watching a poor devil on trial for his life. Look at all those folks, it s like a Roman Carnival (159). • 8. The Jungle and In the Waiting Room In today s world immigration and emigration has vastly increased. With these increased movements around the world, the lack of communication creates many consequences. Without a language in common the attempt at communication is a difficult process. In The Jungle, Upton Sinclair explores the consequences of language barriers through a new immigrant family. The Lithuanian family do not have the language skills required for their new life in America and everyday life is a struggle. The problems that rise from a lack of communication lead to a path of destruction for the family. Additionally, these problems eventually lead to devastation, manipulation and cause mental and physical health issues. So, Sinclair presents the consequences they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To draw attention to a specific topic in the texts emphasis is created through other methods. Authors can fix the reader s attention to specific details they want to emphasize through the point of view in the story. In both texts, different points of views are used to highlight the serious outcomes of language barriers. Sinclair uses 3rd person omniscient point of view throughout the story and focuses on Jurgis experiences and actions. Using an omniscient point of view allows Sinclair to explain to the reader the outcome of certain actions before the characters experience them. As the family first experiences the setting of their new life, the narration is used to show their lack of knowledge: They were not sure that it was unpleasant, this odor; some might have called it sickening, but their taste in odors was not developed (Sinclair 2) . The narration hints towards a future filled with unhappiness, it foreshadows devastation from a lack of knowledge about the new environment. From the narration the reader knows the future of the family but the characters themselves are not aware: Elzbieta, alas, did not read the papers, and no one had told her; but perhaps it was as well, for just then they would not have had the carfare to spare to go every day to wait upon the surgeon, nor for that matter anybody with the time to take the child (Sinclair 13). Choose a novel or short story with a central character you consider to be heroic, Show how the heroic qualities are revealed and discuss how this portrayal of the character enhances your understanding of the text as a whole. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows Gordon Miller becoming heroic as he is standing up to the vandals who have been tormenting him. This gives us the understanding that certain people can only take so much stress and disruption in their lives before they come to the end of their tether and retaliate. The last sentence in the story is an image of Miller sitting playing with a set of Roman Soldiers . This shows that Gordon Miller is a lot more complex than Bold let us believe. He likes order and stability in his life, he does not like change and disruptions. As he is playing with the Roman Soldier set this represents the order that he likes in his life. In conclusion revealing Gordon Millers personality slowly throughout the short story Bold uses a number of techniques such as pathos, setting, imagery and word choice. Through these we feel empathy towards Gordon Miller and understand why he proceeded taking the heroic actions that he did. This helps the reader not to dislike Miller for his actions but feel happy for him that he finally got justice on the vandals. Word Count: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The effort misfired because Yellow Tail did not do their homework before donating to a cause. If Yellow Tail had done their homework before donating to the HSUS, they would have found that Charity Navigator, a website that evaluates and rates various charities, has a donor advisory for the HSUS because of several issues found with the charity . When Yellow Tail donated to the HSUS, it made it seem like they were not honoring the hardworking farmers and ranchers that bring food and dairy to many peoples homes. • 11. Fiddler On The Roof Analysis Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein s 1964 classic Fiddler on the Roof, previewed by Wright State University on November 1, 2017 under the direction of W. Stuart McDowell, highlighted the balancing act one family has with their time honored traditions. With not only the encroachment of Russian influence, the small Ukrainian village of Anatevka had to learn how to keep their Jewish faith strong in the midst of changing times, power, and the whims of the lead s daughters. Inspired by the French painter Marc Chagall, the overall design supported the themes of the show and abstract style. Produced in a more presentational style, the lighting, costume, and set design were essential and effective in clarifying the focus of the production and worked well in conjunction. Matthew P. Benjamin s lighting gave focus to the production and supported the mood in each moment. Being the driving character for the show, focus was often given to Tevye, especially during his monologues. Even when other characters were on stage, including members of his family, the lights came down and Tevye would be under a tight focus during these moments like when Tzeitel and Motel express their intentions to get married in Act 1 and subsequently Perchik and Hodel s same wish in Act 2. Another time focus was given to the characters in a scene rather than the overall setting was during the Fruma Sarah sequence. • 12. Abraham Moslow Essay