The Personal Management Style Of Angelita De Luna
The Personal Management Style of Angelita De Luna
While conducting research for this paper I was forced to look at the reasons that led to my
current path. Although I am a self proclaimed introvert and would prefer to be a doer and
follower; my passion for the American Red Cross made it possible for me to accept new
responsibilities. I have been in a formal management role for 2 years but have served with this
organization for over 11 years. During this time I survived several reorganizations which have been
accompanied by many different management styles. It is because of these experiences that I made
the decision to move into my current role in a department that impacts every person within the
organization. I am the regional manager ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leadership or leading on the other hand is defined as the process of influencing others to
achieve group or organizational goals (Williams, 2016, p. 5). I would also add that a leader is
someone that can be counted on to step up during a crisis to lead their team through it. I considers
herself to a good manager and leader and will provide my reasoning for this statement.
Management Styles
Now that we have a basic understanding of management and leadership we can review a few
different styles of management and I can offer personal experiences and preferences. There are six
different management styles that I would like to review which include directive, affiliative,
pacesetting, coaching, participative, and authoritative styles (Cardinal, n.d).
Directive or Coercive Style. A directive or coercive style of management is interested in the
compliance or obedience of their employees (Cardinal, n.d.). According to Peck, these managers
tend to tell people what to do rather than allowing them the opportunity to find answers on their
own (n.d.). In my experience, this form of management is not productive. One of my former
directors, Kathy, transferred to the office with many years of experience. Within the first week
she held staff meetings where she issued out orders and assigned tasks on top of our growing
workload. All projects had to be completed exactly to her specification or she would issue verbal
and written warnings which she referred to as CQIs or

Intrinsic Human Dignity and Equality in Relation to...
Liberal democracy is prevalent in the West. This political arrangement guarantees the rights of a
people in relation to their government. Many Westerners, unfortunately, cannot give a philosophical
explanation and/or justification for it. Ultimately, an examination of liberal democracy will
demonstrate that it rests on notions of human dignity, equality and happiness, which are not recent
developments in philosophy, but have their origins in classical and scholastic thought. It is in said
examination that one can reasonably conclude that liberal democracywhile not the best system of
government is certainly better than the alternatives. Democracy is not a contemporary
phenomenon. It did not originate here in North America. Rather, its... Show more content on

It would be arbitrary and subjective for individuals to judge their own craft, may it be the arts or

Thus, institutions are needed because practices [require] a certain kind of relationship between
those who participate in it (191). This relationship is not only with contemporary practitioners, but
with past practitioners whose achievements extended the reach of the peace to its present point

previously mentioned goods. Democratic practices, in short, are ensured by democratic institutions.
Popular rule does not occur by simple fiat, but through institutional frameworks. Robert A. Dahl in

Pathophysiology
RA is a mediated inflammatory process that triggers an autoimmune response. The result is in the
production of antibodies and inflammatory cytokines that over time destroys bone, cartilage,
tendons, ligaments and blood vessels (Dewing, Setter, Slusher, 2012). Although joints are the
primary areas of destruction, the inflammatory process can also affect various organs, such as heart
tissue including the heart values, visceral layers of the lung and brain, spleen, sclera and larynx
(Dunphy, Windland Brown, Porter, Thomas 2011). If RA is not treated promptly or if the patient
does not respond to treatment, irrevocable bone deformity, bone erosion and immobility is often the
sequelae.

Although there are a variety of CAM options, only a few have been investigated and show
promise. Tai Chi and Omega 3 fatty acidsupplement are two types of CAM that show potential to

Complementary Alternative Therapy
The National Health Institute defines complementary alternative therapy as a health care
methodology used outside of or in addition to mainstream medicine (National Center for
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), 2013). CAM is divided into five groups: (1)
oral based product, such as supplements, (2) body manipulation, such as massage, chiropractic,
reflexing and osteopathy, (3) mind and body therapies, consisting of yoga, tai chi, meditation,
biofeedback and hypnosis, (4) energy touches, which includes Reiki, Gigong, and prayer; and (5)
holistic approaches, such as homeopathy, naturopathy, traditional Chinese and Indian medicine.
According to Efthimiou, Kukar, and Mackenzie (2009) there has been exponential growth in those
who seek CAM. In 2010, data demonstrates that 40 60% of Americans use CAM to cope with
medical conditions. This growth trend is attributed to increased public awareness through social
media and patient s desires to try something new and promising. Barnes and Bloom (2008)
determined that individuals decided to use CAM therapies because they were frustrated by the lack

The Statue Of Donatello s Saint George
Donatello s Saint George is brave, is immovable but still human. Made from marble, the statue
stands monumentally in size at just over 6 10 . It is known that Donatello created the statue
using the subtraction method like many Renaissance sculptors. The figure itself is decorated
with many objects and clothing that are part of the whole build. The knight is seen proudly
showing off his shield that has a size of half his body. He is dressed in knightly clothing such as
a chest plate, cloak, plate skirt, boots, and gloves. The Statue is thought to represent the classical
heroes that were masculine yet still delicate. He appears to be ready for anything that comes in his
way but still deep in thought. To add on to the humanism, it is believed by most scholars that he is
in contrapposto; he is resting on one foot like a normal person.... Show more content on

Donatello constructed this whole figure from circa 1410 to 1415. However, the idea of the knight
s symbol came from the fact that Saint George was an actual knight in the Roman Army under the
Emperor Diocletian. His famous tale was of his victory against a plague bearing Dragon that lived
in a lake and threatened the neighboring countryside. However, this was not why Saint George was
made into a saint and/or why made into a statue. His Emperor, who thought of him as his best
tribune, did not want to kill Saint George; in fact, he offered him tremendous amounts of wealth to
convert from Christianity to Roman faith. However, with Georges loud and contempt refusals, he
was ordered to be executed and from the 4th century onward became one of the most venerated

Understanding Of Free Will And God s Omniscience
Great Theologian Paper
Consolations of Philosophy
Prompt: Analyze Boethius s understanding of free will and God s omniscience as found in the
Consolation of Philosophy. (4 6 Pages)
The idea of human will has taken over Christians for centuries. Boethius the theologian offers two
different ideas in the book Consolations of Philosophy, the understanding of divine foreknowledge
and free will. Boethius explains There seems to be a hopeless conflict between divine
foreknowledge of all things and freedom of human will. For if God sees everything in advance and
cannot be deceived in any way, whatever his providence foresees will happen, must happen.
Therefor, if God foreknows eternally not only all the acts of men, but also their plans and wishes,
there cannot be freedom of will, nothing whatever can be done or even desired without its being
known beforehand by the infallible Providence of God. (Baird, Philosophic Classics, Consolations
of Philosophy 126.)
Others have concluded that omniscience and human free will are exclusive. All actions are known
by God beforehand. Boethius however, refuses to accept that conclusion. He believes that freewill
absolutely is essential to moral activity and responsibility. There is a freewill...and no rational
nature can exist which does not have it. For any being, which by its nature has the use of reason,
must also have the power of judgment by which it can make decision and, by its own resources,
distinguish between things which should be

Great Dynasty As A Powerful Economic And Imperialistic...

