Child-Rearing Traditions
A) Hunter gatherer/food forager is a lifestyle where people lived by foraging or killing wild animals
and collecting fruits, eggs, nuts, roots and berries for food while farming were those that depend on
agricultural practices for survival. They relied on their wits and muscles to acquire what nature
provided (page 103). Food forager avoids food production simply because of the hard work it
involves. They tend to have more time for play and relaxation than food producers (page 107). On the
other hand city dweller/food producer/gardener works longer hours compared to most food foragers.
They have deprived themselves of more and more of the land base necessary for their way of life,
foraging has become more difficult. The competition for resources ... Show more content on

In my culture, children are expected to follow the rules established by our parents. There is a
punishment for behaving badly or for a doing something wrong. We can t earn what we want until we
have a family talk about what we did wrong. For example, important family decisions must be
collectively accepted and followed. Getting training from our parents helps our children to keep
potential problems under control. Within my culture, eating and sleeping habits have changed.
Watching tv, playing video games, using social media all these factors lead to less sleep. These days
we can t even have a family dinner together than we used to have without electronics and because
everyone is busy with their lives. All these factors have changed us because life is nowadays. As for
eliminating, I would probably have to say in my culture it hasn t changed much. Culture is a major
factor in our lives. Our culture may determine when we sleep, what we wear and what we eat. It may
tell us what is right and what is wrong, and how to bring up our kids. Culture strongly influences our
thoughts, opinions, attitudes and behaviors. It impacts on the way we take care of ourselves and our
loved ones, the way we dress, eat, sleep and live our

Ethics Of Volkswagen Case Study
With billions of dollars invested and hundreds of thousands of Americans employed (Department of
Commerce, n.d.), the automobile industry has a vast influence in the United States. Since the time
Henry Ford developed the assembly line production (Statista, n.d.) the industry has grown into a
global market with no signs of slowing down. Top car companies are constantly searching for new
innovations to set them apart from their competitors. Among those companies is Volkswagen (VW). A
company which strides in emissions and fuel efficiency turned, not only to be false, but caused a
severe amount of damage (Ewing, 2016).
Volkswagen s Background Volkswagen is a German based company started in 1937 and owns a range
of subsidiaries including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, it took nearly six years for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finally
discover the company s scheme; possibly creating a false believe that the company could continue to
get away with it. Lastly, VW seemed to be obsessed with surpassing Toyota and becoming the world s
biggest car company (A Mucky Scandal, 2015), apparently determined to do whatever it took to
accomplish that.
The Impact on VW It is not hard to see that the scandal would cause a horrid blow to VW s image.
Until the incident, VW had, like many other German companies, the reputation of German
engineering (Robertson, 2013). However, instead of using that innovation to develop diesel fueled cars
compliant with U.S. standards, it decided to try to scam its way in the market. Not only did the
company admit to having 11 million cars with software intended to cheat tests (Gates, Ewing, Russell
Watkins, 2017), it also plead guilty to destroying evidence in an elaborate cover up (VW Admits
Emissions Cheating and Cover up, 2017); building further distrust among its consumers.
Brand Equity One thing that can make or break a company is its brand equity. Brand equity is the
value that comes with the familiarity with a company s branding and the feelings consumers have
towards that brand (Brand Equity, n.d.). A company with strong brand equity usually gives consumers
a sense of reliability and value; causing a higher inclination to purchase its products. It usually takes

Persuasive Essay About Beauty
Walking into BSW Beauty in Mattapan or any other beauty supply store in the hood is like walking
into another universe. Cheap ugly bright lipsticks grab your eye immediately. Bags of hair hang from
the ceiling. There is abundant amount of ECO Styler gel, cheap gold jewelry, and every hair accessory
known to any human. It is a home to many beautiful Brown women struggling to make themselves fit
society s definition of beautiful in a world that does not pay them any mind. If you look past owners
who often are not of the community, indiscreetly following customers around as if they are going to
steal something, and the lasting effects of colonization that are hidden in the ingredients of the skin
lightening lotions on the shelves of the skin care aisles, it is almost an Utopia, almost. And while it
may not an Utopia, it is a home. It is the kind of magic that is the result of most hood creations. They
tried to destroy us, but we still here. Scraping the dirt and grime from the bottoms of barrels and still
making it look golden. Can you see, it s in our strides, and it s in our appearance. And our appearances
the fashions that we wear, specifically feminine fashions have existed as a disruption of the politics of
poverty that say that poor people can t have nice things. Our fashions roar, making up for all the years
that the world tried to take our voices. How fitting that people who society says are worth nothing are
the people that are upholding themselves as royalty? This is

Strategic Human Resource Management Practices
STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
Strategic human resource is a technique allowing business to manage their human resources by giving
entity the imperative structure to achieve future objectives and aims. Focusing on continual issues
relating to employees, values, structure, culture, commitment and maintaining resources in an
organisation. It is also defined as the direction and scope of organization over longer term, which
ideally matches its resources to its changing environment, and in particular, to its markets, customers
and clients to meet stakeholder expectations. (Johnson, G and Scholes, K 1993. Exploring corporate

Kottler s Statement Analysis
In view, Kottler s statement may be perceived in a positive perspective. According to Kottler (2017),
the lies that counselors may tell themselves are not terrible self deceptions but rather strategies that
allow us to work in a field (Kottler, 2017). Interestingly, a counselor would tend to think that, in
general, all individuals are good people, even if it may be at times self deceptive. Counselors must
have an open mindset to have the ability to counsel clients. Therefore, a therapist will find and
encourage genuineness in a therapeutic relationship, build rapport with their clients as well as create
therapeutic interventions that may produce positive outcomes. For example, a counselor may assume a
self fulfilling prophecy about a client

The Cult Of Mithras And The Roman Empire
We may think that that cult origin by the fact that was taken from relevant scholars, but the early
development has remained consistently disputed. The Cult of Mithras began in the first century and it
was invented by the Roman Empire. When we think about the first century AD, Christianity is almost
very invisible during this time. The cult of Mithras development is mysterious. This religion is
invented by the Italians. Mithras provides members with sense of salvation if they proceed through the
seven stages of initiation, because the important aspect of the cult is that they must be successful, and
have spiritual bonding with their gods. If they do not success, they will face some consequences, but
members who follow this path will be rewarded and be offered compensation. In addition,
archaeological findings show that the Cult of Mithras does stay the same from the beginning of first
century to the end of fourth century AD. Archaeological evidence of the cult only depends on the
materials that existed during Roman Empire. One of the most important types of evidence that the
archaeological record shows is the nature and form of where these men worship, a Mithraeum . Much
of this worship buildings can be found in parts of Europe and they are mostly underground in a cave
and are constructed below an existing building. The first Mithraea and written first appear at the same
point in time, and clearly form part of the same cult even though they are found in geographically

