The Journey Essay
The Journey is the first chapter in the book called Survival in Auschwitz, written by Primo Levi;
which originally appeared in English under the title If This Is a Man in 1958. This first chapter brings
you through Levi s journey from Turin, Italy to the work camp, Auschwitz, while detailing the routine
of blatant inhumanity. The chapter begins as Levi states the fact that he was captured by the Fascist
Militia when he was 24, only after being forced to flee into the mountains because of his segregated
life filled with racial laws. The night he was captured, three fascist militia companies broke into their
refuge and took him as a suspect person. While being interrogated, Levi decided to admit that he was

The morning came quickly, emotions ran high, and after a night of panic, everyone realized they said
and did things they wished they hadn t, but the morning continued on. Suddenly the Germans held the
roll call. When completed, the officer asked the question `How Many? The corporal replied that there
were 650 pieces, and that everything was in order. From there, the humans, who had just been referred
to as `pieces were loaded onto busses and brought to a waiting train, this is where they received their
first blows, the captives had to question themselves as of how these men can hit them without anger.
Waiting for them were twelve goods wagons, the notorious transport trains, which would never return.
Men, women, and children were herded inside and pressed together like merchandise; packed in for a
journey with an undeclared destination. Next, everyone was packed in, the doors were shut, but the
train didn t begin to move until the evening. When the trains began to move, the captives inside had
finally learnt of their destination with relief; Auschwitz. This name meant nothing to them, but as long
as they knew they were going somewhere, that was all that mattered. The train moved slowly, and
through slits in the wagon, they could make out familiar cities, until everything familiar was out of
sight. The passengers suffered from cold and thirst, but their constant pleas for something to quench
their thirst, were dismissed. Through the slits in the wagon, the

Pros And Cons Of Syrian Refugee Crisis
Syrian Refugee Crisis
International Response:
People are starting to question whether or not they want Syrians living in their country due to all the
terrorist attack, threats etc.
Canadians do not like this idea.
Believe that the Liberals and the Canadian government should be focusing more on Canada s
problems other than foreign problems.
Canada is already to become overpopulated and there are already 1,364,800 people(approx.)
unemployed in Canada so if more people immigrate to Canada than more people will be unemployed.
The unemployment rate increased by 12,500 to 1,364,800, while employment decreased by 35,700 to
17,986,800, after four straight months of job gains.
Canadians who voted for the Liberals are not questioning their vote and ... Show more content on

Canadians are starting to realize that this is a very large amount of immigrants and is a very hard goal
to meet.
Refugees will be angry we didn t keep our promise. Refugees will start to think that Canada is not the
place to immigrate to.
Take a smaller number to test whether it is going to work or not.
Pros:
If it goes well maybe people will start to accept refugees and more will be able to come also could
change the way people look at Syrians.
Cons:
Refugees still don t get the number we promised.
If it does not go well then people will be totally against refugees coming into Canada and this will
affect future refugees coming.
Take other kinds of refugees.
There are so many other countries other than Syria that have problems with their governments or are
living in poverty.
I see ads all the time about giving unfortunate kids in Africa clean water well then why don t we bring
africans to Canada and help them. I am not saying that Syrians are bad people and we should just
ignore them because they aren t they are human beings just like we are but I think that we should get
more diversity after all Canada is one of the most diverse countries.

The High Cost of Genetic Engineering Essay
The High Cost of Genetic Engineering
Genetic research on human embryos, in correlation with the human genome, is the key to gene
therapy, genetic diagnosis, and even to genetically engineered human beings. Knowing which gene
controls what trait and causes what genetic disease will arm doctors with a powerful tool to treat their
patients at the molecular level. On the other hand, this allows people to possibly manipulate genes to
enhance specific traits or create the perfect baby. Genetic research on human embryos has two
implications. A practical one in therapeutic research (to detect, and hopefully correct gene flaws), and
then the potentiality of allowing parents to decide how their child should look (or in an extreme word,

Eugenics was and is thought to improve society and help eradicate diseases. There are two uses of
eugenics: positive and negative. Positive eugenics is increasing the procreation of those with traits
considered desirable or beneficial (Davis, 1981 and Saetz, 1985). Negative eugenics is stopping the
procreation of those with undesirable traits through sterilization, birth control, abortion or counseling
(Davis, 1981 and Saetz, 1985). Eugenics is thought to rid the world s population of bad or diseased
genes (Saetz, 1985. This practice, however, leads to intense discrimination against those with low
status, low IQ, etc (Davis, 1981).
The history of eugenics shows the ugly turn which genetics can take. The most prevalent example is
that of the Nazi regime and its policy of killing off Jews and Gypsies, who were thought to be inferior
(Saetz, 1985). Nazi and US compulsory sterilization laws, which sterilized the feeble minded,
schizophrenic, epileptic, depressed, etc., is also another example (Saetz, 1985). 410,600 people were
sterilized in Nazi Germany alone (Saetz, 1985). The birth control movement also embodied a sense of
eugenics, making it a privilege for the rich and a duty for the poor. Marget Sanger, a birth control
activist, was quoted saying, The chief issue of birth control

Intersectional Romance Fiction Essay
By the same token, the romance fiction genre pivots on the presentation of women s triumphs over
systemic inequality (Jagodzinski 9)¬ that is, Caucasian women s triumphs, as the romance fiction
genre seldom extends that kind of concern to other marginalized groups (Jagodzinski 9). The romance
fiction genre s endeavor to debunk ideological justifications for women s subordination offers little
insight into the domination (Crenshaw 155) of women of color, and the messages that correlate with
the genre s narratives are overgeneralized at best (Crenshaw 155) as a consequence of the narratives
embedment in solitarily Caucasian experience. Disagreeing with this model of romance fiction,
Jagodzinski proposes that romance fiction authors who look beyond just patriarchal oppression to
consider other types of systemic oppression, like racial oppression (Jagodzinski 9) create a new
subcategory of romance fiction: intersectional romance fiction, as various forms of identity directed
oppression are considered in conjunction with one another (Jagodzinski 9 10). The conflicts within
intersectional romance fiction often demonstrate how the maintenance of power is invested in the
oppression (Jagodzinski 150) of those who fail to meet the dominant standards of what the average
member of society should appear as. When an author deliberately distinguishes each character s
various avenues to power based on [their] identity (Jagodzinski 40), the audience is naturally made

