The Veldt By Ray Bradbury. How Are Children Better Than...
Today, some children have had a tendency to favor materialistic items over respect for parents;
however, Ray Bradbury, the author of The Veldt disagrees with this concept. Bradbury believes that
when children are too involved in items, they become brainwashed and it has a negative effect on
society. Mr. and Mrs. Hadley (the parents) from The Veldt , struggle to discipline their kids, which
results in the children not having a priority to respect them. Through using allusions, setting, and
technology, the author warn children that materialistic items should not be valued higher than respect
for their parents.
Ray Bradbury uses technology to show that the children rely more on the technology and materialistic
items, then they do of their parents. The nursery in The Veldt possesses things that purr and recede
into crystalline distance and ...this house which clothed and fed and rocked them to sleep and played
and sang and was good to them. (Bradbury 1). Through the description of the nursery, it provides the
reader with a sense of the nursery being high tech, expensive and more dependable than the parents
should be. This shows that the Hadley family does not lack money so whatever they need, it is always
right there. Bradbury also states, Peter looked at his shoes. He never looked at his father any more, nor
his mother and Would I have to tie my own shoes instead of letting the shoe tier do it? (Bradbury 9).
In these quotes, it shows that by now the children have

Type 2 Diabetes And Psychotic Depression Essay
Type 2 Diabetes and Psychotic Depression
Type 2 diabetes and psychotic depression interrelate in different ways. First, substances of abuse such
as cannabis, alcohol and tobacco have the potential to interfere with or change the pharmacokinetics
of the oral hypoglycemic agents used in treating diabetes in addition. In addition, the use and presence
of a comorbid psychiatric disorder like depression interfere with the management of diabetes. The
interference occurs by negative influence on patients adherence to treatment adherence. There are also
disorders such as phobia of needles and injections in psychotic patients, which can make it difficult to
diagnose and treat diabetes through blood glucose testing and insulin injection. Such phobias interfere
with the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Finally, patients with psychotic depression are less likely to go
for psychiatric test and treatment, thus delaying the diagnosis or detection of co occurring diabetes.
Risk Assessment in Mental Health
Mental health services can manage risk and safety more effectively by involving service users in
planning for safety. However, conventional clinical techniques of risk assessment are obstacles to
creating normal and risk free physical life for admitted and recovering mental health patients. It is
recommended that mental service givers and patients should work jointly to develop and implement
effective risk management plans for mentally ill people to proceed with their normal lives.

Essay about Mittell’s Television Genre Theory and Louie
Originally published in Cinema Journal 40, No. 3, Spring 2001, Jason Mittell s A Cultural Approach to
Television Genre Theory conceives of television genre as a cultural category rather than merely a
textual component. In the decade since the original publishing of the article, television has evolved out
of the multi channel era and into the post network era. In this new television landscape, genres are no
longer a fixed entity1, and there is great academic potential in the in the study of television genres.
The text, Thinking Outside the Box: A Contemporary Television Genre Reader, aims to explore and

Finally, this concept of genre will be applied to the development of the central questions in my final
project.
LOUIE: A GENERIC DISCOURSE
Mittell suggests that genre studies should negotiate between specificity and generality, and offers the
following as an approach: The second way would be to start with a specific media case study and
analyze how genre processes operate within this specific instance. Such projects might isolate a
variety of starting points an industrial formation, audience practices, a textual instance, a policy
decision, or a moment in social history. We may start with a textual case to motivate our study, but we
must still examine how genres transcend textual boundaries and operate within audience and industry
practices as well.3 Also, according to the article, we should focus on the breadth of discursive
enunciations around any given instance, mapping out as many articulations of genre as possible and
situating them within larger cultural contexts and relations of power.4 So, any generic discourse must
begin with a full understanding of the context of a particular text in this case, Louie.

Essay On Prostate Cancer
Elder Care Services and Prostate Cancer
The Centers for Disease Control says that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American
men (other than skin cancer). Each year a man ages, his chances of developing prostate cancer
increases. The good news is that prostate cancer does not typically lead to further health problems and
spreads slowly. In fact, many doctors are now recommending, especially in seniors, that the cancer is
monitored (an action known as active surveillance) and not treated unless absolutely necessary, since
the side effects of surgery or other treatment options are often far worse than the prostate cancer itself.
The prostate is part of the male reproductive system. This walnut sized gland is located just under ...

Sometimes and enlarged prostate is not caused by cancer but by a medical problem called benign
prostatic hyperplasia (enlarging of the prostate).
There is currently no one set of traits or behaviors that are linked to prostate cancer. The CDC notes,
however, that if a man has a father, brother, or son who has had prostate cancer [he] is two to three
times more likely to develop the disease himself.
A man may suspect he has prostate cancer if he starts to have difficulty urinating and/or cannot fully
empty the bladder, experiences frequent nighttime urination, has a burning sensation while urinating
or sees blood in the urine, experiences pain the back of the pelvis, or experiences painful ejaculation.
These symptoms do not necessarily mean that prostate cancer is present, but a medical check up is
certainly warranted, especially if more than one of the symptoms is experienced.
The doctor can check for an enlarged prostate through a manual examination of the gland. They will
also draw blood to check for abnormal levels of prostate specific antigen, or PSA. If the levels are too
high, a biopsy of the prostate may be

Fire and Heat Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Essay
Fire and Heat Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
The essence of any true magnificent piece of literature is not what one can see in words. It is what one
can see behind the words. It is through the symbolism and imagery found in works of literature that a
reader can truly connect with the writer. Charlotte Bronte epitomizes the spirit of the unread but
understood in her Victorian work Jane Eyre. There have been numerous essays and theories presented
examining the complex symbolism and imagery used by Bronte in Jane Eyre. Much of the imagery
she uses concentrates on passion, fantasy, and the supernatural. In this essay I will examine Bronte s
use of fire and heat imagery pertaining to Mr. Rochester and Jane s love relationship. ... Show more