The Music Of The Song
A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the
beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the
songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as to
describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back in
1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long enough
to surprise them with a powerful message.
The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but
significant change in the chords during the song. As she reveals in her lyrics and tone that this is not
meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This grievous happening dramatically influenced Simone s views and music. She believed that non
violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she mentions
how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she saw the
incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing, Simone
concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings, she wrote
her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly explains the
raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992).
Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the song
premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t belong
there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she sings, oh, but
this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. And then Simone desperately
pleads for the civil rights blacks have been denied for so long by saying, you don t have to live next to
me. Just give me my equality.
The audience and the nation was indubitably surprised by Simone s performance. Not only because of

Antisocial Personality Disorder Analysis
People suffering from an antisocial personality disorder exhibit extreme disregard for and violation of
the rights of others (Kearney Trull, 2015, p. 296). Individuals with this disorder are often reckless and
impulsive when it comes to the safety of others and they lack remorse for the harm they inflict
(Kearney Trull, 2015, p. 296). Those suffering from this disorder seem as if they do not care if they
inflict harm to others and many with this disorder have criminal records. The questions that arises
from those suffering from this disorder is whether when they were inflicting harm upon others did
they at the time understand right from wrong and can they be held accountable for their actions? Court
systems state that in order

The Wicked Problem Of Human Trafficking
Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is known worldwide as the modern day form of slavery. According to several
sources, 20 30 million people are currently enslaved or trafficked all around the world. This includes
groups of people or individuals being held against their will. Human trafficking can be described as
the use of force or fraud in order to gain control over another person. Over time, the wicked problem
has grown exponentially due to the supply and demand of things. By spreading awareness and facts,
human trafficking, as a wicked problem, could be controlled in the future.
A wicked problem is a cultural and social issue that is extremely difficult, nearly impossible to solve
due four reasons: lack of knowledge, unknown number of people involved, economic burden, and
problems connecting to other problems. Human trafficking involves desperate victims seeking for
opportunities. Victims attempt to find better jobs due to the poor conditions they live in. The new
figure is based on ILO data published in 2012 that estimated the number of people in forced labour,
trafficking and modern slavery at 21 million (Economics of forced labour, 2016) Each year, the
number of victims being trafficked increases, and it is difficult to find a ways to stops this wicked
problem when there the traffickers are finding ways to send victims to other countries without higher
authorities knowing. Human Trafficking is a huge issue but most victims are introduced forced to to
become slaves

A Violent Society Causes Domestic Violence Essay
People who are close to one another need to trust each other. We should trust our parents not to hurt
us, and to give us what we need to grow. When someone is abused, the trust is broken. Domestic
violence is the use of physical force within a home in any form of abuse. Abuse can be a whole range
of physical behaviour, slapping, hitting, beating, or using weapons to hurt someone. It includes verbal
and emotional abuse, where someone is constantly insulted and made to feel sad and worthless. It can
also include rape and sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is when someone forces another to have sexual
intercourse or do other sexual things against their will. Another form of abuse is total control where
one adult makes all the decisions for another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Widespread belief that women were intellectually inferior to men led most societies to limit women s
education to learning domestic skills. Well educated, upper class men controlled most positions of
employment and power in society. Traditionally, female family members existed only in terms of their
relationships to men. As daughters, subject to the control and whim of fathers, women represented a
means of economic or political gain through marital arrangements. As wives, they became their
husbands property, and symbols of power and status. Violence against women served to coerce their
acquiescence in this scheme and perpetuate subservience to male relatives. Legally permitted abuse of
women continued to exist in many Western cultures until the late nineteenth century. Early Roman
societies deemed a wife the property of her husband and therefore subject to his control. According to
early Roman law, a man could beat, divorce, or murder his wife for offenses committed by her which
belittled his honour or threatened his property rights. Roman society considered enforcement of such
rights of control essentially a private matter, and thus failed to subject the husband to either public
scrutiny or disapproval. Both the Old and New Testament attest to the belief in early teachings in the
obedience of women. Indeed, Eve s creation from the rib of Adam provided an excuse for

Negative Effects Of Conscription On Canadian Society
Sir Wilfrid Laurier declared I oppose conscription because in it has the seeds of discord and disunion
(Newman, 94). Conscription is compulsory military service. It caused hatred, riots and protests that
divided Canada severely. It was the cause that tore the delicate balance between the French and
English Canadian relationship. The conservative party, who had first introduced conscription, still find
it difficult to receive votes from Quebec, even after
50 years. (CBC, 14) Conscription was not justified as it negatively impacted not just Canadian society,
it created political problems and caused a severe division between Canada s two linguistic groups.

The Wartime Elections Act gave both male and female family members of soldiers the right to vote.
Borden was positive that these specific citizens would vote for him in the election, because these new
voters would support conscription, desperate to give their soldiers reinforcement and relief (Quinlan,
32). Although the act was in
Borden s favor in the upcoming election, his effort to rig it caused much bitterness in the political
parties (Quinlan,
32). This election tore apart Canada. Party meetings were full of heated arguments and disputes. While
the French
Canadians were seen as cowards, and the English were viewed as dictators. The Unionists won 153
seats, but only
3 were from Quebec. Wilfrid Laurier s liberals scored 62 seats out of 82 from Quebec (Quinlan, 32).
Adding to the list of political problems, Borden had initially promised no overseas conscription. When
he retreated from this promise, this made Canadian citizens distrustful of their government. A country
cannot be led strongly when its citizens do not trust their country leaders.
Conscription caused a severe division between Canada s two major linguistic groups, the English and
French Canadians. The French were unwilling to volunteer as they saw it as a British War. Although
France was under attack, they felt little loyalty to their mother country. Many believed that Canada
had already done its part in the war, arguing

Video games in Hollywood
Super Mario Bros, Doom, BloodRayne, and Mortal Kombat. These are all great, classic, or
memorable video games in their own right, but their silver screen counterparts? Not so much. Why
though? Why is it that video games can not translate into the same box office success that has been
experienced by comic books and novels since the early 2000s? I have identified four crucial reasons
why video games will never see the same commercial success as other mediums have: video games
are not respected as an art form, Hollywood does not understand gaming, video games are difficult to
translate from an interactive to non interactive medium, and unqualified directors, who are unfamiliar
with both video games and the source material from which they are adapting from.
Besides a few select directors such a Sam Raimi or Peter Jackson, Hollywood generally views gaming
as a novelty in its infancy and gamers as a select demographic to profit from. Since video games are
viewed less seriously compared to novels or other artistic mediums, they have been treated as such.
By definition, video games cannot be considered art, as they are inherently popular, while art serves to
appeal to a niche audience. Video games as an art form have been debated feverishly in the past
decade, with the general consensus being that video game are not an art form but an extension of
artistic expression or at the very best, art in a non traditional sense. Roger Ebert argued that due to the
nature of video games they