Great dynasties in Imperialistic China
Ancient China was always able to flourish as a powerful economic and imperialistic country.
Behind this great amount of early success were great dynasties that played great roles in China s
history. China has always been highly influenced by its great ancient dynasties. These dynasties
were able to establish monetary systems, road and canal systems for trade, and also build great
elaborate historic structures that still stand today. They also influenced different philosophies such
as Taoism and Confucianism. In the long history of China, many great dynasties appear that have
helped a lot to the development of the whole country. Among them, there are... Show more content

They also built a tomb for the emperor containing giant detailed sculptures of each one of his
soldiers called the Terracotta Army. Even though this dynasty only lasted 15 years, the Qin s hold
an important part in Chinese history and it shows great influence on the later dynasties. The Han
dynasty was another highly successful dynasty in Chinese history it covered over four centuries
from 206 BC 220 AD and it is known as the Golden Age in Chinese history. They were considered
this for many reasons; they had the city of Chang an which was one of the two largest cities in
the ancient world at this time. The dynasty had a large growth in population and urbanization
which allowed for an increase of industry and trade which developed on the Silk Road routes.
This ultimately led to an increase in economic growth. This empire had Liu Bang ruling as the
first emperor but under him they had a bureaucracy so they also implemented a civil service exam
to ensure the best people fit for the job were working in the government and under the emperor.
The Han dynasty s government system was in some way implemented throughout the imperial
history of China. The Hans also improved iron amour and swords by making them stronger and
more flexible. With new and improved weapons and tactics

Daughter of Henry VIII and Queen Anne, Elizabeth Tudor became a Queen in 1559, with 25
years old. She was considered the greatest monarch in English history, ruling for 44 years.
Unfortunately, behind all this admirable success, there is a very sad family story. Henry VIII did
not want a daughter, he was willing to have a son that would turn into England s new king, but only
after the third marriagehe got one. He got divorced from his first wife because she got pregnant of
a woman, and then, sadly had Anne to death because she also had gave birth to a female baby.
Finally, he married again, and after all, he got what he wanted so much. Prince Edward was born.

Unique Amino Acid Requirements in Endurance Athletes
Knowledge gap
There is ongoing research in the field of sports nutrition that focus on proteins and specific amino
acid pathways and how they relate to muscle synthesis and degradation. Research on resistance
training and amino acids is quite thorough but is lacking in regards to endurance exercise and
amino acids. High intensity endurance training is important to improve the physical performance of
athletes and requires amino acids as an energy substrate. Because high amounts of energy are
required during training, amino acid supplementation has been used to increase the availability of
amino acids to decrease the degradation of muscle protein and the effect of overtraining. Two of the
main components of supplements that are popular with endurance athletes are BCAA and
glutamine. There are divergent results on the impact of BCAA and glutamine supplementation on
improving athletic performance and preventing muscle break down. As a health professional,
another important component to look at would be the amount of these amino acids that are in
popular supplements and if there is any potential negative side effects that could occur. Clinical
studies on gene defects in the catabolic pathways for BCAAs demonstration their toxicity. The
most known inherited disorder is Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) which is caused by defects in
the genes encoding the subunits of branched chain О± ketoacid dehydrogenase complex (BCKDC).

No Child Left Behind Argumentative Essay
Four words drove me into retirement No Child Left Behind. I could no longer attend to the needs
and wants of my students. All I was supposed to do was get them ready to take tests (Steve
Eklund). Steve Eklund, a schoolteacher in California, states this claim when asked his opinion on
No Child Left Behind by EducationVotes, a page run by the National Education Association.
Through this, he shows his complete disapproval of the act and expresses just one of the reasons
that many see it as a burden to American education. Beginning in 2001, George W. Bush declared
to the American people that it was time to make a change in the American education system. The

The act was made to follow up Lyndon B. Johnson s Elementary and Secondary Education Act,
which was created on April 9th, 1965. However, the No Child Left Behind acttwisted itself to
negatively influence the American education system by implementing inane standards and learning
targets that do not measure actual learning.
One overlying problem seen is within the testing that takes place. Through the act standardized
testing is implemented as a way to determine student proficiency levels, taking typical daily
subjects out of the day to make room for test taking curriculum. Teachers are no longer spending a
majority of time on practical real world skills, but are cramming the days with test taking strategies
and skills needed to prove their intelligence to the United States government. High stakes testing
causes teachers to teach to the test, which means narrowing content to focus solely on topics
covered by the tests (Bohrnstedt et. al. 324). Students are no longer yearning for an education but
rather more are dropping out yearly since No Child Left Behind has taken place, due to the intense
testing that is now required. Teachers are having to

Consciousness and Philosophers of the Mind
Consciousness and Philosophers of Mind
Consciousness is a word used by philosophers, to signify that immediate knowledge which we
have of our present thoughts and purposes, and, in general of all the operations of our mind...
[and] if I am asked to prove that I cannot be deceived by consciousness to prove that it is not a
fallacious sense I can find no proof... (Thomas Reid, referenced by Lehrer, 2008).
Introduction
There are many features of consciousness that philosophers of the mind discuss and debate. Two
are found within the philosophy of Russ McBride; they are: a) ...a conscious creature or subject ;
and b) a conscious mental state (Manson, 2011, 100). Another philosophy professor, Michael
Antony, sees two features that are commonly debated and dissected by scholars in and out of the
field of philosophy. Those features are the conscious state and the conscious creature both of
which will be further developed in this paper. Are mental states always clearly conscious states ?
Or are they clearly not conscious? Antony argues that it is impossible to accept that there could be
any borderline cases or fuzzy boundaries for concepts of consciousness (Antony, 2008). Antony s
and other approaches to consciousness are reviewed and critiqued in this paper.
The Literature on Consciousness
The concept of consciousness is ambiguous and polysemic (having more than one meaning),
according to professor Neil Manson (King s College in London). The fact that

Moll Flanders And The Preface
The justifications made by the narrator of Moll Flanders and the anonymous author of the Preface
are not convincing because their claims are deceitful and appear to act in each individuals own self

explanations which control the readers thoughts about Moll Flanders choices and actions. Similarly,
the author of the Preface directs the attention onto the readers judgements to defend the novel. Both

The beginning of the novel does not agree with the justifications made by the author of the
Preface. The readers soon discover that the story s narrator is unreliable, which makes it
difficult to for the reader to have something of instruction from the story because the narrator
may be lying to obscure the truth (author of Preface 5). The narrator, who goes by the name of
Moll Flanders , does not expose herself (Defoe 7). When the novel begins she exclaims that My
True Name is so well known in the Records, or Registers at Newgate, and in the Old Baily....that it
is not expected I should set my Name (Defoe 7). The narrator conceals her true name to the readers
because she recognizes that the proclamation of her name may result in an imprisonment for prior
felonies. It is at this blurred point of view of the narrator that readers start to doubt if the events in
the novel are true because they don t receive a genuine guide through the story. Instead, they are left
with a nameless raconteur that conveys a personal account without disclosing her true self. The
author of the Preface and the narrator exploit their power which, therefore, makes their justifications
unconvincing. Moll Flanders often provides a passionate rationalization for her bad behavior which
impacts the readers emotions and causes them to feel remorse for her. Many times throughout the

