Welcome and invitation
The first Pan-American conference took place in Pereira (Colombia) in 2012, followed by a
second meeting in Morelia (México)in 2014. The participants to the meetings have recognized
that there are several groups in the Pan-American region who have been working in the topic
for several years which justifies the need of a biannual conference in the region that will create
networks and facilitate the dissemination of research and knowledge. Since the conference is
held every two years in a different country, Argentina was selected for the 2016 event. The
conference is organized by “Facultad de Ingeniería Química-Universidad Nacional del Litoral”
(Argentina), in collaboration with “Instituto Mexicano de Tecnología del Agua” (Mexico), “Aarhus
University (Denmark)”, and “Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira” (Colombia), to provide a
platform for natural and constructed wetlands researchers and practitioners to exchange
knowledge.
Abstract submission
Deadline for abstract submission: February 10, 2016.
The abstract must be two pages extension, including title, authors, abstract, tables and figures.

Work presentation during the conference:
The works can be presented as oral presentation and posters. The selected oral presentations,
the authors will have 15 minutes for the presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions from
the audience. The posters must be in vertical format with a size of 0.80 x 0.60 m.
The manuscripts should be included in some of the following specific sessions:
1. Treatment wetlands for sanitary and municipal effluents.
2. Treatment wetlands for industrial and agricultural effluents.
3. Contaminant and nutrient dynamics in treatment and natural wetlands.
4. Metals, metalloids and emergent contaminants.
5. Design and operation strategies of treatment wetlands.
6. Modeling of contaminant and hydraulic dynamics in treatment wetlands.
7. The role of plants in treatment wetlands.
8. Case studies
Registration:
The authors must send the application form to conferenciahumedales2016@gmail.com. The e-
mail must state the first author name, with a correlative number if the author sent more than one
work. The form must state personal data and the intended session of the abstract, and if is an
oral presentation or a poster. The application form can be downloaded from the conference
website.

Any of the authors stated in the abstract can be registered. Up to three abstract per registered
author can be submitted. The registration fee must be made for the work be included in the final
program and published in the Book of Abstracts of the Conference.