Problem Formulation And Scope Of Supply Chain Systems
1.3 Problem Formulation and Scope
To describe and predict the behaviour of complex reverse supply chain systems, it is often necessary
to use elaborate mathematical modelling. In the same manner, identification of the optimum operating
conditions that will ensure improved supply chain performance usually renders the use of an
optimisation technique essential. For the last decade, a variety of modelling research activities have
been carried out to address the complex reverse supply chain optimisation problems. However, most
of the research has focused mainly on operational and tactical planning problems which may not
provide sufficient insight into the long term design and planning issues of reverse supply chains.
Furthermore, a common limitation of most traditional approaches is the lack of incorporating
quantitative environmental performance modelling. In this context, this study will focus on strategic
reverse supply chain management aiming at determining the setup of economically viable and
environmentally friendly reverse supply chain networks.
1.3.1 Research Questions
The aims of this research have been translated into nine research questions which are presented as
follows:
 Question 1: What are the general characteristics of reverse supply chains from a logistics point of
view?
In order to design reverse supply chains at a strategic level, we have to identify the common features
of the supply chains. To this end, we will investigate reverse supply chain settings

Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay
Fried Pataters
Mr. Hahn
Phil 2310
10 May 2010
Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it
comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning uses
what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim towards
the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons governing the desires
of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend from people caring for one
another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for others, people become morally aware
of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how ought I live my life? ... Show more

Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and
brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including extreme
situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so morbidly wrong
that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should strive for the superhuman
virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly difficult, being virtuous or
continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics is referred to as ethics of caring.
She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being disposition to care. Disposition to
care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give the lucid attention required to
appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The disposition deals with a commitment to
caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that humans are obligated to care for not only the needs
of others, but also what is required for the needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India
after a natural disaster. By sending provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize
that Hindu people do not eat beef. Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping
so that they can send provisions that will do the most good. Manning states that we need to be aware
of the individual needs of certain people in

Which of the proposed solutions do you favour and why?
Of the 3 options provided, I would choose to implement Anderson s key account program for several
reasons: 1. It will help align employee compensation with overall corporate profit objectives. CSC
managers are currently compensated based on their CSCs profit performance. This gives managers the
incentives to employ their own CSC consultants on projects from the region, regardless if there are
better suited ENSR consultants working under different CSCs. Depending on the specific needs of a
prospective client in the manager s region, the CSC may or may not contain the necessary expertise to
win a project. Implementing a key account program will allow the ... Show more content on

Therefore, ENSR might lose out on several clients because the BDOs aren t able to provide clients
with the right knowledge and expertise. 4. In some RFPs, the bid requires the consultant to outline the
scientific approach that they would take in resolving the conflict presented. This is a section of the
RFP that drives cost and time required to complete the RFP. By implementing a key account program,
consultants will be put on projects where they have expertise, and this should allow this process to be
as resource efficient as possible. 5. In the case, it states that it is common for some companies to begin
discussions with consultants well in advance of actually drafting and distributing an RFP. These
discussions helped the company to conceptualize more clearly the nature of the project and the
specific consulting needs. Having a key account team will guarantee that the client is getting the right
type of expertise, and will increase ENSR s chance of including its own insights into the drafting of
the RFP.
What is the ideal client for ENSR?
The ideal Client for ENSR is clients who have strong relationships with ENSR consultants. ENSR
gains from having repeat customers, notably customers willing to partner with ENSR for a sole source
contract. Having strong relationships reduces the amount of expended company resources (consultant
time and money). Consultants will then be able to spend less time prospecting clients and building

Red Louts of Chastity The Prince
In the Red Lotus of chastity, two characters Devasmita and the nun are implementing the same
concept from the Machiavelli s The Prince . They followed the Machiavellian concept of being a lion
and a fox. Devasmita was Guhasena s wife and while her husband was far a way from her they
promised each other to keep red louts in their hand. Whoever commits adultery in the absence of the
other; the lotus will wither away and will be unfaithful. The nun was planning to undo the chastity of
Devasmita while Devasmita was trying hard to protect it. Both Devasmita and the nun acted cleverly
as a fox. However, Devasmita continued acting like super fox until she rescues her husband from
death, while the nun ended up acting like a lion.
The nun acted like a fox to undo the chastity of Devasmita. The nun chose to act like a fox to deceive
Devasmita and make her trust her. She wants to seduce her to bed with the merchant s sons. The
Machiavellian concept of being a fox and lion means to succeed in a battle you have to know who are
you dealing with like a fox and act aggressively like a lion to frighten them. Since, then, it is necessary
for a prince to understand how to make good used of conduct of the animals, he should select among
the fox and the lion, because the lion cannot protect himself from traps and the fox cannot protect him

The Personal Effects Of Plastic Surgery
The Personal Effects of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery dates back to somewhere around 2000 B.C. and has only advanced since that time.
Today people all over the world get these procedures done for many reasons. Some reasoning behind
individuals getting plastic surgery is to fix a birth defect, deformability, or for cosmetic purposes. In
today s society, getting plastic surgery for cosmetics purposes is very popular but with that comes
many negative comments or thoughts towards that person getting these surgeries. Cosmetic surgery
impact not just the person receiving it but everyone that sees those new features or changes. In the
world we now live in I think body image is a big factor in many people s lives. A lot of people do not
always feel comfortable in their own skin because of the different models and actresses or actors seen
on television. I think when we see those different people on television or on the internet, we think that
s how we should be able to look, this can make people have negative thoughts about their own body.
In all reality, most of those people we see on television, magazines and social networks; almost all of
those people have had some sort of plastic surgery to change their appearance. While these people
change themselves they can send thousands of dollars on just one procedure. When someone has had
over ten procedure done to themselves that dollar amount really starts to add up and that s just of the
negative effects of getting plastic surgery.