Homer Bad Man Analysis
Modern society relies heavily on media, a form of mass communication, to inherit its values and
beliefs on political and social issues occurring around the world. Two of the most common forms of
communication in this field are current affairs programs and news broadcasts. Due to the mass
production and high demand for news around the world, the images and stories presented to the
public are often skewed, therefore sometimes misrepresenting the truth behind the stories being
reported on. As mediahas become more commonplace in modern society, modern texts have
explored this idea more frequently. Both the television series, Frontline by Rob Sitch et al and The

With stop and wait ARQ, the sender stops and waits for a response from the receiver after each
message or data packet. After receiving a packet, the receiver sends either an acknowledgment
(ACK) if the message was received without error, or a negative acknowledgment (NAK) if the
message contained an error. If it is an NAK, the sender resends the previous message. If it is an
ACK, the sender continues with the next message. Stop and wait ARQ is by definition, a half
duplex transmission technique.
With continuous ARQ, the sender does not wait for an acknowledgment after sending a message; it
immediately sends the next one. While the messages are being transmitted, the sender examines the
stream of returning acknowledgments. If it receives an NAK, the sender retransmits the needed
messages. Continuous ARQ is by definition a full duplex transmission technique, because both the
sender and the receiver are transmitting simultaneously (the sender is sending messages, and the
receiver is sending ACKs and NAKs).

However, when the womantries, and she gets a car to stop instantly by pulling up her skirt to

The Fundamental Principle Of Concept Of Parsimony
The most fundamental principle of behaviourism is the concept of parsimony. The law of
parsimony, which can be known in other variations as the (Occam s Razor or Morgan s canon )
defines that explanations should In fact account for the greatest number of facts or observations,
with the fewest number of principles or assumptions. (Underwood, 1957) When studying
behaviourism, the Key concepts found are the stimulus and response also known as the (S R)
equation. This involves classical and operant conditioning. These stimuli s allow the greatest
possibility to manipulate independent variables in order to study the dependent variable. The
measurable change in environment means that any event or situation may have some subsequent
changes in behaviour to reinforce learning. Theorist John Broadus Watson (1913) was the first
behaviourist to coin the ideas around behaviourism. He used contiguity to explain ideas and said
that practice could strengthen ones learning. His approach to behaviourism was very
parsimonious, using only a strict few simples to explain a variety of phenomena, e.g. The Little
Albert experiment . The idea round the experiment was that by pairing a white rat (CS) with a
loud bang (UCS) one could induce fear (UCR) which is known as classical conditioning. With
these observable events Watson s was able to influence many theorists and their contributions to
behaviourism. Firstly I refer to Skinner s work on

The Mask In T. Clark s Mask Of Superman
People look at Superman like a God, strong and mighty. A warrior against evil. Superman s
appearance is distinctive and iconic; he usually wears a blue costume with a red and yellow
emblem on the chest, consisting of the letter S in a shield shape, and a red cape. Clark creates the
costumed identity of Supermanso as to protect his personal privacy and the safety of his loved ones.
As Clark Kent, he wears glasses to disguise his face and wears his Superman costume underneath
his clothes so that he can change at a moment s notice. To complete this disguise, Clark avoids
violent confrontation, preferring to slip away and change into Superman when danger arises, and
suffers occasional ridicule for his apparent cowardice. Whenever I picture Superman

Cyber Security And Information Technology
With this being a small section of the overall interview a lot was played to the bear of reality of
how much still needs to be learned. With the point about our nation, intellectual property, cyber
warfare, and attacks on financial institutions. This was a video recording from 2013 about situations
happening during that time. Not being able to see into the future of what would happen what still
needs to be learned and what has worked.
With the point on Sharing information back and forth with the private sector how dose one side or

We will always need to protect our boarders of this country from attackwhether big or small. The
point in the interview was about how do you shore up the boarders without closing them. It was
brought up about the limited resources and using more of a collaborated response with government
resources already working the areas. This would include the US Customs and Border Protection,
Coast Guard that can be operated under the US Navy during war times and Homeland security
during piece times, and the Navy.
These resources are to be allocated by the risk perceived in certain areas that could change based
on information. One of our biggest challenges is to keep America open and stop people that want
to inflict harm to it from getting in. With this being done it was also mentioned, we should still
look to other resources that are able to assist like all ocean ports to share information on what
vessels are carrying and where they are headed. This also needs to be moved internationally to help
identify questionable ships before getting to a United States port.
How to deal with cyber attacks and hacking of public and private sector information. This seems
to be on the side burner since this video. We have had an almost monthly hack into some so called
safe citizen information. So like it was mentioned in the video the private sector and government

Nike s Recent `` Equality Campaign `` Commercial Of A...
This essay seeks to analyze Nike s recent equality campaign commercial that was released in
February 2017. Nike, the American sports brand giant who makes up 31% of the athletic footwear
market (Keady, 2011), has been noted for creating political statements alongside the consumer
goods that they produce. As seen in the short black and white filmed advertisement, famous
American athletes Lebron James, Megan Rapinoe, Kevin Durant, and Serena Williams are depicted
standing up against social inequalities experienced by racial minorities and other marginalized
groups; other marginalized groups include those such as the LGBT community as represented by
soccer star Megan Rapinoe. The basic idea behind the piece is to illustrate that if equality... Show

As seen with the Nike equality campaign commercial, Nike is calling for those who buy their
products to almost break through the current social boundaries and to move past these lines. The
quote of moving past these lines aids in furthering the post Fordist concept of uniqueness as it
almost encourages one to think outside the box and to be different by going against societal
limitations and norms while in hopes of striving for equality; it gives a sense of inspiration to those
who witness the commercial. Nike is commanding for not only their consumer base, but all those
who view this ad to be active in fighting for equality for all races and other minority groups. Nike
believes this idea starts with you, and not by those who are atop the social hierarchy like those in
governmental positions; taking a bottom to top approach. This idea exemplified by Nike gives
the consumer a stronger feeling of empowerment within the world in which they live. The idea of
individual self control and power is further highlighted through the quote by the narrator, Michael
B. Jordan, who states here you re defined by your actions. In this instance, each individual in
society is considered for being responsible for change. Nike s willingness of taking into account
the various people who make up society is shown

Magna Carta Research Paper
The Magna Carta was a charter in 1215 that gave rights to protect its subjects from King John and
his oppressive rulings. It contained sixty three clauses that detailed everything from land rights to
legal rights. This document gave protection to the people from the tyrant King and placed no man
above the law, not even the king. Unfortunately, the document failed with civil war ensuing months
later.
King John was excommunicated from the church in 1209 for seizing church property and selling it
back to the church at a profit. He then used these funds to build an English Navy to invade Ireland
in 1210. He then furthered his exhibition to invade Poitou, France and after a humiliating defeat to

oppressing regime stemming from Henry II. After the failed attempt to infiltrate Northampton

Magna Carta.
The Magna Carta is typical of the era because, people were tired of being oppressed by a tyrant.
This is evident in a writing by Matthew Paris, Foul as it is, hell itself is made fouler by the
presence of King John. The writing is also specific to its time, the document was written in Old
English. The subject of the document was a series of clauses to ensure that not even the king was

This work was considerably unusual for its time, because the king had always been the Judge
and the Jury. The people were his subjects and the people were subjected to his rulings. A king
could levy taxes at any rate from his subjects to support his war efforts. But, as stated in the
Magna Carta under the 12th clause it states No scutage (money levied for war) or aid may be