When Jane informed Mr. Rochester that she must leave him for the sake of both their souls, his
reaction was almost devil like, his voice and hand quivered: his large nostrils dilated; his eyes blazed.
These images of dilating nostrils and blazing eyes are typical of a devil like figure. Rochester, the
devil, attempts to convince Jane, the weak human, of going against God and sinning their soul to hell.
To further convince Jane of staying with him, Rochester tells her than he ll put Adele in a boarding
school and get rid of Thornfield. He calls Thornfield this accursed place This tent of Achan. In Joshua
vii Achan took of the accursed thing , i.e., he took spoils of war from the conquered city of Jericho,
and concealed them in his tent. He and his family were ritually stoned to death at the Lord s command
as a result. Rochester s situation parallels that of Achan. He, like Achan, wants to claim what is not
his. He wants to lay hold on something that he has no right too essentially Jane Eyre. Also, it is
interesting that he refers to Thornfield as an accursed place. This symbolizes a foreshadowing of the
destruction of Thornfield later on in the novel.
Despite all this, Jane, as all humans, falls weak to matters of the heart. Fortunately, whenever her
resolve quivers, Bronte uses imagery of cleansing fire to strengthened her. For example, when Jane
was leaving for bed after Rochester

Another characteristic that differentiate between business to business market demand and business to
consumer is that business to business products tend to have inelastic demand (Hutt amp; Speh, 2010).
This principle shows that business to business product has demand characteristics with no correlation
with price. BD had increased the price of its evacuated blood collection tube between 1979 to 1985
from 6 cents per unit to 8 cents per unit, where as its competitor, Terumo, a Japanese firm has kept its
price at 6.5 cents per unit. However, BD has not lost its market share, which was kept at roughly 80
per cent while Terumo had increased its market share from 10 per cent to 20 per cent (Cespedes amp;
Rangan, 1993). This change in market share for Terumo, can be explained by other means rather than
arguing that Terumo, by keeping its price, absorbing any cost increases and inflation, has created an
elastic demand like in business to consumer. This argument is highlighted in the fact that in the market
for blood collection needles in the same period, even though both BD and Terumo had kept its per unit
price at 7.5 cents, BD market share has dropped from 40 per cent to 30 BD while Terumo doubled its
market share from 25 per cent to 50 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993).
Finally, a global market perspective must be taken by a marketer in business to business marketing.

The Water Crisis In Flint
The water crisis in Flint, Michigan shocked and outraged many Americans. It was true, a simple water
source change from one source to another in the city of Flint turned into a State of Emergency as

The Plate Tectonics Of New Zealand
Study of the plate tectonics of New Zealand has been undertaken since the early 1800s, however the
most notable discovery regarding the plate tectonic setting was made in the 1940s by Harold Wellman,
who discovered the Alpine Fault. Since then, our knowledge of the plate tectonic setting of New
Zealand has been vastly expanded, leading to our present day understanding of the topic. A large part
of our present day knowledge of the plate tectonic setting has been gained through the study of active
faulting the visible and measurable signs of fault line activity and their ruptures. Our current
understanding is that the country sits on the boundary of the Australian and the Pacific plate. The
nature of this boundary changes depending on the area of the country studied, from strike slip to
convergent. Evidence from active faulting can be used to prove the nature of this boundary on land by
studying both the North and South Island Fault Systems. South Island Fault System The Alpine Fault
is a clear starting point for analysis of the plate tectonic setting of NZ. It is the most visually obvious
sign of tectonic activity in NZ as it is responsible for the creation of the Southern Alps, a 500
kilometre long chain of mountains which stretch from the Nelson Lakes to Milford. These mountains
sit to the eastern side of the fault as they are created by the Australian plate acting as a rigid indentor,
buckling the weaker crust of the Pacific plate (Sutherland et al., 2000, 2009 as cited

wrongness of the actions, thus the duty of these actions is taken in the consideration. The duty of
caring for the child from the beginning of it s life until maturity, and the duty to see that the life of a
fetus ends in itself and not by us, is the focus of Deontologists argument against abortion.
We as humans are born with an instinct to continue our human race, in other words to care for our
young so they can pass on the gift of life. It is written in the Ethics in Practice that ... and we have a
duty to care (pg. 152), that duty carries on for our offspring. It is no surprise that we see even in the
animal kingdom where parents sacrifice their lives for their offspring. Also, Hugh LaFollette writes,
We owe things to those with whom we have special relationships such as our friends, colleagues, and
family members... (pg 152) we owe the protection and love so we can continue our human race . One

A Cultural Review of Germany in the 1940 s according to
The Diary of Anne Frank It has been said, to understand the present a person must know and

Anne Frank allows the reader to do. There are many different cultures around the world and many
cultures within cultures. Looking specifically at Germany in the time period of the 1940 s, the reader
can see that there in fact is a culture within in a culture. The great thing about this piece of literature is
that it is the actual person in the culture writing what is going on during that time frame. The Diary of

Others were shot at the whim of the Nazis guards. Those Jews that worked had their lives spared but
were fed only enough to keep them alive. No one knows for sure how many children were killed but it
is estimated at between 1.2 and 1.5 million. The children that survived did so because they were
hidden in homes, basements and convents or lived with Christian families who concealed their
identities. By the end of the war six million Jews had been killed in one way or another inside and
outside concentration camps across Europe. Never in human history had so many been killed because
of who they were.
Jews not immediately selected for extermination faced a living death in the concentration camp, which