Enslaved African Americans
Consuming natural remedies to recover from ailments appeared to be a very significant and common
practice amongst enslaved African Americans and Native Americans. In the article Indians, Europeans
and the New World Disease, Calloway thoroughly describes how the native American people were
accustomed to plant life, therefore used nature and wildlife to their advantage to create healing
remedies. African American slaves also used plants to make tea. These means were extremely
excellent precautions for preventing illnesses or for fighting one. Despite all of this the Native
American people still got sick due to the lack of respiratory hygiene. The Europeans brought a number
of germs and diseases with them, that surely turned into great outbreaks. Many Indians contracted
these diseases and died, ironically enough the Indian individuals who acquired the disease have not
yet met a European. The ailment was passed on inland by distant neighbors. Native Americans took

The Events And Encounters I Experienced On My Practicum
Introduction The purpose of the following report is to discuss the events and encounters I experienced
on my practicum. I completed my practicum with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, based out of
Lethbridge, AB. I completed five, eight hour shifts, totaling to 40 hours. I had the opportunity to ride
along with two different peace officers. This allowed me to see two different perspectives and ways of
thinking with regards to the commercial vehicle job. I completed by practicum on the following dates
and times: January 22, (2016) 1400 2200. January 23, 24 (2016) 1000 1800, and February 6, 7 (2016)
0700 1500. For the duration of my practicum we patrolled many different areas and counties. We were
not restricted to a small district and had freedom to move about the Lethbridge district as we saw
necessary.
Communication
I observed many different styles of verbal and non verbal communication throughout my practicum.
On one of the very first traffic stops myself and John Remus, the officer I rode along with, made was
due to a license plate not being visible. I noticed some key aspects of non verbal communication.
Upon approaching the window of a large semi truck we were met with a young man who was clearly
nervous and unaware of the reason for the stop. John stepped up onto the running board of the semi
and introduced himself and his occupation. John then notified the young man of the reason for the stop
and asked for the license and registration for the truck. John s

The Rite Of Spring And The Nutcracker Analysis
Listening to Music class has taught me a new way to listen and enjoy music. I have learned how to
differentiate the melodies, rhythms, and instruments in a song. It has also introduced me to different
genres in the music world, aside from what is usually played on the radio. I can now attend any
concert, listen to any genre, or watch any ballet and easily recognize the many specific aspects the
music being played has. Ballets are very interesting to me. The audience is able to enjoy the music
being played as it is telling a story, and being acted out through the performer s body language. In the
two ballets, The Rite of Spring and The Nutcracker, a great story is told in both referencing the many
great dynamics music has. These two specific ballets are written by different composers, and each one
of them have certain conditions they were written under. As well as different receptions, popularity,
and development. The Rite of Spring and The Nutcracker s differences has made some sort of an
impact in the performing world back then as well as now. To begin, The Rite of Spring was composed
by Igor Stravinsky. Stravinsky was born in 1882 near St. Petersburg, Russia. As a Russian born
composer, his music had a revolutionary impact on musical thought and sensibility just before and
after World War I, and his compositions remained a touchstone of modernism for much of his long
working life (Taruskin; White). According to Wikipedia, he is considered one of the most important

Marketing Strategy For The Chevrolet Tahoe Campaign
O.P.E.N. involves on demand, personal, engaging and networked. Open branding is a brand shifts its
communication platform from traditional to innovative. This novel platform allows customers to share
their thoughts and ideas directly on the marketer s website. With the increase number of new
technologies, customers are no longer interested in traditional market because the traditional market
lacks communication with their customers and this results in lower consumer loyalty for a brand.
Open branding strategy gives the traditional market an opportunity to improve their relationships with
customers. Consumers want to engage more on market today, and they want their voice to be heard, so
many brands shift their strategies to keep their paces in the digital era.
Positive and Negative Aspects of the Chevy Tahoe Campaign Positive aspects. The Chevrolet
Company took a big step forward in its advertising campaign last spring. The company decided to
have a new promotional form which was to run an ad contest that people can post their video clips
about the Chevy Tahoe in its website. The benefit for this approach is to involve people who are really
interested in the company s products in conversation (Rose, 2006). By doing the customer generated
advertising, Chevrolet enhances the relationship with its customers and establishes the customer

Waswani Tribe
British treaty negotiators at the time had a dimmer view of the Parry Islanders considering them a
stubborn lot growing small patches of corn and potatoes for a bon bouche in the autumn . They also
note that they are still living in wigwams and not log cabins as many other tribes had been doing for
centuries. The area in and around Parry Sound became divided into 5 regions whose boundaries often
followed waterways and contained a roughly equatable amount of land and lakes. Blackstone and
Crane Lake along with Whitefish Lake and Lake Joseph, down to the Moon River, were contained in
the region of the Waswani branch of the Parry Island farmer or Wasauksing Anishinabe (Ojibwe). For
winter the Waswani gathered on Maple Lake. As for neighbouring bands, to the immediate north of
Wasauksing is the Shawanaga band, to the south east, the Ojibwe of Lake Simcoe and south the
Ojibwe of Lake Huron. All these bands easily traded between each other. The boundaries between the
families having use of a particular land, say on Blackstone, and neighbouring ones was treated with

Bible School Vacation Paper

The teens walk in collectively, laughing and kidding about the things teens laugh and kid about. The
adults trail closely behind. Some are sharing stories about their day at work, others telling about their

Cloning Individualism
Results May Vary: Adam Phillips s Theory of Cloning and The Paradoxical Apotheosis of
Individualism Adam Phillips s essay Sameness Is All takes the form of a dialogue with two children to
introduce the fantasy of cloning in which everyone is identical. Specifically, Phillips observes that
cloning is a denial of difference and dependence which leads to a refusal of need (92). However,
Phillip remains mindful that such fantasy of physical or psychological sameness is implausible as
everyone is different even clones. One then questions the significance of such wanting of sameness, or
if the sense of sameness serves any purpose. Using the concept of Self and Other that Joanne

Self and Other to delineate the adverse consequences of this symbiotic relationship. By identifying the

The Court and Sir Thomas Wyatt
The Court and Sir Thomas Wyatt
During the 16th Century, English poetry was dominated and institutionalised by the Court. Because it
excited an intensity that indicates a rare concentration of power and cultural dominance, the Court was
primarily responsible for the popularity of the poets who emerged from it. Sir Thomas Wyatt, one of a
multitude of the so called Court poets of this time period, not only changed the way his society saw
poetry through his adaptations of the Petrarchan Sonnet, but also obscurely attempted to recreate the
culture norm through his influence. Though much of his poems are merely translations of Petrarch s,
these, in addition to his other poetry, are satirical by at least a cultural approach. ... Show more content

Complaint poems were often aimed in the sixteenth century at correcting the problem of which the
poem s speaker complains; in some of these poems the complaint merges with satire to urge correction
of man s foolish and vicious behaviour. Wyatt s complaint poems show an attempt to change the laws
of Courtly love and to employ the Renaissance philosophy of old freedoms regained, thereby
classifying them as satirical. In addition to criticising Courtly love, Wyatt mocks the relationship of
Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn in his sonnet Whoso Lists to hunt. In the poem, Wyatt compares the
fantasy of courtly love with hunters chasing after a hind. The hunters symbolise the courtiers while
Anne Boleyn is the hunted hind. The poem contains the bloody imagery that can be associated with a

As organizations utilize software and the internet together to make transactions and complete
accounting functions, the threat of cybercrime comes into play. Cyber crime against private business is
growing, and consuming a larger share of Federal Bureau of Investigation resources than ever before...
(Kelly, M., amp; 42 staff, 2011) Modern organizations that utilize technology must now use their
resources to protect themselves from malicious cybercrime activities. A hacker could illegally intrude
into an organizations information network and use accounting software to mine information and steal