Abraham Moslow The theorist I chose was Maslow, he was born in 1908 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the first of seven children born to his parents, Jewish immigrants from Russia. His parents, hoping for the best for their children in the New World, pushed him hard for academic success. He became the psychologist who many people consider the founder of a movement called humanistic psychology. The movement developed as a revolt against behaviorism and psychoanalysis, the two most popular psychological views of the mid 1900 s. Humanistic psychologists believe individuals are controlled by their own values and choices and not by the environment, as behaviorists think, or by unconscious drives, as psychoanalyst believe. Maslow stressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our day to day life we exhibit these needs in our desires to marry, have a family be a part of a community, a member of church, brother part of a fraternity, a part of a gang or a bowling club. It is also a part of what we look for in a career. The esteem needs. Next we begin to look for a little self esteem. Maslow noted two versions of esteem needs, a lower one and a higher one. The lower one is the need for the respect of others, the need for status, fame, glory, recognition, attention, reputation, appreciation, dignity, even dominance. The higher form involves the need for self respect, including such feelings as confidence, competence, achievement, mastery, independence, and freedom. This is the higher form because, unlike the respect of others, once we have self respect, it is a much harder to lose. The negative version of these needs is low self esteem and weakness complexes. Maslow felt that Adler was onto something when he stated that these were at the roots of many, even of our psychological difficulties. In modern countries, many of us have what we need in regard to our physiological and safety needs. Sometimes we even have reasonable amount of love and sense of belonging. It is a respect that often seems hard to get! The next four levels Maslow calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you do not have an adequate amount of something it would make it a deficit .We feel ... • 14. Black Comedy In Martin Mcdonagh s The Lieutenant Of Inishmore Black comedy is a form of comedy which takes serious issues off macabre nature, and treating them in an acrid and humorous way Their taboo themes make human existence seem ironic and pointless, providing a cathartic and disturbing experience for audience members. Martin McDonagh s black comedy play, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, set in Northern Ireland, explores the absurd nature of human suffering. Offensive issues embedded throughout the play are; animal abuse, strong violence and invective language. These confronting issues are openly exposed through Michaela, Kendra and Frasers performance (Scene eight). This groups use of comedy was very effective in portraying the key messages, ultimately provoking new ideas for audience members. Black comedy is highlighted throughout Michaela, Kendra and Fraser s performance. Their diverse use of comedic techniques, which represent taboo issues of animal cruelty, confront the audience. Their performance (scene eight), revolved around the life of a cat with an owner who symbolised a monster. Padriac, the owner, (played by Fraser), casually kills lives of innocent animals just to hear confession. This idea itself, is oddly tragic. Padriac chooses the life of his cat over any human being. However, this dark and obscure idea was performed in a humorous and intensely meaningful way. A fake toy cat was stuffed with tomato sauce and kidney beans, representing the cat s brain. • 15. King Arthur Chivalry Code In modern day society, the world has very strict cultural rules. In some places in the Pacific Ocean, it is considered rude to wear shoes inside of the house, and in the southern nation of the US it is considered rude to refer to an adult without the phrase, ma am or sir. Issues of what is respectable or accepted have always existed since the first civilized culture. However, there is one form of respectable manners that have followed the people throughout the growth of the world. The Fantastic Four exemplify the way that these shampoo ads use rhetorical appeals to sell products. The Fantastic Four made it apparent that Shampoo commercials bundle a set of values and false hopes with their product which allows them to be successful. They made appeals by using characters, setting, and actions these ads successfully appealed to ethos, pathos, and logos, revealing why shampoo ads are successful. There are two different ads, a L Oreal commercial and a Head and Shoulders commercial, with two major distinctions. Leslie refers to the song as a prophetic appeal to the house of Israel, the Northern Kingdom, and to the house of Judah, the Southern Kingdom, for justice and righteousness of conduct in every human relationship. Isaiah the son of Amoz prophesied from 742 701 BCE. During this time, Isaiah s focus was to communicate YHWH s will for his people to the Israelites. Mark says that this new way of reaching God will work; the people just have to accept the son. The parable itself, as told by Jesus within the story of Mark, is directed at the Pharisees. The parable is told immediately after Jesus throws people out of the temple and directly confronts the Pharisees. From a current Christian perspective that reads optimistically into Mark s intentions, it can be concluded that by tenant Mark only means those who have rejected the notion of the son and not the entire Jewish people.