A Central Of Venous Catheter
A central venous catheter is known as a central line or a CVC. A CVC is a thin flexible catheter that is
inserted into a large vein near the heart in either the arm or the chest. (Web MD, 2016) This central
line is used to provide medication, fluids, nutrients, or blood products over a long period of time. This
is generally used for patients who have chemotherapy, frequent blood draws, need additional
nutritional support, or have kidney failure. (ATS, 2015) There are several considerations to keep in
mind when a CVC is being administered such as understanding why a CVC is being placed, safety
guidelines, teaching considerations, and ways to care for the CVC.
Reasons for needing a CVC
There are several reasons why a CVC may be placed depending on each patient s condition. It is
important for each patient to understand the reason for having a central line inserted; some reasons
may include: I.V. medications for a long period of time, large amounts of fluid, several blood draws,
additional nutrition, or kidney failure. When administering medication over a long period of time it
can be irritating to the vein so a central line is placed so that it is easily tolerated; especially for
chemotherapy medications. When administering fluids through a larger vein it is less irritating to the
vein and it is easier to manage fluid intake. Patients can often have several blood draws daily in order
to run tests to make sure that the treatment and body function is maintaining; so it is ideal

Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Military Draft
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln was forced to begin drafting. Many people complained that it was
unconstitutional. This was the first mandatory military recruitment in U.S history. There has been two
more drafts since Lincoln had the first one in 1863. The argument most people have about drafting is,
if it is right? There are many pros and cons of having a draft, how the military would go about drafting
people, and how it will affect the families of those who are drafted. The first ever draft was held in the
Civil War. The South was the first to hold a draft in 1862. The men were required three years of
service and had to be between the ages of 18 and 35. Later on in the war, the age limit was raised
between the ages of 17 to 50. In many states such as Missouri and Iowa, the threat of drafting was
used to help speed up volunteering. However, in 1862 the Militia Act gave authority to the ... Show

It may also make us more apposing. Most countries would not want to go to war with an army of 300

Conscription, Recruiting and the Draft). It would give the military access to all the youth between the
ages of 20 and 25. Instead of having kids out of high school, who do not do anything and do not plan
on going to college, they can join the military for a few years and can help the U.S out. It will make
our military more youthful. More than a third of the new military recruitments fail to complete their

Summary Of Magical Realism In A Very Old Man With Enormous...
The phrase magical realism in the context of literature was first coined by the Cuban novelist Alejo
Carpentier to describe the combination of the fantastic and everyday occurrences in Latin American
fiction. Over time, the term has been vastly modified by writers from a plethora of backgrounds.
Nevertheless, magical realism still refers to the tendency to mix the magical and terrestrial in a context
of realistic narration, as seen in the works of Gabriel García Márquez. Born in Columbia, Gabriel
García Márquez introduces readers to magical realism through one of his short stories A Very Old
Man with Enormous Wings by combining earthly and fantastic elements to create an image of an
ordinary society with mythical creatures. In his work, Gabriel García Márquez effectively illustrates
the coexistence of cruelty and morality in society through the strategic utilization of magical realism.
Traditionally, many myths and legends portray angels as elegant, beautiful creatures, but in Márquez s
short story the angel is portrayed as a disease infected ragpicker (Márquez 1). The story begins when
Pelayo and Elisenda, Márquez s main characters, discover an old man lying in their courtyard. They
are unsure of his origins, but know that he has enormous wings and speak in an incomprehensible
dialect (Márquez 1). Despite these uncertainties, they decide to house the questionable man in their
chicken coop and utilize him to their own interests when they discover that he is

Stratospheric Ozone Depletion and Its Effect on Skin...
Introduction
This term paper is situated in an area of specific health related and environmental concern: the human
dimensions of global change. For about a decade now there has been growing scientific interest in the
global environmental changes resulting from anthropogenic activity. However most of this research
has focused on the scientific bases of environmental transformations with little attention to how
human social responses are linked to global change. As a result, scientists and researchers alike are
beginning to ask questions about the symbiotic relationship between human well being and physical
change.

In general, the incidence of non melanoma and malignant melanoma skin cancer has increased
significantly over the past few decades, particularly in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United
Kingdom, and Scandinavian countries. This large outbreak has intrigued researchers into examining
the relationship of the growing risk of skin cancer to increases in ground level UV B radiation due to
ozone depletion.
According to the latest Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion issued by the United Nations and
the US Government, human influenced ozone depletion may peak around 1998
and will persist well into the 21st century. For the US and other mid latitude countries of the Northern
Hemisphere, ozone losses during summer and fall months may peak at 6 7% relative to ozone
concentrations in the 1960s. Winter/spring depletion could peak at nearly twice those levels.
Vienna Convention and Skin Cancer Incidence
The 1985 Vienna Convention built a baseline for international restrictions on the production of ozone
depleting substances. To evaluate the consequences of these restrictions the convention and its
associates projected skin cancer incidence under three scenarios: 1) no restrictions (the Business as
Usual curve); (2) reduced production of five ozone depleting chemicals by 50 percent by 1999 (under

Martial Fitness Training
Power, Body Mechanics and Flexibility
This martial fitness training program has been tailor made to meet the specific demands of martial
artists and warrior athletes.
Why is fitness training for martial artists important at every level of their training?
In short...
Done properly it will sharpen your body mechanics, increase mobility and flexibility along with your
ability to generate power (important for a solid base, striking and kicking) and just as importantly it
will help to counteract the imbalances already currently in your body from previous injuries or bad
habits in training.
Martial Fitness Training Basics
The martial fitness training program below is split into 3 phases encompassing power, body
mechanics and flexibility. Each phase is simply a period of time in which you train in a particular way
to achieve a particular objective. The exercises are different in each phase and build on the ones
performed previously. Each phase requires only 3 sessions a week commitment.
Warming up is essential before any type of physical training and there are scientific studies to back
this up. It s also important to warm up before each martial fitness training session. Perform 5 10
minutes of light aerobic exercise (jogging, stationery bike, rower, etc.) followed by joint mobility for
every joint and then do some stretches to all the major muscle groups.
Some of the exercises below are unique and you may not be familiar with them. It s

Traditional Drug Discovery Methods used trial and error approach substances were introduce to
animals or in vitro on the target without any prior knowledge of what would be the result. The effects
observed in these cases are examined the treatments for the disease. For example, if a drug gives an
effect to a pancreas cells, it can tested for insulin related disease like diabetes.
2. Rational Drug Discovery approach starts with a hypothesis, typically the modification of a present
known molecule giving a therapeutic effect. After selection of biologic, the next process is screening,
this involves the screening of many variants of the prospective therapy. It is a common practice to use:
High Throughput Screening Once a target has been selected, it is usually cloned and expressed to
generate thousands or millions of exact copies which are then incubated separately known as screens
and can be test on the target (Rollins et al,. 2014) A positive reaction are called hits and further
screened to determine if it act on particular target or other targets too. Hit more targets produce a toxic
effect in following trials in animals and humans. The best hits labeled as a lead compound, and can go
for further testing and the others are labeled as backups.
Other method uses extracts from a natural product like plant derived molecules, antimicrobials from
microorganisms, active compounds.

Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs
Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see
many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the years,
which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about them. In order
to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog itself, and how to
properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the breed is known to have
major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter lifespans compared to other dog
breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate surgery in order to even breathe properly.
Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs, causing increased airway resistance. This, in
the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones

Explain Why Pope Urban Ll Called for a Crusade Essay
In 1095, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban ll made a powerful and well planned speech. His
message was clear and precise, go to the holy land in Jerusalem and claim back what is rightfully
yours or die trying, and in return remission of all your sins with the assurance of the imperishable
glory of the kingdom of heaven . He was addressing Christians from all over France calling for a
Crusade in the name of God and as many would argue, abusing his authority and status he received
from the Catholic Church. What occurred during the First Crusade is well known to many, whereas the

Finally, an additional reason for Urban s calling for a so called Crusade was that he felt the lands of
Christ needed to be reclaimed and in the control of Christianity not in the hands of infidels . Jerusalem
is at the centre of the Christian faith and is the religions birth place. It is the land in which Jesus was
crucified and then, as Christians believe, bought back to life in a miracle event. Urban said in his
speech, wrest that land from the wicked race, that land which the scripture says floweth with milk and
honey and was given by god to the children of Israel . By these few words we can understand why
Urban felt so strongly that it the land of Christians and why he ordered for it to be reclaimed, even if it
mean death. At the time of Urban s speech Jerusalam was under the rule of Muslim, who also have a
strong attachment with the land as it is the place where the holy prophet descended to heaven. Urban
however believed that it belonged to the Christians and therefore ordered it to be reclaimed in the
name of god .

rightfully belonged to the Christians and unite the Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches. Through

The Mpaa Rating System Of America
The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of
America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies
(MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate
for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of
appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the
original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code
Administration) (Rocchi). Not all systems are perfect, which is why this one was revised and
eventually turned into the more recent MPAA rating system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13
movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed
the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that
everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different
parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently
depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a
little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow
their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child
from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels
about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The
different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of
kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different
ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real

brother, Tom and his father. Throughout his summer, Douglas was filled with happiness and sadness.
His best friend, John moved away and many people died like Colonel Freeleigh and Helen Loomis.
There were a plethora of happy moments too. Douglas felt alive for the first time. The grass whispered
under his body. He put his arm down, feeling the sheat of fuzz on it, and far away, below, his toes
creaking in his shoes. The wind sighed over his shelled ears. The world slipped bright over the glassy
round of his eyeballs like images sparked in a crystal sphere. Flowers were suns and fiery spots of sky
strewn through the woodland. Birds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, he put his arm down, feeling the sheat of fuzz on it, the wind sighed over his shelled
ears, and the flowers were suns and fiery spots of sky strewn through the woodland. The description of
how Douglas felt that moment tells me that Douglas felt alive. Douglas said he would carry all the
buckets of fruit that they had picked up, he jumped on his brother Tom and rolled down the hill while
holding on to Tom. Also, Douglas laid down and noticed his surroundings and he screamed and
shouted that he was alive about a dozen times. An experience that made me feel alive was when I rode
my first BIG rollercoaster. I was 6 years old was at the amusement park at the Mall of America in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. I had just finished going on all of the little kids rides because I was scared to
go on the BIG roller coasters. so I went to my older sister, Nikita. Nikita was standing in line for this
BIG roller coaster called the Fairly Odd. She said, Come and stand in line with me. I said, You
promise you won t make me go on that rollercoaster. She said Yes so I stood in line with her. A few
minutes later, we were standing in the front on the line, and the next roller coaster cart was ready. I
couldn t back out now, there was a whole line if people behind me so I sat in the cart. My sister smiled
and she said Don t worry because I was so scared and I was angry at her. The rollercoaster was
starting and I was holding onto the railing so tight that my

Equifax Breach And The Breaching Of The Democratic Party...
The issue of strong cybersecurity efforts in the United States has been especially topical in 2017, and
on the rise over the last few years. The Equifax breach and the breaching of the Democratic Party
during the 2016 Presidential Election are recent examples that are bringing up the conversation of
cybersecurity and make citizens curious of whether or not the United States government has plans in
place to deter these events from happening. People are already worried about the damages these
attacks can cause with consequences such as stolen information or monetary loss of close to five
billion dollars in 2017 alone (cybersecurityventures.com). Although there are already solid plans in
place to raise cybersecurity efforts in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These attacks can be extremely damaging to one s intellectual properties (information, money, etc) as
well as a concern for personal safety. The key to stopping or minimizing these attacks is to learn what
these attacks are and how they are executed to really create an effective plan to stop unnecessary
losses.
In order to understand the true problems with these plans in place, we must first discuss what these
practices are. In early 2016, former President Obama created a Cybersecurity National Action Plan or
CNAP, for short. The issue of cybersecurity is a very big one in the United States and President
Obama knows and understands the true importance of this issue. The CNAP discusses some of the
most important concerns over this topic and does the best it can to combat it with the best of its ability.
This plan includes things such as establishing a commission on enhancing national cybersecurity using
experts from outside the government, a proposal of a $3.1 billion dollar Information Technology
Modernization Fund to help modernize and replace old information about this subject in the
government, and invest close to $19 billion dollars for cybersecurity (The President s National
Cybersecurity Plan: What You Need to Know).
The reason there has been such a huge debate over cyber security in the United States as of late is due
to the slew of recent large scale attacks that have affected a large amount