Accounting is the information system that measures business activity, processes the data into reports,

The World War I Led From The Imperialist Age Of The 19th...
World War I led to the deaths of over 70 million people in Europe, and destroyed the already weak
infrastructure left from the imperialist age of the 19th century. During this time of rebuilding,
Germany turned to people they believed would help them rebuild. The people who would rebuild
would also destroy the freedoms of the German people through their aggressive takeover. This
takeover by the German National Socialist Party, dubbed the Nazi Party by Bavarians, was defined for
the brutality and the totalitarian government by which it ruled. So the question is, how did they take
over? How did a party made from the hands of but 5 people manage to conquer all of Germany during
the 1930s? This is due to the harsh stipulations enforced by the post war efforts of the allied powers
and the following collapse of many European countries. Lack of International Cooperation led to the
blaming of the Central Powers of Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire after the first
World War. The only problem with this was that Germany was the only nation intact after the
Armistice Day in 1918. Germany s Imperial government had been overthrown in the German
November Revolution of 1918 and had been set up as the new Weimar Republic. This meant that,
reluctantly, the German Reichstag had to accept blame for all damages created by the war and the
Central Powers. In 1919, after the conclusion of World War I, a formal treaty was signed. This treaty,

A Rhetorical Analysis For Geico
Rhetorical Analysis for GEICO Victor Gatdula EGL 112 Rhetorical Analysis for GEICO The GEICO,

memorable advertisements that GEICO made for their current ad campaign. The main aim of the ad is
convincing the public that moving from their original car insurance company to GEICO will save
them 15% on the insurance and as well as to saturate the airwaves with their funny and catchy
advertisements (Wikipedia, 2014). Despite the fact that the ad is eye catching, it has very many flaws.
Firstly, GEICO does not put any effort to assure the viewers that they will save the 15% or more
money by migrating (Creativity, 2014). Rhetorically, the advertisement just tries to convince the
viewers without providing them with any tangible evidence. The ad begins by a middle aged man and

Evaluation Of Dekalb, Illinois Development Plan
Development plans are and should be a very complex piece of work. There should be a long process to
come up with problems, goals, fixes and implementation strategies. This paper will be a summary and
evaluation of DeKalb, Illinois development plan. It was adopted in March of 2005. There were both
strong aspects to the plan, as well as areas that need much work to it. DeKalb s plan considers multiple
aspects for the development of many aspects of the community. The plan starts with the Desired
Development direction. This was the beginning of their update to list off five broad elements for the
future of the city including sustainability, continuous improvement, character, connectivity and
cohesion. To follow these five elements, many meetings were held, a few large and many small, to get
a view from a wide range of people on what problems the city was facing. Multiple organizations were
in these meetings such as the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and the DeKalb Sanitary District Board.
There were similar ideas thrown out by all groups that related to the character issues which include
identifying DeKalb as a university town and the safety of the city. Influences outside of DeKalb
include the Rochelle rail port and the Elburn Metra Train to help people travel into and out of the city.
The population growth is one issue that the plan has to focus on. Much of the population growth in the
ten years before this plan was due to an increase in diverse culture. Land uses from high

people, and pay. Perks is used to reference the benefits that don t include medical, dental, or 401k;
such as free gym memberships, massages, ski trips, meals and countless other benefits. People is used
to reference the atmosphere an employee has whilst at work. Google believes in a positive community
of employees, and carries out its belief by giving its employee s time and flexibility to focus on their
talent and passion. Pay is self explanatory, imaginably; the pay for Google employees is outstanding.

· Laszlo Bock, Former SVP, People Operations, Google
The recruitment process is lengthy and challenging, it consists of every candidate going through
multiple sets of interviews by their potential boss, colleagues, and hiring committee. The former
Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google, Laszlo Bock, discusses the extensive process in
his book, Work Rules! The book explains the years of research and experimentation that helped
Google hire exceptional people. Bock explains the four principles from his book that Google still uses
to this day. The first principle Google uses is setting high standard; recruiters will be able to determine
if someone is worth even an interview by setting the bar high and not moving it. A good rules of
thumb is to hire only people who are better than you, Bock writes. He explains how you should find
someone who will make your job easier by organizing your time and priorities better than you ever
could. The second principle Google uses is finding candidates on your own. Google occasionally
works with recruitment firms but only in specific situations in which

Put It In Space Analysis
put it in space. When a $280 million mission is looked upon as cheap it is safe to assume that space
exploration is indeed very expensive. The cost of the International Space Station alone has been
estimated to cost about $142 billion (Thompson). Due to high costs, people question why money is
being put toward space exploration when there are large amounts of human suffering on Earth. It
seems as though putting even a small fraction of the money that is used to support space programs and
exploration towards aid to areas and countries that are suffering would solve many problems. For
reasons such as this, many critics feel as if the money would be better spent here on Earth rather than
in the great unknown that is space.

Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District Case Study
In 1969, three young activists walked into school and were told they could not symbolically express
themselves. Without these teens carrying out this simple act of rebellion, students today would lack
basic rights in the school place, as they would have no outlet outside of the home to express their
views. In order to understand Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District one must examine the
history behind the case, analyze the case itself, and evaluate the impacts on modern society.
To examine the history of a case that continues to affect students today, it is important to look at how
the discrepancy began starting with Mary Beth, John, and Christopher. The tumultuous 60s can be
described by Kelly Shackelford, a constitutional attorney, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mary Beth Tinker stepped back from civil rights briefly following the ruling of the case. The article
Tinker v. Des Moines School District mentions that Mary Beth went on to work with the Veterans
Administration after becoming a nurse and enjoyed helping war veterans in any way possible. Later in
life she became an anti war activist and continued to be a civil rights advocate. John Tinker, her
brother, did not refrain from activism but became even more involved as he progressed through
college. John also went on to assist third world countries affected by war or embargos ( Tinker v. Des
Moines School District: ). One final interesting fact was that Dan Johnston, the attorney for John,
Mary Beth, and Christopher, was invited to speak, years after the decision, at Roosevelt High School,
the same school he led the lawsuit against (Shackelford