Process Selection Process Essay
When creating a business model there are ample decisions and choices to make and consider. Those
decisions directly correlate to how successful the business can become as well as the effectiveness of
the company s growth. Bad business models can destroy a company and damage its reputation. As
consumers, we see this frequently with the weekly closings. Some as brutal as the destruction of
Enron, and other company breakdowns as simple as the monthly closings of JCPenney s which has led
to 2,250 layoffs. So consequently, you can observe and benefit from the use of efficient business plans
or view and examine the damage and destruction done by inefficient business plans. Through
thorough research we ll examine two methods that can help a company achieve a proficient business
plan. The use of process selection, and the choices made when implementing your facility layout can
directly contribute to the success rate of your business. To begin with the first topic for discussion we
first must properly define process selection. Process selection refers to the strategic decisions of
selecting the kind of production process to have in a manufacturing plant (Ch. 6 Process Selection and
Facility Layout). This method refers to the ways services and goods are made and delivered therefore,
influencing multiple aspects of a corporation, including their capacity planning and layout of their
facilities. Process selection is used primarily when planning the distribution of new products or

Hand Muffs: The revamped way to keep warm this winter season!
In the modern digital age that we live in, anything hands free are considered a need rather than a
novelty, and maybe this is the reason why the old concept of fur muffs have taken the current fashion
scene by storm.
This chilly winter season have somehow come of age from the gloves and the mitts and have
supposedly taken respite in the good old muffs which are nothing but cylindrical fur or otherwise hand
warmers which dated back into existence in the times of the early 16th century with its roots in the
Imperial Russia.
Fur muffs have come back to the current fashion trend this winter season and how, when all of the
foreign designer companies have given the older version of muffs a makeover by giving them a
multipurpose usage option which gives the modern day women an upper edge in the current times.

Africentric Alternative School Case Study
The expression separate but equal, is the philosophy in which was the foundation of racial segregation
in the late 19th and 20th centuries and is commonly referred to the Brown v. Board of Education case.
Separate but equal is the process of granting all citizens of the state the same rights and freedoms but
finding ways around the law that would allow racial discrimination to be applied in all situations.
However, separate but equal is not always a problematic circumstance, as the Africentric Alternative
School located in Toronto Ontario is an institution that was developed in order to cease the trend of
African descent students dropping out of school. This institution is not an issue of segregation of

Board required. The only difference is the school includes more African based lessons within the
curriculum. The school may be separate or different from other schools in the Toronto district but still

also includes education of African topics to increase the students pride within themselves. The school
believes that if the students have a greater knowledge of their background, they will that will be able
to have more respect and diligence for their present and future. Canadian history and other essential
topics required by the Ontario School Board are included within the curriculum, thus proving to not be
problematic as all students history backgrounds are being taught. Furthermore, there were two overall
reasons for why the school was created for the intent of educating minority students and not for
whites. Current scholars and researchers of education within the

Negative Effects of Smoking on Human Health and the Economy
Moreover, smoking particularly adversely affects women s reproductive health, and smoke exposure
on children has had detrimental and some sometimes fatal effects on children. Many studies have
examined and outlined the adverse effects of maternal smoking on both the mother as well as on the
baby and/or infant ( Hofhuis, de Jongste, Merkus, 2003 Woolbright 1994). Many states such as
Alabama required documentation on birth certificates of tobacco use of mothers (Woolbright, 1994).
Despite the Surgeon general s warning that maternal smoking may result in premature birth, fetal
injury, or dangerously low birth rate, fifteen to thirty seven percent of pregnant women still smoke

as well as other countries have filed lawsuits against the tobacco industry as a result of increased
healthcare costs induced by smoking tobacco. Many smokers within the United States depend on
financial assistance from state governments through Medicaid, a healthcare system that assists low
income families. Eventually, the tobacco industry settled the various state lawsuits in Mississippi,
Minnesota, Florida and Texas and agreed to pay thirty six billion dollars within a twenty five year
period (Bloch, Daynard, Roemer, 1998). The medical literature Warner, Hodgson, and Carroll (1999)
examined regarding the medical costs of smoking related ailments reveal that approximately eight
percent of a person s personal medical care costs is used to treat illnesses, diseases and deadly
conditions attributed to smoking, mainly lung cancer, COPD, and heart disease. These numbers,
however, do not reflect the costs of other less severe ailments that result from exposing to smoking
tobacco. Nonetheless, they reveal that medical costs represent one strain of the financial burden
smoking puts on people not only in the United States but worldwide. Despite the abundance of
literature that supports the notion that smoking burdens

and had six children. He had four sons and two daughters. He later died in New Orleans, Louisiana on
December 6, 1889 at 1 a.m. He was 81 years old when he died, of acute bronchitis. Jefferson Davis

Davis opposed secession for his home state of Mississippi. But Mississippi Governor John J. Pettus
and other state leaders were for secession after the election of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln surprisingly
won, even though he was not on some ballots. The South did not like him because they thought he was
going to abolish slavery. After that he ran for President of the Confederacy. He ran unopposed and was
elected for a six year term as President of the Confederate States. Jefferson Davis during the war had
some hardships. He had to move the capitol three times. Richmond, Virginia was the capitol was for
the longest while Danville, Virginia was the capitol at the end of the war. Also Montgomery was a
capitol too. After the war he was an outcast. He was captured in Irwinville, Georgia and charged with
treason. He was imprisoned at Fort Monroe in Virginia from May 22, 1865 to May 13, 1867.
Ironically, his bail was paid by an abolitionist Horace Greeley. Some facts about Jefferson Davis are
that he was not actually dressed as a woman when he was captured. He was in a poncho like shirt and
one of his wife s hats. The journalists just said he was dressed as a woman for publicity. His name
actually has historical significance; he was named after founding father Thomas Jefferson. Thomas

Eagle Ford Shale Industry Analysis
Texas has always been proud of their heritage and their industry. The boost in the economy is much
appreciated by Texas, and our government appears to be hushed by the counter weights and balances
where money appears to overpower the concern of environmental harm. Two articles that were
reviewed gave the opportunity to enlightened Texans about how production appears to be affecting air
quality and water and in turn is hurting Texans health. Through facts presented, it is apparent that
Texas government must take measures to improve the regulatory agencies so that the health of Texans
is secure. I am personally appalled by the facts stated in the articles, and reform is definitely required.