The Spirit Of Justice In David s Tales From Ovid
In a world of fire and brimstone, humanity was born. There was no peace, no goodness, no
compassion, a trial by fire. Within this debauched world seeped in chaos, we established order. With it,
we created society and bound the very nature to our will, yet, just as our order binds others, it ensnares
us. In this society of our own creation Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains, as Rousseau
once said. These chains, the shackles of justice, were forged by us to be weapons against ourselves.
And so we decide when to use that weapon, to decide once and for all what is justice and what is not.
Tales from Ovid, a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong is both essential and worthless, and
the spirit of the stories, embodied in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that story, Tiresias, a man is called up to the heavens to settle an argument between Jupiter and
Juno. In retaliation for siding with Jupiter, Juno curses him to a life of blindness but receives the gift
of prophecy from Jupiter. This ultimately brief story highlights one of the main themes of Tales from
Ovid, the idea of divine wrath and benefit. Those who anger the Olympians receive despair in return,
often transformed into a lower existence. Actaeon, who only by accident sees Diana naked, is forced
to be a stag that is hunted and killed by his friends and hounds. Such is a humiliation above all others.
Actaeon, who was a predator, is now the prey, a lowly stag. Yet, in other cases, people are rewarded by
the gods. King Midas, who returned Silenus, one of Bacchus s friends, to the god received one wish
within Bacchus s power. There is no concept of morality within these dealings, only the idea of what
pleases and what angers. Such is not true justice, only a dark revenge or heavenly blessing based on
primitive emotions. Yet, these ideas reveal much about us, the creators of the work. The very presence
of divine entities, such as Jupiter, allows them to judge mortals, the people below them, to right so
called wrongs. People crave a higher power, people above them, to make the decisions. Yet in contrast
with this, Tiresias is asked to make a judgment for the immortals, showing that people still want a say
in what happens. These paradoxical desires are mixed with an intense fear of being punished by those
same almighty beings, exemplified by Tiresias s punishment from Juno. These conflicting themes
represent what humanity first conceived justice to be: punishment in the form of revenge, to have a
higher being right wrongs. Knowing justice can be a double edged sword, the fear of it being aimed at
them terrifies the masses. This

California Heritage Language
The United States is known as the world s melting pot. However, California adopts this title to a
greater extent, as California accepts immigrants from a variety of different countries. Heritage
languages specifically have impacted the state of California as the diverse languages enable first,
second, and third generation speakers to all connect and communicate. Throughout California, there
are specific regions in which a particular language is most prevalent. Languages like Hebrew, Italian,
Armenian, Korean, and variations of Chinese are represented with their own sector in California.
These areas strengthen the ethnolinguistic vitality of these languages. Previously to this class, I was
not aware of the different dialects that were common in California. If I were to hear someone speaking
Chicano English or African American English I would unrightfully assume that they were speaking
English incorrectly. However, throughout this course I learned each of these dialects contains their
own unique rules, which make them grammatically and linguistically correct. Even though these
dialects are linguistically equal, that does not make them socially equal. Besides accented English, non
English speakers are generally judged based on their accent. This however, is linguistic profiling,
which is illegal in the United States. It is hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the heritage language interview my interviewee Aaron Aziz talked passionately about his
language and the importance of passing down the traditions into the younger generation. Once he had
children, he began teaching them Hebrew so eventually they could talk to one another in his native
language. I myself am Jewish and had a Bat Mitzvah, but I do not have the ability to carry on a
conversation in Hebrew. I feel that everyone should have insight about his or her heritage language

Reflective Essay On Community Activities
1. MRC Community Participation The opportunities for community building within MRC are
abundant and seem to never end. This chance to connect, build, and maintain relationships with fellow
peers interested in research and a community is a priceless experience that is very unique to MRC. In
just a few short months, I have actively aimed to attend every event that was offered, soaking in all of
the opportunities that MRC has to offer. While I haven t made it to every event, I do try my best to
find time for my community. Firstly, my favorite event that MRC hosts is MRC tea time, for this is a
great way to meet MRC alumni, converse with the wonderful staff, and share stories with friends from
the fourth and fifth floors, all while drinking warm tea! I truly love this event and I met one of my
great friends there, Milan, and a helpful mentor, Maddie! Because picking favorite MRC events feels
like picking my favorite family members, I am now just going to list some of the amazing events I
have been to. The creativity within MRC is absolutely astonishing! This is evident by all of the fun
events planned by our own members. I have been to an event for building zen gardens, and solving a
murder case, and a game night where there was a karaoke machine. I have watched La La Land with
fourth floor middle Jo and popped my stress away with Crystal and her floor. STEPS encouraged me
to step out of my comfort zone. Community conversations provides an experience to open up to our

The Benefits Of College Tuitions In America
College tuitions in American is too expansive for the young adult who has the potential to be
successful in our community. Many people were not able to attend college due to financial issues.
College tuitions can go over $100,000 for a four year college. In result, they find part time jobs to pay
their tuitions and spend extra time in college for total of six through seven years instead of four years
to achieve their bachelor degree. In addition, many college students take loans and had to pay over
$30,000 of debt after attending college (Lobosco). It s upsetting to see people especially young adults
to get accept to an excellent college but unable to afford it.
This has become a huge problem because we are speaking about the future of America. The people
who has the potential to do good for the country. One of them can even be our president one day and
help aid America. Everyone deserve an opportunity to become successful however it cost a lot of
money and it hold many people back to do so. In the article When Colleges Dangle Money to Lure
Students Who Ignored Them Ron Lieber talk about students get accepted into colleges and unable to
afford it unless college tuitions are low cost. Lieber is only speaking about a liberal arts program
which made a lot of student overwhelm by the cost of tuition. I could not imagine what will law or
medical school would cost. Lieber states The Upheaval that comes with reopening the college decision