Defining Ownership integration describes the procedure of firm buying another business that
produces many of their material. When obtaining many of their suppliers the firm is then able to
control the manufacture process. This helps the firm cut expenses. This is a big advantage because
now that the firm is in control of the production process, they do not have to worry about another

are the primary issues the company is evaluating? How do they compare to the issues discussed in
the chapter?
Vanquish Logistics is a branch located in Lebanon Tennessee making a global SC network design
decision and what the primary issues they are facing today are. The primary issues the company
Vanquish is assessing today are transpiration management. The management system within
transportation has been crucial lately do to the big transition of moving locations. Truck loads
have been lost, pay stubs have been on hold, and missions have not been completed on time. Retail
and Central location have not been making matters any easier on the company. Another primary
issue would be the transition between the pickup times and when the deliveries need to be met.
When a delivery is not made on time this is problematic because this causes the company to lose
money. When they lose money, Vanquish does not get paid for the uncompleted mission. Some
issues that Vanquish can relate to in regards of chapter 6 are the retail locations. At the beginning
of the relocation process for Vanquish they had one large contracts with Nissan and Lamtec, but
since they have relocated, they have been winning more international contracts and not just strictly
domestic causing retail locations to become a big issue. One which has failed the design decision

Relations Between Public Relations Professionals And Media...
Introduction
The perceived cantankerous relationship that characterises the exchanges between public relations
professionals and media practitioners has been rife since the birth of public relations. The pair are,
in its simplest term frenemies , they do work together, albeit covertly, and are usually hesitant to
admit (on the media side) their cooperation. However, there is no absolute trust held between the
two for there is a shifting power of control and influence that continually changes, which Fletcher
(as cited in Hobsbawn, 2010, p. 64) believes is due to the market value of the particular product
that public relations is representing. Media practitioners are often called the watchdogs of society,
their history of holding the rulers of society accountable and maintaining democracy is a view that
is still maintained today. They are, however, in the eyes of public relations practitioners the gate
keeper , whereby they decide what is accessible to the public, conversely this power has somewhat
diminished due to the rise of the internet. Comparatively, public relations practitioners are viewed
by the media as spin doctors who threaten legitimate news content and act as ...the servants of
vested interests who deny the people their right to know... (Greenslade, 2005, as cited in White
Hobsbawm, 2007, p.284). In discussing the symbiotic relationship that is held between the two with

The fear of death is universal. Death is an inescapable personal experience that can never be fully
understood or known. The uncertainty of what happens during and after death is the basis of the
fear. To placate this anxiety, historically different cultures have created different burial rituals (The
Vampire Myth and Christianity 15). Belief in vampires has existed since the beginning of human
history, often appearing in many different cultures concurrently (The Vampire in modern media).
These ritual were performed to guarantee that the dead would not rise. Now for the Christian

primary functions of any religion is to legislate morality to both the elites and the commoners.
However, the Catholic Church was not fortunate enough to be working with a tabula rasa. Prior to

Depleted Uranium Contamination
Depleted Uranium Contamination
From Military Activities
1.Introduction
Depleted uranium (DU, Q metal, D depletalloy, or D 38) is uranium with a lower concentration
of the fissible isotope U 235 than natural uranium. Natural uranium consists of 99.28% U 238,
0.71% U 235, and 0.0054% U 234.1 Nuclear reactors use uranium as their basic fuel in the form of
UO2.2 DU is a byproduct from enriching natural UO2 to use in these nuclear power reactors.
Uranium decays slowly by emitting an alpha particle. U 238 has a 4,510,000,000 year half life
and U 235 has a 247,000 year half life; which means that DU is significantly less radioactive than
natural uranium. Although it also has civilian uses, DU byproduct majorly has military uses.3,4
Properties that make DU suitable for military weaponry, as a part of kinetic based armor piercing
shells are its high density and pyrophoric nature.5
It wasn t until the 1970 s the Pentagon began searching for material to make denser armor piercing
projectiles that DU started being used in conflicts. After testing various metals, researchers decided
to choose DU. The US and NATO militaries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The roles and responsibilities were defined by what was inherited from the generations prior and
to a significant degree, these beliefs had a connection with the laws of God disseminated through
the church. As a result, such roles and responsibilities were strongly entrenched hence to
challenge them would result in making the person an outcast. Gender as a whole is a crucial
element to the construction of a society. European women in the nineteenth century lived in the
age of gender inequality and therefore women of both upper and middle class had no
occupational choices and stayed home caring for the children and the house, while men were out
working and bringing home the money. This discourse is considered the norm and as Mary
Klages explains in Literary Theory, she refers to the poststructuralist theories that signifies gender
as attached to sexually dimorphic bodies, which signify the division of social practices and
relations into binary oppositions of male/female and masculine/feminine (Klages 2006, pg. 91

definition of women. Whilst the advocating of social equality within society is an intellectual way
of advancing the rights of a suppressed group of people such as females, it is none the less difficult

Conflict Theory And Social Learning Theory
Fruitvale Station
Jenna Shirley
University of New England
Fruitvale Station is a movie that has the capability to bring many emotions to the surface. This
movie can foster critical thinking, but it can also draw the viewer in to experience the raw
emotions and suspenseful moments of this real life story. Unfortunately, Oscar Grant s life was
ended abruptly after he spent the night celebrating the New Year with his friends and girlfriend,
Sophina. From this story, it is clear that Oscar was attempting to change his story by being a better
father to his daughter, Tatiana, thinking about marrying Sophina, and better providing for his
family by getting a stable job and being a man that his mother and sister could rely upon. While the
incident that occurred at Fruitvale Station could be analyzed from any variety of theories, this
paper will examine these events from the lens of Conflict Theory and Social Learning Theory.
These theories intertwine in many ways, but they also differ from each other in very important
aspects. Fruitvale Station is a cinema depiction of a true story involving the death of Oscar Grant in
a train station in Oakland, California during the early morning hours of January 1, 2009. This
incident has sparked many civil rights related protests and discussions. Oscar Grant was survived
by his mother, who has been very vocal since the incident, fighting for equal rights for minorities,
his sister, and his daughter, Tatiana (Johnson).

Obesity occurs over time when you eat more calories than you use. The balance between your
genetic makeup, overeating, eating high fat foods, and not being physically active. Being obese
increases your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and some cancers. If you are obese,
losing even 5 to 10 percent of your weight can delay or prevent some of these diseases. For
example, that means losing 10 to 20 pounds if you weigh 200 pounds. All of this can come from
eating unhealthy foods.
Anyone who struggles with food and eating can fall into habits that may lead to what professionals
call disordered eating. Disordered eating can take many forms, ranging from unhealthy eating habits
that keep you from losing weight. Healthy functioning organs require adequate nutrition, and
healthy hair follicles are no exception. Starvation diets that lead to severe protein energy