The Narrative Of Arthur Gordon Pym Of Nantucket
Compulsion is present everywhere. Whether it is someone telling you if something is right vs. wrong
or it is growing up in a society that shaped one to think and behave in a certain way; compulsion is a
variable that has always existed. One of the largest visible cases of mass compulsion is that involved
in the slavery of Africans. Folks were compelled to believe that there was justification for believing
whites were superior to blacks, and blacks were compelled to believe they were lesser humans than
whites were. In, Melville and American Power , there is a lot of discussion over the inferiority of
blacks. Individuals in society conceived this notion of inequality, which was than passed on from
generation to generation. Racism is just one specific example of compulsion. In The Narrative of
Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket you see many situations and scenes where compulsion plays a
essential role. Though slavery is not an essential component of this text, there are some underlining
racist comparisons that are the result of compulsion. Most of the white characters in this novella are
civilized and come from well educated backgrounds. The black savages, whom were the natives on
the island Tsalal, in this novella are portrayed as being exactly that: savages. The blacks are primitive
and cruel, folks that are superstitious and are masterminding a plot against the whites. These are all
misconceptions and stereotypes about that people have because as a society we have been

Impact Of Mini Banking And Subprime Lending Practices
Usury Laws
Currently, there is a lot of controversy surrounding mini banking and subprime lending practices,
which include payday loans and high interest credit cards, because some feel these financial practices
are not fair. The purpose of usury laws is to place a cap on excessive interest rates. It has become
commonplace for many unsavory lenders to take advantage of current laws, which charge on
excessive fees and rates, all in the name of profit. According to Elizabeth Warren, the government
should return to usury laws, laws that go back to biblical times, and colonial times, where strong usury
laws were in place. In 1979, a new law was discretely changed allowing financial companies to
remove limits on rates. (Maher Warren, 2010) By examining the strengths and weaknesses of usury
laws, from a consequentialism and contractarianism perspective, we can see how there needs to be a
balance in how companies engage in lending practices.
The problem with the current state of micro banks and credit card companies is the amount of the fees
and interest charges they are charging, usually to consumers who are poor and low wage earners, who
desperately seek out these alternatives to take care of their financial needs. These practices leave them
in a more desperate state because the extortionate fees, making it impossible to stay current on their
payments, by driving disadvantage consumers in deeper debt. Some of these companies charge high
percentage rates, and being late on

What exactly is a comedogenic rating? Basically it is a rating on a scale from 0 to 5 that s suppose to
tell you how poor clogging an ingredient will be. Because argan oil is commonly used for skin care,
its important to know that the oleic acid (highest concentration fatty acid) found within the compound
causes it to have a decently high comedogenic rating. This means that if you are prone to acne or
clogged pores easily, maybe keep argan oil off your face. However some sources have sited that argan
oil can be beneficial for acne because it keeps the skin nourished and moisturized, so trying it out will
be the best way to know if it s suited for your skin! It is also good to note that comedogenic rating

Goya and Daumier Comparison
I have found the realism arts to be very fascinating. The three pieces of art that I will be discussing are
Francisco Goya s The Third of May, 1808 oil on canvas 8ft 9 in. x 13ft 4in, Eugene Delacroix s

His art represented the reaction against previous conceptions of art and the desire for a new form of
expression. In order to understand the scope of Goya s art, and to appreciate the principles which
governed his development and tremendous versatility, it is essential to realize that his work extended
over a period of more than 60 years.
The importance of this factor is evident between his attitude towards life in his youth, when he
accepted the world as it was quite happily, in his manhood when he began to criticize it, and in his old
age when he became embittered and disillusioned with people and society. The world changed
completely during his lifetime and the society, in which he had achieved a great success, disappeared
during the Napoleonic war. Long before the end of the 18th century Goya had already turned towards
his new ideals and expressed them in his graphic art and in his paintings.
Daumier s made paintings and drawings of morals and manners that are highly original both in style
and subject. He added contemporary Parisian types, lawyers, politicians, businessmen, professors,
doctors and the petit bourgeois to his list of subjects. He also continued to attack the government

had hitherto enjoyed only sporadic and irregular contact with passing explorers and distant trading
posts. ( Ross, W. G. 1975) Because whalers coming, the life of Eskimo had many changes. May to
September are the best time to whaling, after this there are the long (ten month) period of inactivity.
Long time stay in harbors facilitated prolonged contact with the Eskimos. The Eskimo became
indispensable to the whalemen, assisting in whaling, hunting and overland travel. At the same time,
the whalemen came to be a port of the new Eskimo life. A way of life in which firearms, whaleboats
and a wide variety of imported goods played an increasingly important role. This economic
interdependence constituted the foundation of the Eskimo whalemen relation. ( Ross, W. G. 1975)

of the character, Mr. Chow and the many problems with different stereotypes this character trying to
represent. The movies industry also play around with the Asian Stereotypes in movies of having really
thick Asian accents if you look Asian, even if the actor is American. That principle also applied in this

movements. Within a few second into the scene, the camera shows a wide shot of him standing next
his bodyguard. What makes Mr. Chow standing out from his bodyguard is his flashy appearance,
which is consist of gold jacket, white pants, oversized women sunglasses and the excessive amount of

The Amontillado
In pace requiescat were the last words spoken by Montresor as he forced the last stone, which
separated him and the moribund body of Fortunato, into the wall. The story begins with a narration
from Montresor he claims that the thousand injuries of Fortunato he had borne, as well as the insults,
instigated his plan for revenge. He developed an ingenious plan which lead Fortunato to his demise.
Using the information he knows about him and the setting, he successfully executes his plan.