Ritalin and Aderall
i. Diagnosis of ADHD
ADHD is a condition which affects multiple areas of functioning. Because of the widespread
diagnosis this disease keeps doctors, pharmaceutical businesses, and teachers employed. According to
Diller (2008), the use of drugs like Ritalin is at rates never seen before in this country or anywhere
else. Diller also states that we medicate our children with psychiatric drugs ten or twenty times more
than countries of Western Europe (pg50). Many children are said to be made unhappy, often alienating
themselves from parents and others. They are also much more unmotivated which is directly related to
the use of ADHD medication. Parents lean on medication as an excuse to control their children; when
most children do not even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drug Industry
In the supply and demand society that we live in, there will always be a need for drugs. Adderall and
Ritalin are included in this equation. There are ads for these medications promoting children who look
perfectly and act rather perfectly while on the drug. The companies are targeting parents who want
their children to feel normal. There are high hopes of dependency which would then increase sales for
the businesses selling the drugs. In the long run they are hoping for drug abuse which will keep them
in business. The marketing of these drugs will only hurt us in the long run, though. As a nation we will
feel sicker and sicker until we move away from the medical model and begin to view most of our
major health issues as manifestations of inequitable economic and social factors (Diller, pg50).
Something needs to be done to move away from this method of medicating children unless there is a
serious need.
Ritalin is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for ADHD. With it, there are associated
physical side effects such as nausea, weight loss, sleep problems, tics, growth suppression, and heart
disease. These are just some of the immediate effects. Another concern with Ritalin is the potential
long term effects that have a larger effect on the child s psychological health. According to Pozzi,
Ritalin can lower the self esteem and reduces the creativity in growing children because after

Saul was chosen by God to unify the the 12 tribes of Israel and rule over them. Due to his obedience
to God, Saul was able to bring together the tribes and successfully led the israelites. Through his faith,
he was able to lead his people through numerous victories flourishing the newly united nation. After
many years of ruling, Saul had begun to stray away from the path of God, which eventually led to his
downfall as king. One day Saul and the prophet Samuel were set to offer up a burned offering to the
lord. But the act of offering the sacrifice was appointed to Samuel only because it was the duty gifted
to a priest. God had instructed the israelites the proper way to offer up a sacrifice to him. Saul was to
wait seven days until [Samuel came to him] and [told him] what [he was] to do. (KJV 1 Samuel 13:8).
Instead of waiting, Saul took it upon himself to offer the sacrifice. This blatant act of disobedience
offended God. Saul was instructed to wait for God to fulfil his promise. But, because of his lack of
faith in God s word he overstep his boundaries and decided to disobey. God then punished Saul by
telling him that his reign would come to an end and he would be replaced as King. Instead of
repenting for his sins to try and regain God s favor, Saul had continue to sin from that point onwords

The English Imperial System
Nicholas Wonosaputra Mrs. Laura Randazzo Honors Freshman English 26 January 2016 The
System of Change The English Imperial System of measurement has become a symbol of pride for the
United States, yet also the cause for the country s isolation, and internal confusion. It is due to these
inconveniences that Lincoln Chaffee, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate and former Rhode
Island governor, states that the country must, be bold [and] join the rest of the world and go metric
(Jaffe). Such a move towards the Metric System is absolutely necessary for the current, and future,

al). Furthermore, parents using English Imperial measurements while utilizing standardized
instruments were still two times as likely to make a dosing error as those who used the Metric

are taking oral medication at any given time in the United States, it is imperative that parents are sure
and precise in measuring dosages for their children (Vernacchio et. al). By transferring medication
instructions from tablespoons and teaspoons to milliliters, the safety of children within the United
States will increase drastically. When the impacts within science, international affairs, and child safety
are considered, it is clear that the United States must make the crucial decision of adopting the Metric
System. While the transition to metric will need hard work and patience from within the United States,
the overall benefits will outweigh the temporary costs, giving the country the boost it needs to interact
more freely with other countries with a universally agreed system. It is time for the United States to

The thesis of the paper is ISIS/ISIL romancing of vulnerable Western women and luring them into
their caliphate through new technology (e.g., social media). The majority of the women being
recruited are those who share the ideology that Muslim s are being systematically oppressed. Then
there is the fascination of an Arabian Knights tale of being married to a jihadi warrior; add to this, this
fantasy of a worldly romance, being a devout wife and mother is appealing to idealistic young girls
who thirst for adventure. Those who are pariahs in Western society find this change appealing; thus,
the idea of creating and living in a new society, a utopia, is a dream come true for many of these
young women/girls. However, as with most organizations, there is a dark side, even darker than Fifty
Shades of Grey. These women and young girls eventually come to realize that they are no more than
sex and reproductive slaves. The brutal reality of this existence has left a trail of broken hearts among
the relatives of these young women/girls in their native countries. A once perceived beneficent