Stem Cells And Its Effects On Development During The First...
Stem Cells: Embryonic stem cells are bodily cells that are in development during the first stages of
life. These are the cells that will go on to make all of the body tissues of the offspring, like neurons,
blood and skin cells. (Farrell et al.). With these human cells scientists can repair damaged tissue of
diseased patients as well as study the diseases they have. Only recently have stem cells been available
to collect and study. Currently, there are only a few methods of collection, such as retrieving them
from in vitro fertilization: Aborted fetuses. However, these methods do not supply a constant source of
the stem cells, and currently there are too few cultures of cells in labs to attempt any real medical
advancement with. So, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiments show that stem cells could be the answer to solving many medical problems that humans
suffer from. Stem cells injected into damaged tissue repaired the cells there by dividing until all of the
old cells were replaced. However, 20% of test animals injected with stem cells developed untreatable
brain tumors (Clouthier). Stem cells can divide endlessly and each time one divides, the daughter cells
have a chance of being another stem cell, or a specialized cell for a specific function. Stem cells are
unspecialized, meaning they have no specific purpose other than to repair damaged cells by replacing
them. Adult stem cells are released in adults when tissue needs to be replaced, but stem cells from the
blastocyst, the five day old group of cells of an unrecognizable fetus, are where researchers are
interested most. In 1953, the precursor of what scientists know as stem cells was found by Leroy
Stevens, who was studying cancer with mice. In their tumors he found a mix of specialized and
unspecialized cells. In 1981, Martin Evans and Gail Martin derived stem cells from the embryos of
mice. This was the first time ever in history that any form of stem cell was isolated. Then in 1986,
researchers found that they could revert connective tissue collected from mice back into mytoblasts,

Pm3110 Unit 6 Lab Report
This chapter discusses the procedure followed and the assumptions made while setting up the design
point and part load simulation. The NPSS solver uses a set of independent and dependent variables
that is declared by the elements and the user. The independents are varied with each solver iteration
until the dependent variables satisfy their specified condition [22].
The heat rise element, i.e. nuclear reactor is modeled in such a way that the temperature of helium
exiting the reactor and entering the helium turbine is maintained at 1173 K (900 0C). During part load
operation of the Brayton cycle, the mass flow rate is reduced. By reducing the reactor power output,
the temperature of helium can be maintained at the design point value. Load following ... Show more

In order to maintain synchronous speeds with the gas turbine while still reducing or increasing power
output, the engine must be properly controlled [27]. The control of the engine depends on where in the
part load curve the engine is operating [27].
The reduction in mass flow rate causes the compressor pressure ratio and efficiency to drop [27]. As
the mass flow rate is reduced, the turbine exhaust gas temperature increases to maintain energy
balance [27]. The mass flow rate of helium can be decreased to a limit until either material restrictions
at the turbine exit or heat exchanger inlet prohibit the higher temperatures [27] or the efficiency of the
turbomachinery falls below an acceptable level.
There is a coupling effect between the two systems when the Brayton cycle is operated at part load.
The coupling occurs due to two constraints; helium must be cooled to its design point temperature
after passing through the heat exchanger and the temperature of steam entering the turbine must be
maintained at its design point temperature. The solver calculates the new mass flow rate of water
required to cool the helium. The change in mass flow rate of steam due to the reduction of Brayton
cycle mass flow rate causes a change in the Rankine cycle power output.

Because of higher competitors (John Lewis, Sainsbury, Debenhams, Next, etc.) customers have
various choices of shopping that increase their bargaining power in the substitute market. However, M
S is doing very well to build up trust and customer relationship through different activities. For
examples, the Big Beach Clean up program has engaged about 5000 customers in 2013 and Swopping
scheme collected a total 3.8 million clothes from customers that raised the £2.3m for Oxfam
(MarksandSpencer, 2013). However, the loyalty scheme and involving customers in Plan A project, M
S slowly get back their position.
4.2 Findings
M S is a leading retailer and improving the store layout across the UK (PLC, 2013). The SWOT
Analysis in Appendix IV identified different issues recently facing by M S, but only the major issues
are highlighted in this report.
a) Sales decrease in Women s clothing and General Merchandise
M S market share in women s wear down from 10.4% to 9.9% in 2013, which is the main source of
revenue. Conversely, the brand position is declined in last 2 years because the customers were moved
in variety of inexpensive, high fashionable substitutes (BrookIntellignceCentre, 2013). CEO Marc
Bolland says they delivered higher performance in general merchandise, but the unfavourable weather
condition hit the sales figure unexpectedly (BBC, 2014; Ruddick, 2014). Mr