This too was another part of Montresor s plan by bringing him into the damp catacomb he began
coughing and to cure this he gave Fortunato a draught of the Medoc. Prior to entering the catacomb he
had already drank several cups of wine at the carnival so Montresor simply added to his drunkenness.
This made his plan to kill Fortunato easier for he was intoxicated and had no suspicion.
When they reached the end of the catacomb Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall and began
building a barrier which left him to die. He notices that Fortunato is no longer intoxicated for he began
to scream, however, Montresor lead him under the carnival for this purpose. The carnival is filled with
chatter and raucous which left them clueless the screaming of Fortunato. As others enjoyed themselves

Years later Montresor, on his deathbed, reveals his plan of revenge, which he was so proud of. We

Cataract Research Paper
Cataract is one of the visual problems that we are discussing in this project. They are developing on a
particular tissue from the eye called lens. The lens is located behind the iris and the pupil, this tissue is
fundamental in order to complete the visual process. The lens is a clear part of the eye that helps to
focus light or images on the retina, working like a camera lens. Cataracts produce a clouding on the
lens affecting the vision of the person. Most of them are commonly cause by aging, however they can
be develop on young people as well, but how are cataracts develop? The lens is made of water and
proteins; those proteins are organizing in a precise way that keeps the lens clear letting lights pass
perfectly through the retina. When people age some of those proteins can move and clump together
clouding a part of the lens making it harder for the person to see with the affected eye. Cataracts are
the most common cause of vision loss in people over 40 years and is the leading cause of blindness in
the world. In fact, there are more cases of cataracts worldwide than glaucoma, macular degeneration
and diabetic retinopathy combined. Currently, cataracts affect more than 22 million Americans form
40 years of age or older. In addition, as the population of the United States ages, more than 30 million
cataract cases are expected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

implant (IOL). Sometimes an IOL is not used, and glasses or contact lenses can

Characteristics Of Naturalism
America and its literature was once heavily influenced by the writings of romanticism. But during the
time of wars, people in America threw away their rose colored glasses and saw the world for it was.
And although this is how most realism writers ideas are portrayed, naturalism took it one step further
and correlated it to human behaviors and beliefs. Great authors were not only inspired by events
around their time period but also by other authors who had come before them and what they wrote
about.
During the late nineteenth century, the literary movement naturalism, was introduced to American
writers. The genesis of this movement was conducted in countries from Western Europe but the french
author, Emile Zola, set the movement into action. Zola s works and techniques strongly suggested
writers to look at the world a little more clearly and write about what it really was. This new idea was
eventually spread to the Americas and influenced more writers and more people to look at the world
and their country as Zola intended. Although, the movement was first brought up in France, it was
very short lived but was given a longer life in America. In naturalist writings, a common focus is to
express the life of lower class characters who live in poverty. An example from a naturalist author, was
a book about a struggling family during the Great Depression. Another common characteristic of
naturalism is to have the plots and conflicts of man against nature or man against

Online Education And Its Impact On College Students
Throughout the past decade, technology has advanced swiftly and significantly. The effects of such
advancements can be seen from the way that people keep in touch through social media, to the way
that people check out their groceries through self checkout lanes. It is only natural that the spread of
technology would eventually reach the educational level. To keep up with the changing times, online
schooling institutions have entered the educational arena. These institutions have produced many
bright students and college graduates; however, there is an abundance of critics who do not see the
validity of such schools. Contrary to the critics thoughts, online school is a valuable, legitimate option
that prepares students for success while remaining flexible. As online education rises in popularity, the
amount of educated individuals will also grow.
Online education fits in with college students ever changing lives. College students are amongst some
of the busiest people; therefore, it can be a challenge to create a school schedule that fits in with other
responsibilities. A flexible schedule is essential for these students academic success. Online education
provides the flexible schedule that is necessary for students to learn at a time that works for them,
when they are most productive. Having the ability to learn and complete coursework at any time of the
day enhances the educational experience. Furthermore, online schooling is a great option for students
who move often,

Intel and AMD are one of the leading brands that manufacture processors choose the processor that

3. Motherboard. The motherboard acts as the torso to the brain (CPU) of the computer. The
motherboard is used to connect all the internal components of the computer to each other to make a
well functioning machine. Different processors have different kinds of socket sizes and only work
with the motherboards that support those sizes. The choice of your motherboard will depend on what
processor you have, how much space you need on your machine, the size of your case, how much
memory you are going to require, if you need a high end graphic card and how often will you upgrade
your machine.
4. Random Access Memory card (RAM). RAM is where the programs on your computer will store the
information they require to run. High end games and graphics require more RAM memory. If you do
not have enough RAM your programs will run slower than they should. A very important note while
installing RAM is that it should always be installed in matching pairs, for example if you want your
machine to have 8GB of RAM then install two 4GB sticks.
5. Hard Drive. Selecting a hard drive is a matter of personal opinion; your hard drive will store all
your personal programs, your operating system, and all of your data. So try and select a hard drive

Military Drinking Age
Drinking Age of the Military: Should it be Lowered
Jason M. Stoudt
DeVry University
The drinking age in the military is currently set at 21 years old as it is set for the rest of the country.
There has been an age old statement widely used by those in the military, If I am old enough to fight
and die for my country, I should be old enough to drink . The debate is out there that the drinking age
should be lowered for all young adults from 18 years old to 21 years old. The idea behind the fact that
younger people tend to have less responsibility and are not good candidates for being allowed to drink
is a valid point. Those serving in the military are different in that respect for the fact that they have
more responsibilities than that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the examples that is used to show that lowering the drinking age to 18 years of age is a bad
thing is a panel that was done in 1975 to 1993. In this panel they surveyed 39 states that had lowered
the drinking age to 18 yrs old between the 1970 s and the 1980 s. The mortality rate for those states
included in the study showed that once the drinking age was lowered the fatality rate from motor
vehicle accidents had risen substantially; most of the fatal accidents were at night. When the drinking
age was raised back to 21 years old the fatality rate had dropped back to a lower level as it had before
the age was lowered. The documentation shows that when those that are 18 to 21 years old are
allowed to drink the death rate from alcohol consumption in motor vehicle accidents are raised. Now
the death rate for those that are over the age of 21 years old has increased slightly only due to the fact
that the younger population now allowed to drink has been introduced into the equation (Carpenter
Dobkin, 2011). Simply stating that because they are allowed to drink at 18 years old and that some of
them get into accidents with motor vehicles while intoxicated on alcohol is irrelevant in the case that
there is evidence in the report that those that are over 21 years old are still getting into the same type
of accidents. Also considering the level of technology that is current in the world today