The Importance Of My Personal Identity
What is your identity? People think they know someone s identity by the external factors, but
there are internal factors that they don t know about the person. For example, people might
think people are happy, but deep down they might be sad and they don t want nobody to find
out. I define myself as a catholic heterosexual 15 year old Latina. My identity is very different
than what others think of me. I think my real identity is awesome, some people think that
because I am a teenager I m into parties,relationships,drugs and also how I m a teenager, I don t
like kid shows or playing with my little cousins also they think I don t do kid stuff anymore. My
real identity is very different from the other teenagers around me. I love to play with my niece
bella and my cousins. I love spending time with my family like if I would have to choose
between going with my friends to the movies or my family I would choose my family 1000times.
When my family and I go to beautiful places I m always taking pictures of nature, what going on
during the events. Nature is one of my favorite things because there are many beautiful things to
admire. Like when I go to the beach I like to stare at the waves and the sea shells come in and
leave. Another thingI like is summer because there are so many thingsyou can do than in the winter
or any other season. Summer is my favorite because we go to so many places and parties also you
re never home which means you ll rarely get bored. It also means you get to go on vacation. Art is
something I like because it s a way I can express myself, I love to draw and paint another thing I
like to do is observe art because I can imagine different things based on the art. Social media like
Snapchat, instagram, Facebook etc are amazing because you re able to see what other people are
going also a magnificent way of communicating with family and friends far far away. I love to be
under water even though I don t know how to swim but I m learning. One of my hobbies is to

The United States, once the world s largest producer and still its largest consumer, must import
half of its oil supply, weakening its overall strategic position and adding greatly to an already
burdensome trade deficit a precarious position for a great power (Yergin 14). So said Daniel
Yergin in the prologue of his 1990 bestseller The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and
Power. Today, oil retains its importance in the hydrocarbon societies of developed and developing
countries as a major engine of economic growth, but the story is not so simple. When Yergin wrote
The Prize, the United States seemed to be on an inevitable path toward instability and crisis as
domestic reserves, long depleted, forced oil imports and exports around... Show more content on

Comparing this to the world oil price in that same time period, there seems to be an overall
positive relationship between oil price and imports and exports. The price rises about $50/barrel
over three years until a sudden spike in 2007 2008, then drops dramatically before sharply rising
again (Figure 2). The drop in total imports and exports in 2012 does not seem to be correlated
with price, since there is an upward trend in price from 2009 2013. Aside from that year, it
appears that there is an overall positive correlation between total imports and exports of oil and
the price of oil, suggesting that because oil is an essential commodity, demand is much more
inelastic than supply. Thus, imports rise when prices are high even though it is disadvantageous
for importers because exporters are willing to provide a larger quantity and importers are less
sensitive to price.
To analyze whether this is true for individual countries requires further breaking down of the data.
The United States, Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Germany are almost always in the top six
for importers and Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates are almost
always in the top five for exporters, with the bottom half of the top ten importers and exporters
varying year by year. The top importers tend to be more static than the top exporters; that is, there
are only about eleven countries that switch up between the ten importing spots over that period

Speech On Federal Reserve Policy
Federal Reserve Speech Greetings and salutations to the CEO of the organization. To help you
interpret policies make by the Federal Reserve, I am here as an interpreter to help you understand
the policies that are in place due to the natural disasters that have happened around the world. In
October the Group of 30 International Banking had a seminar located in the nation s capital. The
consultation of the report will discuss the present status of where this country s economy is and
why the economy has been affected. This information allows us to determine the effects to the
corporation s state before and after. In the policy a specific point about the Federal Funds Rate was
made that really affected the corporation. The interest rate at which banks and other depository
institutions lend moneyto each other, usually on an overnight basis. The law requires banks to
keep a certain percentage of their customer s money on reserve, where the banks earn no interest
on it (Bankrate). Consequently, banks try to stay as close to the reserve limit as possible without
going under it, lending money back and forth to maintain the proper level (Bankrate). Banks hold
the requirement either at the local Fed branch office or in their vaults. If a bankis short of cash at
the end of the day, it borrows from a bank with extra money (Amadeo). The fed funds rate is what
banks charge each other for overnight loans to meet these reserve balances (Amadeo). The
borrowed is known as the federal funds. The policy states the Federal Reserve plans to return...

Child Labor in the Textile Industry in the Early Nineteenth Century
In article C the use of language and style indicate its origins as an official document in many
ways. In the title it states that it is an act , this is a term used for a legislative law that has been
passed by parliamentary. Further confirmation of this can be found by the use of the words
regulation , (control by rule) and enacted , (a law), and in the final sentence it states that this is
law . The style of writing is Old English and very formal this also indicates that it is an official
document. It is addressed to the Masters who were the owners of the cotton mills and factories and

The evidence given by Robert Owen, a mill owner, clearly indicates his strong views on the
damage being done to young children s physical and mental health, including deformed limbs,
stunted growth and being very slow academic learners. Sir Robert Peel Senior based his evidence
on well known opinion, stating that children of 8 or 9 years of age who were confined in the
factories for not less than 15 hours a day could not bear that degree of hardship without damaging
their health.
The views of Lord Lascelles, Mr. Finlay and GA Lee showed little concern for the children s health
their extracts confirm the basic economic need of the children to work and the factories to employ
them. They agreed that legislation was not necessary. Lord Lascelles was more concerned with the
interference of the principle of free labour and that more legislative measures would follow. Mr.
Finlay s view was that legislation would be detrimental to the vitally important manufacturing
industry and that consideration should be given to the fact that it employed more people than all of
the other manufacturer s in the country put together .
GA Lee appeared to be more concerned

Ethanol and Gas Prices Essays
Ethanol and Gas Prices
Do the gas prices frustrate you every time you pull up to the pump? Gas companies are charging
too much for the natural resource that is turned into what we know as gasoline. Gas companies
discourage research and new ideas every year. Afraid of losing the market that they have cornered
they buy patents. This way the patents will never be used and they still have the market cornered.
Ethanol is a much safer and more economical solution to our gas problem. It is cleaner burning
and it can be produced from year to year. Ethanol will allow the United States public to get away
from the corruption of big gas business and finally be able to enjoy better prices at the pump. The
gas companies do not need to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethanol is produced with the help of farmers. It comes from the common cash crop called corn.
These crops are grown throughout the United States and mainly in the Midwest. They can be
produced every year and hauled straight to the local plant. Using ethanol would help these
struggling farmers. The corn prices have been down for some time and the economic help from
using ethanol would be astronomical. Farmers would haul more corn each year because of the
demand that the ethanol plant brings. The demand for grain created by ethanol production
increases net farm income more than $12 billion annually (ethanol info). In the future the
demand for ethanol would be greater which would produce a larger farm income each year.
Ethanol could help the farmers more than anything else. The raise in income would be dramatic
because the use of ethanol today is only minimal and it produces $12 billion in income each
year. The more ethanol used the more the annual income it will produce. This would cause the
corn price to go up and more farmers would be able to stay in business. There would be no more
struggles with foreign nations to get better oil prices. The money that is spent on the imports of
oils from other countries will not be needed as much and hopefully in the future will not be needed
at all. This new and safe energy producer known as ethanol could be produced and manufactured in
the United States. Today, ethanol reduces the demand for gasoline

What Was Alexander s Actions
In 326 B.C.E. Alexander was in a battle at the Hydaspes River in India with King Porus. This is
considered by many to be his last major victory. There he would face a new opponent elephants.
The river was also a mile wide. Alexander would be facing an army again that outnumbered him.
King Porus thought the river was his best defense, but he underestimated Alexander s ability to
fight. Porus thought that Alexander would wait until monsoon season was over because the river
was deep and fast. Alexander ordered from his Indian ally, King Taxila, large grain shipments,
giving the indication that he would wait for monsoon season to end. But he had no intention of
waiting. Then Alexander started a distraction by putting campfires along the shore.

