markets
This will not only safeguard the interests of 6,200 small scale coffee farmers, but also facilitate the
maximization of returns from their coffee sales proceeds creating a sustainable community.
3.0 The summary of the cooperative
The cooperative runs an organic certified scheme with its farmers headed by a democratically
elected farmer board members who oversee the management, it only buys coffee from the small
holder certified farmers in parchment form, processes it and bags it in 60kg bags and exports. It
mainly sells its coffee to two American roasters of high quality coffee.