The video starts with a flash of white light (key light), close up on syringes and the main character in

A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians
A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully
experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual
disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of
Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a
Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a portion of heaven. According to Isaac
Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the
vehicles to God. He said: ...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as bridges
to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to bring them
into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so much taken with
them (Schwanda 1). Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could experience an
intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three categories, inward,
outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are meditation, service,
and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the main goal is to enter a
deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of Christ. The first spiritual
discipline is meditation. According to WordNet, meditation is the continuous and profound

Pros And Cons Of Surveillance In 1984
Surveillance, or a close watch kept over someone or something for a specific purpose, features
prominently in George Orwell s dystopian novel 1984. The book follows Winston Smith, a middle
aged man who lives in the futuristic society of Oceania, where the government of the Party, under the
leadership of Big Brother, maintains strict control of the people and prevents free thought through
propaganda, censorship, and surveillance. Winston tries to think freely while evading detection and
succeeds for a time in having an affair with his co conspirator Julia, but the Party eventually captures
and re educates both. Surveillance has also become a controversial issue in today s society, as Heather
Kelly discusses in her article After Boston: The pros and cons of surveillance cameras . Kelly presents
both sides of the debate concerning the role of surveillance in fighting crime, especially in light of the
Boston Marathon bombings. Supporters of surveillance point to its ability to increase safety and
security by deterring crime and assisting in criminal investigations. However, opponents worry that it
intrudes too much on the privacy of citizens, violating what they consider people s right to privacy.
Though in 1984 Orwell portrays surveillance as dystopian because it helps enforce the restriction of
free thought by constantly watching for any abnormal expression, Heather Kelly shows in her article
After Boston that surveillance in today s world is more utopian since it helps

Bureaucracy In The Military
The military is not a bureaucracy in and of itself, but contains bureaucracy. In fact, it is around 90%
bureaucracy, by pure manpower numbers. Let me come back to that.
A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any
person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural
firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I
am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design
work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a
secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on

We want people to enforce rules set up by the laws created by congress, and we want them to be
objective, so we set up hiring rules, you can t just hire your brother, cousin, friend, whomever, you

NOT beholden to the ruling party (everyone has political preferences, but we do not want the
bureaucracy to be politically motivated). We want the rules to be followed objectively, so you can t tell
food processing plant A that their process is unsafe or unhealthy, but plant B can use that process just
because your brother, cousin, friend, or whomever, works there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to
sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want
oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being
administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. All these
things mean we have to hire people whose job is something other than the primary function of
government, so we have layers of bureaucracy providing oversight, buffers, checks, and

What Is The Difference Between Medieval Mali Culture And...
Culture The people of medieval Mali had a unique culture. When talking about the culture of the Mali

As for families, a typical West African family was an extended family consisting of a father, mother,

sets. People, in both families and age sets, had the duty to help and be loyal to one another. Early West
African beliefs consisted of traditional beliefs that showed the importance of families, and animism
that reflected the people s dependence on the natural world for survival. One example of a traditional

Labor Law
Introduction
Employment law or labour law as it is historically concerns regulations in the workplace. That is, it
creates rights and responsibilities in the employment relationship, between employers and employees.
It is often suggested that it relates to a cycle, an ever revolving motion involving three tasks creating,
maintaining and terminating employment. Creating employment involves recruitment and selection of
employees, maintaining employment involves contractual terms and conditions or statutory rights and
terminating employment includes dismissals and potential litigation (Hardy and Upex, 2006, p.1).
Therefore, employment law forms the large body of laws, administrative rulings and precedents which

Consequently, as a result of this circumstances Alan behaved strangely that gained negative attention
from his co workers. At the end due to Alan s conduct, Mr. Philip acting on a bad mood dismissed him
with no valid reason.
From English law, employment law will fall under the remit of civil law which is concerned with
resolving a dispute between two parties. Most employment disputes will be resolved in the
employment tribunal. In resolving the dispute compensation or damages can be awarded to the
wronged party or in some cases an injunction can be made (Daniels, 2004, p. 4).
Creating employment
Each employee has an employment contract with his employer, which may either be oral or in writing.
A contract of employment or a contract of service is like any other contract in the sense that it is
subject to the general principles of law. In theory this means that the parties are free to negotiate the
terms and conditions that suit them so long as they remain within the constraints imposed by statute
and the common law. However, in practice a significant proportion of the workforce does not
negotiate on individual basis. An important proportion are engaged on such terms and conditions as
are laid down in currently operative collective agreements, although these agreements are, in practice
confined to the minority of employers (Lewis and

becoming obsolete. There was lots of fear and suspension expression in the movie and that was similar
to how it was in real life during the cold war. Although there are some ridiculous aspects of the film
Dr. Strangelove it underlines something that could have happened extremely easily during this time. In
Dr. Strangelove the world is at the brink of becoming completely decimated by the USSR s and the
United states nuclear arsenals. When watching the movie you may find some parts of it ridiculous but
most of the movie is accurate to what was going on in our military and government at this time just
made more dramatic. At this time the lives of millions were in the hands of just a few men high up in
the military and government. Any wrong action or statement by them could end up starting a nuclear
war. It s not crazy to think that one rouge commander under all the stress and suspicion going on from
the red scare would order an attack on the USSR during this time. There was a lot of conspiracies
going around about communist schemes to infect the united states such as the one that putting fluoride
in the water was a way the communists were attacking the USA. With conspiracies