St. Jude For Life Study
I can not imagine a world without my mother. But without St. Jude I would be on this planet to
imagine anything at all.
This past summer, I, along with my mother and father, travelled to St. Jude Children s Research
Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. My mom had been invited to participate in the St. Jude For Life
Study because when she was around six to eight years old, she had a form of leukemia called
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This particular study is to help all present and future St. Jude
patients and help to research for a cure. While there, I saw first hand how cancer can affect a family.
You can just see all of the stress, the worry, the exhaustion, the tiredness, the fear, and the tears on
the families and the patients faces.

  • 2. The Personal Management Style Of Angelita De Luna The Personal Management Style of Angelita De Luna While conducting research for this paper I was forced to look at the reasons that led to my current path. Although I am a self proclaimed introvert and would prefer to be a doer and follower; my passion for the American Red Cross made it possible for me to accept new responsibilities. I have been in a formal management role for 2 years but have served with this organization for over 11 years. During this time I survived several reorganizations which have been accompanied by many different management styles. It is because of these experiences that I made the decision to move into my current role in a department that impacts every person within the organization. I am the regional manager ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leadership or leading on the other hand is defined as the process of influencing others to achieve group or organizational goals (Williams, 2016, p. 5). I would also add that a leader is someone that can be counted on to step up during a crisis to lead their team through it. I considers herself to a good manager and leader and will provide my reasoning for this statement. Management Styles Now that we have a basic understanding of management and leadership we can review a few different styles of management and I can offer personal experiences and preferences. There are six different management styles that I would like to review which include directive, affiliative, pacesetting, coaching, participative, and authoritative styles (Cardinal, n.d). Directive or Coercive Style. A directive or coercive style of management is interested in the compliance or obedience of their employees (Cardinal, n.d.). According to Peck, these managers tend to tell people what to do rather than allowing them the opportunity to find answers on their own (n.d.). In my experience, this form of management is not productive. One of my former directors, Kathy, transferred to the office with many years of experience. Within the first week she held staff meetings where she issued out orders and assigned tasks on top of our growing workload. All projects had to be completed exactly to her specification or she would issue verbal and written warnings which she referred to as CQIs or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Intrinsic Human Dignity and Equality in Relation to... Liberal democracy is prevalent in the West. This political arrangement guarantees the rights of a people in relation to their government. Many Westerners, unfortunately, cannot give a philosophical explanation and/or justification for it. Ultimately, an examination of liberal democracy will demonstrate that it rests on notions of human dignity, equality and happiness, which are not recent developments in philosophy, but have their origins in classical and scholastic thought. It is in said examination that one can reasonably conclude that liberal democracywhile not the best system of government is certainly better than the alternatives. Democracy is not a contemporary phenomenon. It did not originate here in North America. Rather, its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MacIntyre wrote: A practice involves standards of excellence and obedience to rules as well as the achievement of goods. To enter into a practice is to accept the authority of those standards and the inadequacy of my own performance as judged by them. It is to subject my own attitudes, choices, preferences and tastes to the standards which currently and partially define the practice (190) It would be arbitrary and subjective for individuals to judge their own craft, may it be the arts or sciences, without referring to authoritative tradition or body to gauge the quality of their work. Thus, institutions are needed because practices [require] a certain kind of relationship between those who participate in it (191). This relationship is not only with contemporary practitioners, but with past practitioners whose achievements extended the reach of the peace to its present point (194). Thus, the dissemination of knowledge, the observance of religion and the practice of medicine require schools, churches and hospitals if future generations hope to benefit from the previously mentioned goods. Democratic practices, in short, are ensured by democratic institutions. Popular rule does not occur by simple fiat, but through institutional frameworks. Robert A. Dahl in his text, On Democracy, proposed a hypothetical situation to demonstrate the aforementioned point, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Close Look at Rheumatoid Arthritis Essay Pathophysiology RA is a mediated inflammatory process that triggers an autoimmune response. The result is in the production of antibodies and inflammatory cytokines that over time destroys bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels (Dewing, Setter, Slusher, 2012). Although joints are the primary areas of destruction, the inflammatory process can also affect various organs, such as heart tissue including the heart values, visceral layers of the lung and brain, spleen, sclera and larynx (Dunphy, Windland Brown, Porter, Thomas 2011). If RA is not treated promptly or if the patient does not respond to treatment, irrevocable bone deformity, bone erosion and immobility is often the sequelae. Standards of treatment According ... • 5. The Statue Of Donatello s Saint George Donatello s Saint George is brave, is immovable but still human. Made from marble, the statue stands monumentally in size at just over 6 10 . It is known that Donatello created the statue using the subtraction method like many Renaissance sculptors. The figure itself is decorated with many objects and clothing that are part of the whole build. The knight is seen proudly showing off his shield that has a size of half his body. He is dressed in knightly clothing such as a chest plate, cloak, plate skirt, boots, and gloves. The Statue is thought to represent the classical heroes that were masculine yet still delicate. He appears to be ready for anything that comes in his way but still deep in thought. To add on to the humanism, it is believed by most scholars that he is in contrapposto; he is resting on one foot like a normal person.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Donatello constructed this whole figure from circa 1410 to 1415. However, the idea of the knight s symbol came from the fact that Saint George was an actual knight in the Roman Army under the Emperor Diocletian. His famous tale was of his victory against a plague bearing Dragon that lived in a lake and threatened the neighboring countryside. However, this was not why Saint George was made into a saint and/or why made into a statue. His Emperor, who thought of him as his best tribune, did not want to kill Saint George; in fact, he offered him tremendous amounts of wealth to convert from Christianity to Roman faith. However, with Georges loud and contempt refusals, he was ordered to be executed and from the 4th century onward became one of the most venerated saints in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Understanding Of Free Will And God s Omniscience Great Theologian Paper Consolations of Philosophy Prompt: Analyze Boethius s understanding of free will and God s omniscience as found in the Consolation of Philosophy. (4 6 Pages) The idea of human will has taken over Christians for centuries. Boethius the theologian offers two different ideas in the book Consolations of Philosophy, the understanding of divine foreknowledge and free will. Boethius explains There seems to be a hopeless conflict between divine foreknowledge of all things and freedom of human will. For if God sees everything in advance and cannot be deceived in any way, whatever his providence foresees will happen, must happen. Therefor, if God foreknows eternally not only all the acts of men, but also their plans and wishes, there cannot be freedom of will, nothing whatever can be done or even desired without its being known beforehand by the infallible Providence of God. (Baird, Philosophic Classics, Consolations of Philosophy 126.) Others have concluded that omniscience and human free will are exclusive. All actions are known by God beforehand. Boethius however, refuses to accept that conclusion. He believes that freewill absolutely is essential to moral activity and responsibility. There is a freewill...and no rational nature can exist which does not have it. For any being, which by its nature has the use of reason, must also have the power of judgment by which it can make decision and, by its own resources, distinguish between things which should be ... • 12. Unique Amino Acid Requirements in Endurance Athletes Knowledge gap There is ongoing research in the field of sports nutrition that focus on proteins and specific amino acid pathways and how they relate to muscle synthesis and degradation. Research on resistance training and amino acids is quite thorough but is lacking in regards to endurance exercise and amino acids. High intensity endurance training is important to improve the physical performance of athletes and requires amino acids as an energy substrate. Because high amounts of energy are required during training, amino acid supplementation has been used to increase the availability of amino acids to decrease the degradation of muscle protein and the effect of overtraining. Two of the main components of supplements that are popular with endurance athletes are BCAA and glutamine. There are divergent results on the impact of BCAA and glutamine supplementation on improving athletic performance and preventing muscle break down. As a health professional, another important component to look at would be the amount of these amino acids that are in popular supplements and if there is any potential negative side effects that could occur. Clinical studies on gene defects in the catabolic pathways for BCAAs demonstration their toxicity. All I was supposed to do was get them ready to take tests (Steve Eklund). Steve Eklund, a schoolteacher in California, states this claim when asked his opinion on No Child Left Behind by EducationVotes, a page run by the National Education Association. Through this, he shows his complete disapproval of the act and expresses just one of the reasons that many see it as a burden to American education. Beginning in 2001, George W. Bush declared to the American people that it was time to make a change in the American education system. The idea was dubbed No Child Left Behind. The bill was later signed into law on January... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The act was made to follow up Lyndon B. Johnson s Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which was created on April 9th, 1965. However, the No Child Left Behind acttwisted itself to negatively influence the American education system by implementing inane standards and learning targets that do not measure actual learning. One overlying problem seen is within the testing that takes place. Through the act standardized testing is implemented as a way to determine student proficiency levels, taking typical daily subjects out of the day to make room for test taking curriculum. Teachers are no longer spending a majority of time on practical real world skills, but are cramming the days with test taking strategies and skills needed to prove their intelligence to the United States government. High stakes testing causes teachers to teach to the test, which means narrowing content to focus solely on topics covered by the tests (Bohrnstedt et. al. 324). Consciousness and Philosophers of the Mind Consciousness and Philosophers of Mind Consciousness is a word used by philosophers, to signify that immediate knowledge which we have of our present thoughts and purposes, and, in general of all the operations of our mind... [and] if I am asked to prove that I cannot be deceived by consciousness to prove that it is not a fallacious sense I can find no proof... (Thomas Reid, referenced by Lehrer, 2008). Introduction There are many features of consciousness that philosophers of the mind discuss and debate. Two are found within the philosophy of Russ McBride; they are: a) ...a conscious creature or subject ; and b) a conscious mental state (Manson, 2011, 100). Another philosophy professor, Michael Antony, sees two features that are commonly debated and dissected by scholars in and out of the field of philosophy. Those features are the conscious state and the conscious creature both of which will be further developed in this paper. Are mental states always clearly conscious states ? Or are they clearly not conscious? Antony argues that it is impossible to accept that there could be any borderline cases or fuzzy boundaries for concepts of consciousness (Antony, 2008). Antony s and other approaches to consciousness are reviewed and critiqued in this paper. The Literature on Consciousness The concept of consciousness is ambiguous and polysemic (having more than one meaning), according to professor Neil Manson (King s College in London). The narrator, who goes by the name of Moll Flanders , does not expose herself (Defoe 7). When the novel begins she exclaims that My True Name is so well known in the Records, or Registers at Newgate, and in the Old Baily....that it is not expected I should set my Name (Defoe 7). The narrator conceals her true name to the readers because she recognizes that the proclamation of her name may result in an imprisonment for prior felonies. It is at this blurred point of view of the narrator that readers start to doubt if the events in the novel are true because they don t receive a genuine guide through the story. An army of half a million started the march to Moscow. The Russians knew they couldn t take the army head on and decided to mount a defensive campaign of strategic retreat, devastating the land as they fell back and harassing the flanks of the French. By September the French army had been reduced by two thirds. When Napoleon s army arrived in Moscow on September the 14, they found it depopulated and void of resources. • 22. The Fundamental Principle Of Concept Of Parsimony The most fundamental principle of behaviourism is the concept of parsimony. The law of parsimony, which can be known in other variations as the (Occam s Razor or Morgan s canon ) defines that explanations should In fact account for the greatest number of facts or observations, with the fewest number of principles or assumptions. (Underwood, 1957) When studying behaviourism, the Key concepts found are the stimulus and response also known as the (S R) equation. This involves classical and operant conditioning. These stimuli s allow the greatest possibility to manipulate independent variables in order to study the dependent variable. The measurable change in environment means that any event or situation may have some subsequent changes in behaviour to reinforce learning. Theorist John Broadus Watson (1913) was the first behaviourist to coin the ideas around behaviourism. He used contiguity to explain ideas and said that practice could strengthen ones learning. His approach to behaviourism was very parsimonious, using only a strict few simples to explain a variety of phenomena, e.g. The Little Albert experiment . The idea round the experiment was that by pairing a white rat (CS) with a loud bang (UCS) one could induce fear (UCR) which is known as classical conditioning. With these observable events Watson s was able to influence many theorists and their contributions to behaviourism. Firstly I refer to Skinner s work on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nike, the American sports brand giant who makes up 31% of the athletic footwear market (Keady, 2011), has been noted for creating political statements alongside the consumer goods that they produce. As seen in the short black and white filmed advertisement, famous American athletes Lebron James, Megan Rapinoe, Kevin Durant, and Serena Williams are depicted standing up against social inequalities experienced by racial minorities and other marginalized groups; other marginalized groups include those such as the LGBT community as represented by soccer star Megan Rapinoe. As seen with the Nike equality campaign commercial, Nike is calling for those who buy their products to almost break through the current social boundaries and to move past these lines. The quote of moving past these lines aids in furthering the post Fordist concept of uniqueness as it almost encourages one to think outside the box and to be different by going against societal limitations and norms while in hopes of striving for equality; it gives a sense of inspiration to those who witness the commercial. Nike is commanding for not only their consumer base, but all those who view this ad to be active in fighting for equality for all races and other minority groups. Nike believes this idea starts with you, and not by those who are atop the social hierarchy like those in governmental positions; taking a bottom to top approach. This idea exemplified by Nike gives the consumer a stronger feeling of empowerment within the world in which they live. The idea of individual self control and power is further highlighted through the quote by the narrator, Michael B. Jordan, who states here you re defined by your actions. Introduction The perceived cantankerous relationship that characterises the exchanges between public relations professionals and media practitioners has been rife since the birth of public relations. The pair are, in its simplest term frenemies , they do work together, albeit covertly, and are usually hesitant to admit (on the media side) their cooperation. However, there is no absolute trust held between the two for there is a shifting power of control and influence that continually changes, which Fletcher (as cited in Hobsbawn, 2010, p. 64) believes is due to the market value of the particular product that public relations is representing. Media practitioners are often called the watchdogs of society, their history of holding the rulers of society accountable and maintaining democracy is a view that is still maintained today. They are, however, in the eyes of public relations practitioners the gate keeper , whereby they decide what is accessible to the public, conversely this power has somewhat diminished due to the rise of the internet. Comparatively, public relations practitioners are viewed by the media as spin doctors who threaten legitimate news content and act as ...the servants of vested interests who deny the people their right to know... As a result, such roles and responsibilities were strongly entrenched hence to challenge them would result in making the person an outcast. Gender as a whole is a crucial element to the construction of a society. European women in the nineteenth century lived in the age of gender inequality and therefore women of both upper and middle class had no occupational choices and stayed home caring for the children and the house, while men were out working and bringing home the money. This discourse is considered the norm and as Mary Klages explains in Literary Theory, she refers to the