  • 2. The Veldt By Ray Bradbury. How Are Children Better Than... Today, some children have had a tendency to favor materialistic items over respect for parents; however, Ray Bradbury, the author of The Veldt disagrees with this concept. Bradbury believes that when children are too involved in items, they become brainwashed and it has a negative effect on society. Mr. and Mrs. Hadley (the parents) from The Veldt , struggle to discipline their kids, which results in the children not having a priority to respect them. Through using allusions, setting, and technology, the author warn children that materialistic items should not be valued higher than respect for their parents. Ray Bradbury uses technology to show that the children rely more on the technology and materialistic items, then they do of their parents. The nursery in The Veldt possesses things that purr and recede into crystalline distance and ...this house which clothed and fed and rocked them to sleep and played and sang and was good to them. (Bradbury 1). Through the description of the nursery, it provides the reader with a sense of the nursery being high tech, expensive and more dependable than the parents should be. This shows that the Hadley family does not lack money so whatever they need, it is always right there. Bradbury also states, Peter looked at his shoes. He never looked at his father any more, nor his mother and Would I have to tie my own shoes instead of letting the shoe tier do it? (Bradbury 9). In these quotes, it shows that by now the children have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Type 2 Diabetes And Psychotic Depression Essay Type 2 Diabetes and Psychotic Depression Type 2 diabetes and psychotic depression interrelate in different ways. First, substances of abuse such as cannabis, alcohol and tobacco have the potential to interfere with or change the pharmacokinetics of the oral hypoglycemic agents used in treating diabetes in addition. In addition, the use and presence of a comorbid psychiatric disorder like depression interfere with the management of diabetes. The interference occurs by negative influence on patients adherence to treatment adherence. There are also disorders such as phobia of needles and injections in psychotic patients, which can make it difficult to diagnose and treat diabetes through blood glucose testing and insulin injection. Such phobias interfere with the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Finally, patients with psychotic depression are less likely to go for psychiatric test and treatment, thus delaying the diagnosis or detection of co occurring diabetes. Essay about Mittell’s Television Genre Theory and Louie Originally published in Cinema Journal 40, No. 3, Spring 2001, Jason Mittell s A Cultural Approach to Television Genre Theory conceives of television genre as a cultural category rather than merely a textual component. In the decade since the original publishing of the article, television has evolved out of the multi channel era and into the post network era. In this new television landscape, genres are no longer a fixed entity1, and there is great academic potential in the in the study of television genres. LOUIE: A GENERIC DISCOURSE Mittell suggests that genre studies should negotiate between specificity and generality, and offers the following as an approach: The second way would be to start with a specific media case study and analyze how genre processes operate within this specific instance. Such projects might isolate a variety of starting points an industrial formation, audience practices, a textual instance, a policy decision, or a moment in social history. We may start with a textual case to motivate our study, but we must still examine how genres transcend textual boundaries and operate within audience and industry practices as well.3 Also, according to the article, we should focus on the breadth of discursive enunciations around any given instance, mapping out as many articulations of genre as possible and situating them within larger cultural contexts and relations of power.4 So, any generic discourse must begin with a full understanding of the context of a particular text in this case, Louie. Each year a man ages, his chances of developing prostate cancer increases. The good news is that prostate cancer does not typically lead to further health problems and spreads slowly. In fact, many doctors are now recommending, especially in seniors, that the cancer is monitored (an action known as active surveillance) and not treated unless absolutely necessary, since the side effects of surgery or other treatment options are often far worse than the prostate cancer itself. There is currently no one set of traits or behaviors that are linked to prostate cancer. The CDC notes, however, that if a man has a father, brother, or son who has had prostate cancer [he] is two to three times more likely to develop the disease himself. A man may suspect he has prostate cancer if he starts to have difficulty urinating and/or cannot fully empty the bladder, experiences frequent nighttime urination, has a burning sensation while urinating or sees blood in the urine, experiences pain the back of the pelvis, or experiences painful ejaculation. These symptoms do not necessarily mean that prostate cancer is present, but a medical check up is certainly warranted, especially if more than one of the symptoms is experienced. • 8. Fire and Heat Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Essay Fire and Heat Imagery in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre The essence of any true magnificent piece of literature is not what one can see in words. It is what one can see behind the words. It is through the symbolism and imagery found in works of literature that a reader can truly connect with the writer. Charlotte Bronte epitomizes the spirit of the unread but understood in her Victorian work Jane Eyre. There have been numerous essays and theories presented examining the complex symbolism and imagery used by Bronte in Jane Eyre. Much of the imagery she uses concentrates on passion, fantasy, and the supernatural. In this essay I will examine Bronte s use of fire and heat imagery pertaining to Mr. Rochester and Jane s love relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Jane informed Mr. Rochester that she must leave him for the sake of both their souls, his reaction was almost devil like, his voice and hand quivered: his large nostrils dilated; his eyes blazed. These images of dilating nostrils and blazing eyes are typical of a devil like figure. Rochester, the devil, attempts to convince Jane, the weak human, of going against God and sinning their soul to hell. To further convince Jane of staying with him, Rochester tells her than he ll put Adele in a boarding school and get rid of Thornfield. He calls Thornfield this accursed place This tent of Achan. In Joshua vii Achan took of the accursed thing , i.e., he took spoils of war from the conquered city of Jericho, and concealed them in his tent. He and his family were ritually stoned to death at the Lord s command as a result. Rochester s situation parallels that of Achan. He, like Achan, wants to claim what is not his. He wants to lay hold on something that he has no right too essentially Jane Eyre. Also, it is interesting that he refers to Thornfield as an accursed place. This symbolizes a foreshadowing of the destruction of Thornfield later on in the novel. Despite all this, Jane, as all humans, falls weak to matters of the heart. Fortunately, whenever her resolve quivers, Bronte uses imagery of cleansing fire to strengthened her. For example, when Jane was leaving for bed after Rochester ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another characteristic that differentiate between business to business market demand and business to consumer is that business to business products tend to have inelastic demand (Hutt amp; Speh, 2010). This principle shows that business to business product has demand characteristics with no correlation with price. BD had increased the price of its evacuated blood collection tube between 1979 to 1985 from 6 cents per unit to 8 cents per unit, where as its competitor, Terumo, a Japanese firm has kept its price at 6.5 cents per unit. However, BD has not lost its market share, which was kept at roughly 80 per cent while Terumo had increased its market share from 10 per cent to 20 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993). This change in market share for Terumo, can be explained by other means rather than arguing that Terumo, by keeping its price, absorbing any cost increases and inflation, has created an elastic demand like in business to consumer. This argument is highlighted in the fact that in the market for blood collection needles in the same