Racial Demographics
Results and Discussion My data analysis of racial demographics in the school district shows that the
area is uniquely isolated surrounded by communities that don t look similar. At Palos Verdes Peninsula
High, there are two primary ethnic groups that attend school white students and Asian students.
Combined, they make up over 75% of the high school population, while white students represent the
largest overall at just over 40%. The third largest ethnic group represented is Hispanic or Latino
students, of which there are only 262. This equals about one tenth of the high school. The district
overall has even higher percentages of white students, totaling almost 48%. Only 12% of the district s
students identify as either Hispanic or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Times Data Desk, 2017). We can compare this data neighboring Long Beach just a few miles to the
east of the peninsula. The median income there is $50,985 about 40% of the Rancho Palos Verdes
median. Similarly to the racial makeup within its schools, the percentages of Asian and white people
are high for the county overall, in relation to others nearby (L.A. Times Data Desk, 2017).
Historically, the United States has directly tied its public education system to income because a
substantial portion of school funding is raised through local tax revenue (Owens, Reardon, Jencks,
2016, p. 1161). Some states can help offset discrepancies, but others are completely dependent on the
value of local property and income levels. Thus we find situations like Rancho Palos Verdes, where
wealth is necessary to afford homes and the cost of living, and nearby Long Beach, where families are
far more likely to be able to live within their means. Often, affluent counties claim that affordable
housing brings no net benefits to the community and hurts property values (Mueller, 2007, p. 1). The
benefits, however, are often overlooked and can be particularly impactful in educational spaces
without which would be severely lacking in an income segregated system. Richards (2014) finds that
attendance zone boundaries reinforce racial disparities in schools and can be manipulated by local
officials in ways that disenfranchise or zone out certain students in favor of others to

Explain Why Nobody Is Wrong
Nobody Is Wrong and If We Are, it s Not Our Fault
Studies show that a child s manners are most likely to be learned at a very young age.
Along with manners come a child s level of laziness and intensity, because of this children are able to
persevere through hard times and find ways to step it up when they mature. As a child my parents
raised me to the best of their ability and I would say 100% they did a great job and I m sure others
would agree. I was taught to be hard working versatile person who would go to the extreme for a
family member, God, or a job, and because of this I had grown up doing all of these to make my life
as good as I could get it. Everyone knows that when a person gets older they are given responsibilities

Now that I have grown up I have realized that it s not America its Texas that has that mentality,(which
is why I plan on staying). I can now see that nobody likes to be wrong that whatever they are doing it
is either not their fault or it can be right if we fight for it enough. It seems like nobody is fat anymore
that they, have a thyroid problem, nobody is short they are just, vertically challenged. Not only that
but now people who are alcoholics are only alcoholics because their father was a drunk and now they
re a victim to his drinking. Gay people can t help being attracted to the same sex they were born that
way and because they re born that way why should we discriminate. If a person says that
homosexuality is wrong they will probably be told, why do you have to hate or why do you have to
judge. Growing up in modern American society is the hardest challenge I have faced and will
definitely get harder, but if you stay rooted in your faith and actually be 100% about your faith you
should have no problem living in an American culture where you must be accepting of everyone.
These are the things that have allowed me to survive thus far. If you keep a civil tongue and voice
your opinion in a respectful manner you can win people s hearts in a way no one can comprehend. The
easiest way to survive in this country is to be loving and accepting, but

How Did Clara Barton Influence The American Red Cross
Clara Barton was born December 25, 1821 on Christmas Day at Oxford, Massachusetts. Clara s father
was Captain Stephen Barton and her mother was Sara Stone Barton. Clara was the youngest of four
siblings. When Clara was eleven years old her brother fell off the roof of a barn and became very ill.
Clara had to take care if him for two years and found out that she enjoyed helping and taking care of
others. This started Clara s journey of helping and caring for others by shaping and building the
American Red Cross in the United States.
Clara s mother always taught her that people should be treated equally. When Clara was working at a
school they wanted to pay her less than what men were paid. She was an excellent teacher and she did
not agree with this so she argued with them and they agreed to pay her the full wage. This started
Clara s fight for women s rights. Clara became an advocate for women s rights. Throughout her life

Jesus And The Holy Of Thorns
Jesus shed blood in a fourth place when a crown of thorns was placed on His head. Matthew 27:29
NIV tells us that a braided crown of thorns was placed on His head, and the Roman soldiers mocked
Him saying, Hail, King of the Jews! Bleeding from the thorns that were pushed into His head, Jesus
restored your peace of mind. Remember? The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, (Isaiah 53:5
KJV). The blood that Jesus shed from the crown of thorns is capable of releasing all of the strongholds
in your mind. Things that would otherwise hold you back, and keep you in confusion and weighted
down; Jesus took care of all of that before He ever got to the Cross. Praise God! You have always been
on His mind, and He knew that sometimes you were going to need Him to lead you to victory on the
battlefield of your own mind and against yourself.
The fifth place that Jesus bled from was His hands. His hands were pierced through with nails, and He
bled for your transgressions. But He was pierced for our transgressions, Isaiah 53:5 NASB. He bled
from His hands; so that you might prosper. He broke the curse from the work of your hands; so that
your labor could be blessed. This is a true blessing indeed, because we are told in Genesis 1:26 28 that
God had placed all dominion and authority into the hands of Adam and Eve. They lost their dominion
and authority to Satan. Since then, we have always had to work for our food and shelter. With the
blood covered hands of Jesus, you are able to

may not understand the difference between these two practitioners and may think that one is higher
than the other in their education level.