They relied on their wits and muscles to acquire what nature provided (page 103). Food forager avoids food production simply because of the hard work it involves. They tend to have more time for play and relaxation than food producers (page 107). On the other hand city dweller/food producer/gardener works longer hours compared to most food foragers. Ethics Of Volkswagen Case Study With billions of dollars invested and hundreds of thousands of Americans employed (Department of Commerce, n.d.), the automobile industry has a vast influence in the United States. Since the time Henry Ford developed the assembly line production (Statista, n.d.) the industry has grown into a global market with no signs of slowing down. Top car companies are constantly searching for new innovations to set them apart from their competitors. Among those companies is Volkswagen (VW). Lastly, VW seemed to be obsessed with surpassing Toyota and becoming the world s biggest car company (A Mucky Scandal, 2015), apparently determined to do whatever it took to accomplish that. The Impact on VW It is not hard to see that the scandal would cause a horrid blow to VW s image. Until the incident, VW had, like many other German companies, the reputation of German engineering (Robertson, 2013). However, instead of using that innovation to develop diesel fueled cars compliant with U.S. standards, it decided to try to scam its way in the market. Not only did the company admit to having 11 million cars with software intended to cheat tests (Gates, Ewing, Russell Watkins, 2017), it also plead guilty to destroying evidence in an elaborate cover up (VW Admits Emissions Cheating and Cover up, 2017); building further distrust among its consumers. Brand Equity One thing that can make or break a company is its brand equity. Brand equity is the value that comes with the familiarity with a company s branding and the feelings consumers have towards that brand (Brand Equity, n.d.). The Cult of Mithras began in the first century and it was invented by the Roman Empire. When we think about the first century AD, Christianity is almost very invisible during this time. The cult of Mithras development is mysterious. This religion is invented by the Italians. Mithras provides members with sense of salvation if they proceed through the seven stages of initiation, because the important aspect of the cult is that they must be successful, and have spiritual bonding with their gods. If they do not success, they will face some consequences, but members who follow this path will be rewarded and be offered compensation. The Music Of The Song A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as to describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back in 1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long enough to surprise them with a powerful message. The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but significant change in the chords during the song. She believed that non violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing, Simone concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings, she wrote her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly explains the raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992). Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the song premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t belong there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she sings, oh, but this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. Widespread belief that women were intellectually inferior to men led most societies to limit women s education to learning domestic skills. Well educated, upper class men controlled most positions of employment and power in society. Traditionally, female family members existed only in terms of their relationships to men. As daughters, subject to the control and whim of fathers, women represented a means of economic or political gain through marital arrangements. As wives, they became their husbands property, and symbols of power and status. Violence against women served to coerce their acquiescence in this scheme and perpetuate subservience to male relatives. Legally permitted abuse of women continued to exist in many Western cultures until the late nineteenth century. Early Roman societies deemed a wife the property of her husband and therefore subject to his control. According to early Roman law, a man could beat, divorce, or murder his wife for offenses committed by her which belittled his honour or threatened his property rights. Roman society considered enforcement of such rights of control essentially a private matter, and thus failed to subject the husband to either public scrutiny or disapproval. The conservative party, who had first introduced conscription, still find it difficult to receive votes from Quebec, even after 50 years. The Wartime Elections Act gave both male and female family members of soldiers the right to vote. Borden was positive that these specific citizens would vote for him in the election, because these new voters would support conscription, desperate to give their soldiers reinforcement and relief (Quinlan, 32). Although the act was in Borden s favor in the upcoming election, his effort to rig it caused much bitterness in the political parties (Quinlan, 32). This election tore apart Canada. Party meetings were full of heated arguments and disputes. While the French Canadians were seen as cowards, and the English were viewed as dictators. The Unionists won 153 seats, but only 3 were from Quebec. Wilfrid Laurier s liberals scored 62 seats out of 82 from Quebec (Quinlan, 32). Adding to the list of political problems, Borden had initially promised no overseas conscription. When he retreated from this promise, this made Canadian citizens distrustful of their government. A country cannot be led strongly when its citizens do not trust their country leaders. Conscription caused a severe division between Canada s two major linguistic groups, the English and French Canadians. The French were unwilling to volunteer as they saw it as a British War. These are all great, classic, or memorable video games in their own right, but their silver screen counterparts? Not so much. Why though? Why is it that video games can not translate into the same box office success that has been experienced by comic books and novels since the early 2000s? I have identified four crucial reasons why video games will never see the same commercial success as other mediums have: video games are not respected as an art form, Hollywood does not understand gaming, video games are difficult to translate from an interactive to non interactive medium, and unqualified directors, who are unfamiliar with both video games and the source material from which they are adapting from. Besides a few select directors such a Sam Raimi or Peter Jackson, Hollywood generally views gaming as a novelty in its infancy and gamers as a select demographic to profit from. Since video games are viewed less seriously compared to novels or other artistic mediums, they have been treated as such. By definition, video games cannot be considered art, as they are inherently popular, while art serves to appeal to a niche audience. Video games as an art form have been debated feverishly in the past decade, with the general consensus being that video game are not an art form but an extension of artistic expression or at the very best, art in a non traditional sense. • 21. Problem Formulation And Scope Of Supply Chain Systems 1.3 Problem Formulation and Scope To describe and predict the behaviour of complex reverse supply chain systems, it is often necessary to use elaborate mathematical modelling. In the same manner, identification of the optimum operating conditions that will ensure improved supply chain performance usually renders the use of an optimisation technique essential. For the last decade, a variety of modelling research activities have been carried out to address the complex reverse supply chain optimisation problems. However, most of the research has focused mainly on operational and tactical planning problems which may not provide sufficient insight into the long term design and planning issues of reverse supply chains. • 23. Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay Fried Pataters Mr. Hahn Phil 2310 10 May 2010 Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning uses what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim towards the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons governing the desires of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend from people caring for one another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for others, people become morally aware of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how ought I live my life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including extreme situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so morbidly wrong that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should strive for the superhuman virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly difficult, being virtuous or continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics is referred to as ethics of caring. She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being disposition to care. Disposition to care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give the lucid attention required to appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The disposition deals with a commitment to caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that humans are obligated to care for not only the needs of others, but also what is required for the needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India after a natural disaster. By sending provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize that Hindu people do not eat beef. Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping so that they can send provisions that will do the most good. By implementing a key account program, consultants will be put on projects where they have expertise, and this should allow this process to be as resource efficient as possible. 