period, even though both BD and Terumo had kept its per unit price at 7.5 cents, BD market share has dropped from 40 per cent to 30 BD while Terumo doubled its market share from 25 per cent to 50 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993). • 16. The Plate Tectonics Of New Zealand Study of the plate tectonics of New Zealand has been undertaken since the early 1800s, however the most notable discovery regarding the plate tectonic setting was made in the 1940s by Harold Wellman, who discovered the Alpine Fault. Since then, our knowledge of the plate tectonic setting of New Zealand has been vastly expanded, leading to our present day understanding of the topic. A large part of our present day knowledge of the plate tectonic setting has been gained through the study of active faulting the visible and measurable signs of fault line activity and their ruptures. Our current understanding is that the country sits on the boundary of the Australian and the Pacific plate. The nature of this boundary changes depending on the area of the country studied, from strike slip to convergent. Evidence from active faulting can be used to prove the nature of this boundary on land by studying both the North and South Island Fault Systems. South Island Fault System The Alpine Fault is a clear starting point for analysis of the plate tectonic setting of NZ. It is the most visually obvious sign of tectonic activity in NZ as it is responsible for the creation of the Southern Alps, a 500 kilometre long chain of mountains which stretch from the Nelson Lakes to Milford. Both sides of the argument bring out valid points, but when we take a look through Deontology point of view we have a strong argument on why abortion is wrong. Deontologist s focus is on the rightness or wrongness of the actions, thus the duty of these actions is taken in the consideration. The duty of caring for the child from the beginning of it s life until maturity, and the duty to see that the life of a fetus ends in itself and not by us, is the focus of Deontologists argument against abortion. The phrase magical realism in the context of literature was first coined by the Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier to describe the combination of the fantastic and everyday occurrences in Latin American fiction. Over time, the term has been vastly modified by writers from a plethora of backgrounds. Nevertheless, magical realism still refers to the tendency to mix the magical and terrestrial in a context of realistic narration, as seen in the works of Gabriel García Márquez. Born in Columbia, Gabriel García Márquez introduces readers to magical realism through one of his short stories A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by combining earthly and fantastic elements to create an image of an ordinary society with mythical creatures. In his work, Gabriel García Márquez effectively illustrates the coexistence of cruelty and morality in society through the strategic utilization of magical realism. According to the latest Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion issued by the United Nations and the US Government, human influenced ozone depletion may peak around 1998 and will persist well into the 21st century. Finally, an additional reason for Urban s calling for a so called Crusade was that he felt the lands of Christ needed to be reclaimed and in the control of Christianity not in the hands of infidels . It is the land in which Jesus was crucified and then, as Christians believe, bought back to life in a miracle event. Urban said in his speech, wrest that land from the wicked race, that land which the scripture says floweth with milk and honey and was given by god to the children of Israel . By these few words we can understand why Urban felt so strongly that it the land of Christians and why he ordered for it to be reclaimed, even if it mean death. • 39. The Mpaa Rating System Of America The MPAA rating system, which was created and is regulated by the Motion Picture Association of America, was set in place to help determine how old you have to be in order to view different movies (MPAA Ratings). This system is supposed to help determine whether a movie is deemed appropriate for different age levels, but most of the age groups are quite broad and how a person views the level of appropriateness can be biased. The current rating system was created in 1968, which replaced the original system called, The Production Code (also known as the PCA or the Production Code Administration) (Rocchi). Not all systems are perfect, which is why this one was revised and eventually turned into the more recent MPAA rating system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ratings PG 13 and NC 17 were added to resolve the issues of people complaining that some PG 13 movies were too violent and because the NC 17 movies had such mature content in them, it surpassed the R rating (Rocchi). One of the major reasons why the MPAA rating system is unfair is the fact that everyone has different views on violence. The rating system is designed to measure how different parents react to different types of movies and by doing this, every parent will react differently depending on their opinions towards what is being shown (Wilson). Some parents are okay with a little violence while others are more strict. Another example is video games, some parents may allow their child to play the more violent and gory games while other parents strongly prohibit their child from playing those games; the same thing goes for movies; it just depends on how the parent feels about the subject. The rating system also ignores the fact that the age divisions are wide ranging. The different age divisions are ages 0 13, 13 17, over 17, and over 18. The main concern is the group of kids aged 0 13. The problem with this is a four year old and a twelve year old would react in different ways to a movie because younger children attribute life and realism to any character that looks real while older children are more mature and ... • 43. The Spirit Of Justice In David s Tales From Ovid In a world of fire and brimstone, humanity was born. There was no peace, no goodness, no compassion, a trial by fire. Within this debauched world seeped in chaos, we established order. With it, we created society and bound the very nature to our will, yet, just as our order binds others, it ensnares us. In this society of our own creation Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains, as Rousseau once said. These chains, the shackles of justice, were forged by us to be weapons against ourselves. And so we decide when to use that weapon, to decide once and for all what is justice and what is not. Tales from Ovid, a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong is both essential and worthless, and the spirit of the stories, embodied in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In that story, Tiresias, a man is called up to the heavens to settle an argument between Jupiter and Juno. In retaliation for siding with Jupiter, Juno curses him to a life of blindness but receives the gift of prophecy from Jupiter. This ultimately brief story highlights one of the main themes of Tales from Ovid, the idea of divine wrath and benefit. Those who anger the Olympians receive despair in return, often transformed into a lower existence. Actaeon, who only by accident sees Diana naked, is forced to be a stag that is hunted and killed by his friends and hounds. Such is a humiliation above all others. Actaeon, who was a predator, is now the prey, a lowly stag. Yet, in other cases, people are rewarded by the gods. King Midas, who returned Silenus, one of Bacchus s friends, to the god received one wish within Bacchus s power. There is no concept of morality within these dealings, only the idea of what pleases and what angers. Such is not true justice, only a dark revenge or heavenly blessing based on primitive emotions. Yet, these ideas reveal much about us, the creators of the work. The very presence of divine entities, such as Jupiter, allows them to judge mortals, the people below them, to right so called wrongs. People crave a higher power, people above them, to make the decisions. Yet in contrast with this, Tiresias is asked to make a judgment for the immortals, showing that people still want a say in what happens. These paradoxical desires are mixed with an intense fear of being punished by those same almighty beings, exemplified by Tiresias s punishment from Juno. These conflicting themes represent what humanity first conceived justice to be: punishment in the form of revenge, to have a higher being right wrongs. Knowing justice can be a double edged sword, the fear of it being aimed at them terrifies the masses. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