By design twenty first century learning prepares students to be successful, contributing citizens in the
locale of today s global society. Twenty first century learning requires students to understand how to
learn independently and develop strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills
(Mcleod, 2010). The principles and practices of progressive education convey a striking resemblance
to the contemporary principles associated with twenty first century learning (Little, 2013).
Progressives from the twentieth century and twenty first century educators both have focused on the
particulars of schooling, teaching, instruction, and concern for the individual leaners through the
curriculum (Hewitt, 2009; Little, 2013).
In the late nineteenth, the factory system gathered people into America s industrial cities (Waks,
2013). The old system of the home and neighborhood that trained children in the physical realities and
social responsibilities of life was voided by the factory system (Waks). Only schools remained
available as agencies to provide basic real world experience and social responsibility (Waks).
Progressive educators saw this challenge as a way to emphasize new teaching

The Journey Essay The Journey is the first chapter in the book called Survival in Auschwitz, written by Primo Levi; which originally appeared in English under the title If This Is a Man in 1958. This first chapter brings you through Levi s journey from Turin, Italy to the work camp, Auschwitz, while detailing the routine of blatant inhumanity. The chapter begins as Levi states the fact that he was captured by the Fascist Militia when he was 24, only after being forced to flee into the mountains because of his segregated life filled with racial laws. The night he was captured, three fascist militia companies broke into their refuge and took him as a suspect person. Suddenly the Germans held the roll call. When completed, the officer asked the question `How Many? The corporal replied that there were 650 pieces, and that everything was in order. From there, the humans, who had just been referred to as `pieces were loaded onto busses and brought to a waiting train, this is where they received their first blows, the captives had to question themselves as of how these men can hit them without anger. Waiting for them were twelve goods wagons, the notorious transport trains, which would never return. Men, women, and children were herded inside and pressed together like merchandise; packed in for a journey with an undeclared destination. Next, everyone was packed in, the doors were shut, but the train didn t begin to move until the evening. When the trains began to move, the captives inside had finally learnt of their destination with relief; Auschwitz. This name meant nothing to them, but as long as they knew they were going somewhere, that was all that mattered. The High Cost of Genetic Engineering Essay The High Cost of Genetic Engineering Genetic research on human embryos, in correlation with the human genome, is the key to gene therapy, genetic diagnosis, and even to genetically engineered human beings. Knowing which gene controls what trait and causes what genetic disease will arm doctors with a powerful tool to treat their patients at the molecular level. On the other hand, this allows people to possibly manipulate genes to enhance specific traits or create the perfect baby. Genetic research on human embryos has two implications. A practical one in therapeutic research (to detect, and hopefully correct gene flaws), and then the potentiality of allowing parents to decide how their child should look (or in an extreme word, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eugenics was and is thought to improve society and help eradicate diseases. There are two uses of eugenics: positive and negative. Positive eugenics is increasing the procreation of those with traits considered desirable or beneficial (Davis, 1981 and Saetz, 1985). Negative eugenics is stopping the procreation of those with undesirable traits through sterilization, birth control, abortion or counseling (Davis, 1981 and Saetz, 1985). Eugenics is thought to rid the world s population of bad or diseased genes (Saetz, 1985. This practice, however, leads to intense discrimination against those with low status, low IQ, etc (Davis, 1981). The history of eugenics shows the ugly turn which genetics can take. The most prevalent example is that of the Nazi regime and its policy of killing off Jews and Gypsies, who were thought to be inferior (Saetz, 1985). Nazi and US compulsory sterilization laws, which sterilized the feeble minded, schizophrenic, epileptic, depressed, etc., is also another example (Saetz, 1985). 410,600 people were sterilized in Nazi Germany alone (Saetz, 1985). The birth control movement also embodied a sense of eugenics, making it a privilege for the rich and a duty for the poor. Intersectional Romance Fiction Essay By the same token, the romance fiction genre pivots on the presentation of women s triumphs over systemic inequality (Jagodzinski 9)¬ that is, Caucasian women s triumphs, as the romance fiction genre seldom extends that kind of concern to other marginalized groups (Jagodzinski 9). The romance fiction genre s endeavor to debunk ideological justifications for women s subordination offers little insight into the domination (Crenshaw 155) of women of color, and the messages that correlate with the genre s narratives are overgeneralized at best (Crenshaw 155) as a consequence of the narratives embedment in solitarily Caucasian experience. Disagreeing with this model of romance fiction, Jagodzinski proposes that romance fiction authors who look beyond just patriarchal oppression to consider other types of systemic oppression, like racial oppression (Jagodzinski 9) create a new subcategory of romance fiction: intersectional romance fiction, as various forms of identity directed oppression are considered in conjunction with one another (Jagodzinski 9 10). The conflicts within intersectional romance fiction often demonstrate how the maintenance of power is invested in the oppression (Jagodzinski 150) of those who fail to meet the dominant standards of what the average member of society should appear as. When an author deliberately distinguishes each character s various avenues to power based on [their] identity (Jagodzinski 40), the audience is naturally made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So consequently, you can observe and benefit from the use of efficient business plans or view and examine the damage and destruction done by inefficient business plans. Through thorough research we ll examine two methods that can help a company achieve a proficient business plan. The use of process selection, and the choices made when implementing your facility layout can directly contribute to the success rate of your business. To begin with the first topic for discussion we first must properly define process selection. Process selection refers to the strategic decisions of selecting the kind of production process to have in a manufacturing plant (Ch. 6 Process Selection and Facility Layout). Whether it is someone telling you if something is right vs. wrong or it is growing up in a society that shaped one to think and behave in a certain way; compulsion is a variable that has always existed. One of the largest visible cases of mass compulsion is that involved in the slavery of Africans. Folks were compelled to believe that there was justification for believing whites were superior to blacks, and blacks were compelled to believe they were lesser humans than whites were. In, Melville and American Power , there is a lot of discussion over the inferiority of blacks. Individuals in society conceived this notion of inequality, which was than passed on from generation to generation. Racism is just one specific example of compulsion. • 13. Impact Of Mini Banking And Subprime Lending Practices Usury Laws Currently, there is a lot of controversy surrounding mini banking and subprime lending practices, which include payday loans and high interest credit cards, because some feel these financial practices are not fair. The purpose of usury laws is to place a cap on excessive interest rates. It has become commonplace for many unsavory lenders to take advantage of current laws, which charge on excessive fees and rates, all in the name of profit. According to Elizabeth Warren, the government should return to usury laws, laws that go back to biblical times, and colonial times, where strong usury laws were in place. In 