poststructuralist theories that signifies gender as attached to sexually dimorphic bodies, which signify the division of social practices and relations into binary oppositions of male/female and masculine/feminine (Klages 2006, pg. 91 92). Newer marketing technologies must be modelled and implemented to adapt to this environment [2]. The authors objective is to examine how user mobile Internet usage relates to certain unique characteristics of the mobile Internet space. As opposed to the limitations on geographical mobility and access faced by PCs, mobile devices can access data wirelessly almost anytime and anywhere. The South Korean 3G mobile market had over 10 million subscribers in June 2008 [2]. With such increases in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Epic Quest For Oil, Money, And Power The United States, once the world s largest producer and still its largest consumer, must import half of its oil supply, weakening its overall strategic position and adding greatly to an already burdensome trade deficit a precarious position for a great power (Yergin 14). So said Daniel Yergin in the prologue of his 1990 bestseller The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power. Today, oil retains its importance in the hydrocarbon societies of developed and developing countries as a major engine of economic growth, but the story is not so simple. When Yergin wrote The Prize, the United States seemed to be on an inevitable path toward instability and crisis as domestic reserves, long depleted, forced oil imports and exports around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comparing this to the world oil price in that same time period, there seems to be an overall positive relationship between oil price and imports and exports. The price rises about $50/barrel over three years until a sudden spike in 2007 2008, then drops dramatically before sharply rising again (Figure 2). The drop in total imports and exports in 2012 does not seem to be correlated with price, since there is an upward trend in price from 2009 2013. Aside from that year, it appears that there is an overall positive correlation between total imports and exports of oil and the price of oil, suggesting that because oil is an essential commodity, demand is much more inelastic than supply. Thus, imports rise when prices are high even though it is disadvantageous for importers because exporters are willing to provide a larger quantity and importers are less sensitive to price. To analyze whether this is true for individual countries requires further breaking down of the data. The United States, Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Germany are almost always in the top six for importers and Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates are almost always in the top five for exporters, with the bottom half of the top ten importers and exporters varying year by year. The top importers tend to be more static than the top exporters; that is, there are only about eleven countries that switch up between the ten importing spots over that period whereas ... • 42. Speech On Federal Reserve Policy Federal Reserve Speech Greetings and salutations to the CEO of the organization. To help you interpret policies make by the Federal Reserve, I am here as an interpreter to help you understand the policies that are in place due to the natural disasters that have happened around the world. In October the Group of 30 International Banking had a seminar located in the nation s capital. The consultation of the report will discuss the present status of where this country s economy is and why the economy has been affected. This information allows us to determine the effects to the corporation s state before and after. In the policy a specific point about the Federal Funds Rate was made that really affected the corporation. The interest rate at which banks and other depository institutions lend moneyto each other, usually on an overnight basis. The law requires banks to keep a certain percentage of their customer s money on reserve, where the banks earn no interest on it (Bankrate). Consequently, banks try to stay as close to the reserve limit as possible without going under it, lending money back and forth to maintain the proper level (Bankrate). Banks hold the requirement either at the local Fed branch office or in their vaults. If a bankis short of cash at the end of the day, it borrows from a bank with extra money (Amadeo). The fed funds rate is what banks charge each other for overnight loans to meet these reserve balances (Amadeo). The borrowed is known as the federal funds. The policy states the Federal Reserve plans to return... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s the Most Interesting Interest Rate in the World. Child Labor in the Textile Industry in the Early Nineteenth Century In article C the use of language and style indicate its origins as an official document in many ways. In the title it states that it is an act , this is a term used for a legislative law that has been passed by parliamentary. Further confirmation of this can be found by the use of the words regulation , (control by rule) and enacted , (a law), and in the final sentence it states that this is law . The style of writing is Old English and very formal this also indicates that it is an official document. The evidence given by Robert Owen, a mill owner, clearly indicates his strong views on the damage being done to young children s physical and mental health, including deformed limbs, stunted growth and being very slow academic learners. Sir Robert Peel Senior based his evidence on well known opinion, stating that children of 8 or 9 years of age who were confined in the factories for not less than 15 hours a day could not bear that degree of hardship without damaging their health. The views of Lord Lascelles, Mr. Finlay and GA Lee showed little concern for the children s health their extracts confirm the basic economic need of the children to work and the factories to employ them. They agreed that legislation was not necessary. Lord Lascelles was more concerned with the interference of the principle of free labour and that more legislative measures would follow. Mr. Finlay s view was that legislation would be detrimental to the vitally important manufacturing industry and that consideration should be given to the fact that it employed more people than all of the other manufacturer s in the country put together . • 44. Ethanol and Gas Prices Essays Ethanol and Gas Prices Do the gas prices frustrate you every time you pull up to the pump? Gas companies are charging too much for the natural resource that is turned into what we know as gasoline. Gas companies discourage research and new ideas every year. Afraid of losing the market that they have cornered they buy patents. This way the patents will never be used and they still have the market cornered. Ethanol is a much safer and more economical solution to our gas problem. It is cleaner burning and it can be produced from year to year. Ethanol will allow the United States public to get away from the corruption of big gas business and finally be able to enjoy better prices at the pump. The gas companies do not need to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethanol is produced with the help of farmers. It comes from the common cash crop called corn. These crops are grown throughout the United States and mainly in the Midwest. They can be produced every year and hauled straight to the local plant. Using ethanol would help these struggling farmers. The corn prices have been down for some time and the economic help from using ethanol would be astronomical. Farmers would haul more corn each year because of the demand that the ethanol plant brings. The demand for grain created by ethanol production increases net farm income more than $12 billion annually (ethanol info). In the future the demand for ethanol would be greater which would produce a larger farm income each year. Ethanol could help the farmers more than anything else. The raise in income would be dramatic because the use of ethanol today is only minimal and it produces $12 billion in income each year. The more ethanol used the more the annual income it will produce. This would cause the corn price to go up and more farmers would be able to stay in business. There would be no more struggles with foreign nations to get better oil prices. The money that is spent on the imports of oils from other countries will not be needed as much and hopefully in the future will not be needed at all. This new and safe energy producer known as ethanol could be produced and manufactured in the United States. Today, ethanol reduces the demand for gasoline ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There he would face a new opponent elephants. The river was also a mile wide. Alexander would be facing an army again that outnumbered him. King Porus thought the river was his best defense, but he underestimated Alexander s ability to fight. Porus thought that Alexander would wait until monsoon season was over because the river was deep and fast. Alexander ordered from his Indian ally, King Taxila, large grain shipments, giving the indication that he would wait for monsoon season to end. But he had no intention of waiting. This past summer, I, along with my mother and father, travelled to St. Jude Children s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. My mom had been invited to participate in the St. Jude For Life Study because when she was around six to eight years old, she had a form of leukemia called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This particular study is to help all present and future St. Jude patients and help to research for a cure. While there, I saw first hand how cancer can affect a family. You can just see all of the stress, the worry, the exhaustion, the tiredness, the fear, and the tears on the families and the patients faces. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
