WHY Social Media?
    • 2/3 of the global internet population visits social networks (e.g. at least
      200 million users log in to Facebook every 24 hours)
    • Visiting social network sites is the 4th most popular online activity
      (ahead of personal email)
    • Time spent on social networks is growing at 3x the overall internet rate
      (currently the average user spends 55 minutes per day on Facebook)
    • Facebook is growing at approximately 700.000 users per day
    • More than 3 billion photos uploaded to Facebook each month
    • More than 100 million videos are viewed on Youtube each day

Social Media Checklist

    You cannot control the information about you on the internet, but you can
    contribute to a positive picture about you

    Use common sense - Try putting yourself in the employers shoes when you post
    on Facebook or tweeter
    Prevent „leaks“ – Do not put content on the web you do not want others to see;
    the web does not forget
    Analyse the web - Check Google and people search engines for information
    about you (your name)
    Monitor your name – Set up a Google Alert on your name
    Control privacy – Check and adjust the privacy settings of the social networks
    you are on
    Contribute content - Create positive content about you: Build a Xing/LinkedIn
    profile, write a blog etc.

      Estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics say that
     over half of all jobs are found through networking. Up to
        80% of executive level jobs are never even posted.


                     Effective networking requires preparation. The best time
                             to prepare is while you are still employed.

 “Of U.S. recruiters and HR professionals surveyed, 70% say
 they have rejected candidates based on information they found
 online.”


              “85% say that positive online reputation influences their hiring
              decisions at least to some extent. Nearly half say that a strong
              online reputation influences their decisions to a great extent.”

                            Tip!   Avoid titles like “guru” or “expert” –

Finding Work Using

     Fill out all applicable positions like you would a resume

     Get recommendations for as many positions as you can

     Join any groups that align with your industry and goals – participate
     on those groups too!

     Don’t forget to check the jobs posted within the group pages as well!

     Update this status often, even if it is with the same update, so you
     will appear in your Connections’ streams frequently. That way you
     have a better chance of being noticed!

Social Media Checklist You cannot control the information about you on the internet, but you can contribute to a positive picture about you Use common sense - Try putting yourself in the employers shoes when you post on Facebook or tweeter Prevent „leaks“ – Do not put content on the web you do not want others to see; the web does not forget Analyse the web - Check Google and people search engines for information about you (your name) Monitor your name – Set up a Google Alert on your name Control privacy – Check and adjust the privacy settings of the social networks you are on Contribute content - Create positive content about you: Build a Xing/LinkedIn profile, write a blog etc. 6 © 2012 Stefanini Proprietary and Confidential

Effective networking requires preparation. The best time to prepare is while you are still employed. “Of U.S. recruiters and HR professionals surveyed, 70% say they have rejected candidates based on information they found online.” “85% say that positive online reputation influences their hiring decisions at least to some extent.   • 12. Creating a Profile That’s it! You are on LinkedIn. The basic profile is really sparse – Before doing any connecting, fill it out as much as you can! Tip! Avoid titles like “guru” or “expert” – especially if you are looking for work. Tip! Choose a photo that best represents you professionally.. Finding Work Using Fill out all applicable positions like you would a resume Get recommendations for as many positions as you can Join any groups that align with your industry and goals – participate on those groups too! Don’t forget to check the jobs posted within the group pages as well! Update this status often, even if it is with the same update, so you will appear in your Connections’ streams frequently.
