violence victims that we tend to overlook. These are the children of the women and men who are
in domestic violence situations. Children are the invisible victims when it comes to domestic
violence. There are many statistics being thrown around when it comes to the number of children
who are exposed to domestic violence; they range from as little as 200,000 to even 3 18 million
(Sousa et. al., 2011). A 2001 study discovered that in 75% of the cases in their study, children were

limited studies focused on the effects of exposure to domestic violence on children. This paper will
review various literatures that identify the effects of domestic violence exposure on children. There
were many trends in the literatures that were studied but there were two common trends worth

literatures mention that previous studies mainly gathered information from women and children

The Knapp Commission, established in 1970 by New York City Mayer John V. Lindsey
(Dempsey Forst, 2016). The Commission was set up by a committee of five members, to
investigate allegations of police corruption in New York City( Dempsey Forst,2016). After