5. They followed the Machiavellian concept of being a lion and a fox. Devasmita was Guhasena s wife and while her husband was far a way from her they promised each other to keep red louts in their hand. Whoever commits adultery in the absence of the other; the lotus will wither away and will be unfaithful. The nun was planning to undo the chastity of Devasmita while Devasmita was trying hard to protect it. Both Devasmita and the nun acted cleverly as a fox. However, Devasmita continued acting like super fox until she rescues her husband from death, while the nun ended up acting like a lion. The nun acted like a fox to undo the chastity of Devasmita. The nun chose to act like a fox to deceive Devasmita and make her trust her. She wants to seduce her to bed with the merchant s sons. The Machiavellian concept of being a fox and lion means to succeed in a battle you have to know who are you dealing with like a fox and act aggressively like a lion to frighten them. Communication I observed many different styles of verbal and non verbal communication throughout my practicum. On one of the very first traffic stops myself and John Remus, the officer I rode along with, made was due to a license plate not being visible. I noticed some key aspects of non verbal communication. Upon approaching the window of a large semi truck we were met with a young man who was clearly nervous and unaware of the reason for the stop. The audience is able to enjoy the music being played as it is telling a story, and being acted out through the performer s body language. Because it excited an intensity that indicates a rare concentration of power and cultural dominance, the Court was primarily responsible for the popularity of the poets who emerged from it. Sir Thomas Wyatt, one of a multitude of the so called Court poets of this time period, not only changed the way his society saw poetry through his adaptations of the Petrarchan Sonnet, but also obscurely attempted to recreate the culture norm through his influence. World War I led to the deaths of over 70 million people in Europe, and destroyed the already weak infrastructure left from the imperialist age of the 19th century. During this time of rebuilding, Germany turned to people they believed would help them rebuild. The people who would rebuild would also destroy the freedoms of the German people through their aggressive takeover. This takeover by the German National Socialist Party, dubbed the Nazi Party by Bavarians, was defined for the brutality and the totalitarian government by which it ruled. So the question is, how did they take over? How did a party made from the hands of but 5 people manage to conquer all of Germany during the 1930s? This is due to the harsh stipulations enforced by the post war efforts of the allied powers and the following collapse of many European countries. Lack of International Cooperation led to the blaming of the Central Powers of Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire after the first World War. The only problem with this was that Germany was the only nation intact after the Armistice Day in 1918. • 43. What Is Google s Employees Process For the past 6 years, Google has obtained a top spot on Fortune s Best Companies to Work For list but what makes it so different from any other job? For a quick break down, it comes down to perks, people, and pay. Perks is used to reference the benefits that don t include medical, dental, or 401k; such as free gym memberships, massages, ski trips, meals and countless other benefits. People is used to reference the atmosphere an employee has whilst at work. Google believes in a positive community of employees, and carries out its belief by giving its employee s time and flexibility to focus on their talent and passion. Pay is self explanatory, imaginably; the pay for Google employees is outstanding. A first year employee with no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along the way, we learned some startling stuff. We re still working on it, as you ll see, but I feel pretty confident we re headed in the right direction. And with any luck I can save you some of the headaches and missteps we had along the way. · Laszlo Bock, Former SVP, People Operations, Google The recruitment process is lengthy and challenging, it consists of every candidate going through multiple sets of interviews by their potential boss, colleagues, and hiring committee. The former Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google, Laszlo Bock, discusses the extensive process in his book, Work Rules! The book explains the years of research and experimentation that helped Google hire exceptional people. Bock explains the four principles from his book that Google still uses to this day. The first principle Google uses is setting high standard; recruiters will be able to determine if someone is worth even an interview by setting the bar high and not moving it. A good rules of thumb is to hire only people who are better than you, Bock writes. He explains how you should find someone who will make your job easier by organizing your time and priorities better than you ever could. The second principle Google uses is finding candidates on your own. Google occasionally works with recruitment firms but only in specific situations in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Put It In Space Analysis put it in space. When a $280 million mission is looked upon as cheap it is safe to assume that space exploration is indeed very expensive. The cost of the International Space Station alone has been estimated to cost about $142 billion (Thompson). Due to high costs, people question why money is being put toward space exploration when there are large amounts of human suffering on Earth. It seems as though putting even a small fraction of the money that is used to support space programs and exploration towards aid to areas and countries that are suffering would solve many problems. For reasons such as this, many critics feel as if the money would be better spent here on Earth rather than in the great unknown that is space. Could all of the high ... • 45. Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District Case Study In 1969, three young activists walked into school and were told they could not symbolically express themselves. Without these teens carrying out this simple act of rebellion, students today would lack basic rights in the school place, as they would have no outlet outside of the home to express their views. In order to understand Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District one must examine the history behind the case, analyze the case itself, and evaluate the impacts on modern society. To examine the history of a case that continues to affect students today, it is important to look at how the discrepancy began starting with Mary Beth, John, and Christopher. The tumultuous 60s can be described by Kelly Shackelford, a constitutional attorney, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary Beth Tinker stepped back from civil rights briefly following the ruling of the case. The article Tinker v. Des Moines School District mentions that Mary Beth went on to work with the Veterans Administration after becoming a nurse and enjoyed helping war veterans in any way possible. Later in life she became an anti war activist and continued to be a civil rights advocate. John Tinker, her brother, did not refrain from activism but became even more involved as he progressed through college. John also went on to assist third world countries affected by war or embargos ( Tinker v. Des Moines School District: ). One final interesting fact was that Dan Johnston, the attorney for John, Mary Beth, and Christopher, was invited to speak, years after the decision, at Roosevelt High School, the same school he led the lawsuit against (Shackelford ... • 46. Stem Cells And Its Effects On Development During The First... Stem Cells: Embryonic stem cells are bodily cells that are in development during the first stages of life. These are the cells that will go on to make all of the body tissues of the offspring, like neurons, blood and skin cells. (Farrell et al.). With these human cells scientists can repair damaged tissue of diseased patients as well as study the diseases they have. Only recently have stem cells been available to collect and study. Currently, there are only a few methods of collection, such as retrieving them from in vitro fertilization: Aborted fetuses. However, these methods do not supply a constant source of the stem cells, and currently there are too few cultures of cells in labs to attempt any real medical advancement with. So, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Experiments show that stem cells could be the answer to solving many medical problems that humans suffer from. Stem cells injected into damaged tissue repaired the cells there by dividing until all of the old cells were replaced. However, 20% of test animals injected with stem cells developed untreatable brain tumors (Clouthier). Stem cells can divide endlessly and each time one divides, the daughter cells have a chance of being another stem cell, or a specialized cell for a specific function. Stem cells are unspecialized, meaning they have no specific purpose other than to repair damaged cells by replacing them. Adult stem cells are released in adults when tissue needs to be replaced, but stem cells from the blastocyst, the five day old group of cells of an unrecognizable fetus, are where researchers are interested most. In 1953, the precursor of what scientists know as stem cells was found by Leroy Stevens, who was studying cancer with mice. In their tumors he found a mix of specialized and unspecialized cells. In 1981, Martin Evans and Gail Martin derived stem cells from the embryos of mice. This was the first time ever in history that any form of stem cell was isolated. Then in 1986, researchers found that they could revert connective tissue collected from mice back into mytoblasts, what generates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Pm3110 Unit 6 Lab Report This chapter discusses the procedure followed and the assumptions made while setting up the design point and part load simulation. The NPSS solver uses a set of independent and dependent variables that is declared by the elements and the user. The independents are varied with each solver iteration until the dependent variables satisfy their specified condition [22]. The heat rise element, i.e. nuclear reactor is modeled in such a way that the temperature of helium exiting the reactor and entering the helium turbine is maintained at 1173 K (900 0C). During part load operation of the Brayton cycle, the mass flow rate is reduced. By reducing the reactor power output, the temperature of helium can be maintained at the design point value. Load following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to maintain synchronous speeds with the gas turbine while still reducing or increasing power output, the engine must be properly controlled [27]. The control of the engine depends on where in the part load curve the engine is operating [27]. The reduction in mass flow rate causes the compressor pressure ratio and efficiency to drop [27]. As the mass flow rate is reduced, the turbine exhaust gas temperature increases to maintain energy balance [27]. The mass flow rate of helium can be decreased to a limit until either material restrictions at the turbine exit or heat exchanger inlet prohibit the higher temperatures [27] or the efficiency of the turbomachinery falls below an acceptable level. There is a coupling effect between the two systems when the Brayton cycle is operated at part load. The coupling occurs due to two constraints; helium must be cooled to its design point temperature after passing through the heat exchanger and the temperature of steam entering the turbine must be maintained at its design point temperature. The solver calculates the new mass flow rate of water required to cool the helium. The change in mass flow rate of steam due to the reduction of Brayton cycle mass flow rate causes a change in the Rankine cycle power output. 4.3 Rankine Part Load ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of higher competitors (John Lewis, Sainsbury, Debenhams, Next, etc.) customers have various choices of shopping that increase their bargaining power in the substitute market. However, M S is doing very well to build up trust and customer relationship through different activities. For examples, the Big Beach Clean up program has engaged about 5000 customers in 2013 and Swopping scheme collected a total 3.8 million clothes from customers that raised the £2.3m for Oxfam (MarksandSpencer, 2013). However, the loyalty scheme and involving customers in Plan A project, M S slowly get back their position. 4.2 Findings M S is a leading retailer and improving the store layout across the UK (PLC, 2013). The SWOT Analysis in Appendix IV identified different issues recently facing by M S, but only the major issues are highlighted in this report. a) Sales decrease in Women s clothing and General Merchandise M S market share in women s wear down from 10.4% to 9.9% in 2013, which is the main source of revenue. Conversely, the brand position is declined in last 2 years because the customers were moved in variety of inexpensive, high fashionable substitutes (BrookIntellignceCentre, 2013). CEO Marc Bolland says they delivered higher performance in general merchandise, but the unfavourable weather condition hit the sales figure unexpectedly (BBC, 2014; Ruddick, 2014). Mr ...