1979, a new law was discretely changed allowing financial companies to remove limits on rates. (Maher Warren, 2010) By examining the strengths and weaknesses of usury laws, from a consequentialism and contractarianism perspective, we can see how there needs to be a balance in how companies engage in lending practices. The problem with the current state of micro banks and credit card companies is the amount of the fees and interest charges they are charging, usually to consumers who are poor and low wage earners, who desperately seek out these alternatives to take care of their financial needs. These practices leave them in a more desperate state because the extortionate fees, making it impossible to stay current on their payments, by driving disadvantage consumers in deeper debt. But during the time of wars, people in America threw away their rose colored glasses and saw the world for it was. And although this is how most realism writers ideas are portrayed, naturalism took it one step further and correlated it to human behaviors and beliefs. Great authors were not only inspired by events around their time period but also by other authors who had come before them and what they wrote about. During the late nineteenth century, the literary movement naturalism, was introduced to American writers. The genesis of this movement was conducted in countries from Western Europe but the french author, Emile Zola, set the movement into action. Different processors have different kinds of socket sizes and only work with the motherboards that support those sizes. The choice of your motherboard will depend on what processor you have, how much space you need on your machine, the size of your case, how much memory you are going to require, if you need a high end graphic card and how often will you upgrade your machine. 4. Random Access Memory card (RAM). RAM is where the programs on your computer will store the information they require to run. High end games and graphics require more RAM memory. If you do not have enough RAM your programs will run slower than they should. A very important note while installing RAM is that it should always be installed in matching pairs, for example if you want your machine to have 8GB of RAM then install two 4GB sticks. 5. Hard Drive. • 26. Military Drinking Age Drinking Age of the Military: Should it be Lowered Jason M. Stoudt DeVry University The drinking age in the military is currently set at 21 years old as it is set for the rest of the country. There has been an age old statement widely used by those in the military, If I am old enough to fight and die for my country, I should be old enough to drink . The debate is out there that the drinking age should be lowered for all young adults from 18 years old to 21 years old. The idea behind the fact that younger people tend to have less responsibility and are not good candidates for being allowed to drink is a valid point. Those serving in the military are different in that respect for the fact that they have more responsibilities than that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the examples that is used to show that lowering the drinking age to 18 years of age is a bad thing is a panel that was done in 1975 to 1993. In this panel they surveyed 39 states that had lowered the drinking age to 18 yrs old between the 1970 s and the 1980 s. The mortality rate for those states included in the study showed that once the drinking age was lowered the fatality rate from motor vehicle accidents had risen substantially; most of the fatal accidents were at night. When the drinking age was raised back to 21 years old the fatality rate had dropped back to a lower level as it had before the age was lowered. The documentation shows that when those that are 18 to 21 years old are allowed to drink the death rate from alcohol consumption in motor vehicle accidents are raised. Now the death rate for those that are over the age of 21 years old has increased slightly only due to the fact that the younger population now allowed to drink has been introduced into the equation (Carpenter Dobkin, 2011). Simply stating that because they are allowed to drink at 18 years old and that some of them get into accidents with motor vehicles while intoxicated on alcohol is irrelevant in the case that there is evidence in the report that those that are over 21 years old are still getting into the same type of accidents. • 28. A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a portion of heaven. According to Isaac Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the vehicles to God. He said: ...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so much taken with them (Schwanda 1). Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could experience an intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three categories, inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of Christ. The first spiritual discipline is meditation. According to WordNet, meditation is the continuous and profound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book follows Winston Smith, a middle aged man who lives in the futuristic society of Oceania, where the government of the Party, under the leadership of Big Brother, maintains strict control of the people and prevents free thought through propaganda, censorship, and surveillance. Winston tries to think freely while evading detection and succeeds for a time in having an affair with his co conspirator Julia, but the Party eventually captures and re educates both. Surveillance has also become a controversial issue in today s society, as Heather Kelly discusses in her article After Boston: The pros and cons of surveillance cameras . Kelly presents both sides of the debate concerning the role of surveillance in fighting crime, especially in light of the Boston Marathon bombings. Supporters of surveillance point to its ability to increase safety and security by deterring crime and assisting in criminal investigations. However, opponents worry that it intrudes too much on the privacy of citizens, violating what they consider people s right to privacy. • 32. Bureaucracy In The Military The military is not a bureaucracy in and of itself, but contains bureaucracy. In fact, it is around 90% bureaucracy, by pure manpower numbers. Let me come back to that. A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We want the rules to be followed objectively, so you can t tell food processing plant A that their process is unsafe or unhealthy, but plant B can use that process just because your brother, cousin, friend, or whomever, works there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. Creating employment involves recruitment and selection of employees, maintaining employment involves contractual terms and conditions or statutory rights and terminating employment includes dismissals and potential litigation (Hardy and Upex, 2006, p.1). Similarly to the racial makeup within its schools, the percentages of Asian and white people are high for the county overall, in relation to others nearby (L.A. Times Data Desk, 2017). Historically, the United States has directly tied its public education system to income because a substantial portion of school funding is raised through local tax revenue (Owens, Reardon, Jencks, 2016, p. 1161). Some states can help offset discrepancies, but others are completely dependent on the value of local property and income levels. Thus we find situations like Rancho Palos Verdes, where wealth is necessary to afford homes and the cost of living, and nearby Long Beach, where families are far more likely to be able to live within their means. Often, affluent counties claim that affordable housing brings no net benefits to the community and hurts property values (Mueller, 2007, p. 1). The benefits, however, are often overlooked and can be particularly impactful in educational spaces without which would be severely lacking in an income segregated system. Bleeding from the thorns that were pushed into His head, Jesus restored your peace of mind. Remember? The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, (Isaiah 53:5 KJV). The blood that Jesus shed from the crown of thorns is capable of releasing all of the strongholds in your mind. Things that would otherwise hold you back, and keep you in confusion and weighted down; Jesus took care of all of that before He ever got to the Cross. Praise God! You have always been on His mind, and He knew that sometimes you were going to need Him to lead you to victory on the battlefield of your own mind and against yourself.
