We’ve sent 10,000 volunteers from 24 different countries on short term volunteer programs around the world CCS was recognized as an expert in its field by the UN and granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2003. In this capacity we consult on economic and social issues for the UN as needed. CARE, one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations (operating in 60 countries), chose CCS as its partner in 2001 to operate its CARECorps program, which allows volunteers the opportunity to travel to the field and learn about the work of CARE. Individual Meetings with their Intern Supervisor to ensure they are meeting their academic objectives and review their critically reflective journal. Internship Supervisors may also provide students with additional literature or organize meetings or lectures with experts in the field.

Maintaining a toll-free, 24-hour hotline in the U.S., for friends and family to reach Cross-Cultural Solutions staff to handle any urgent matters. Providing volunteers with Cross-Cultural Solutions staff support, through the constant presence of staff members to facilitate emergencies (like illness or family emergencies). Providing the following services to volunteers while they are in-country: Clean, safe food and water. In-country transportation by a local Cross-Cultural Solutions staff member, who is a licensed driver. Transportation also includes in-country airport transfers. Local staff that is attuned to local happenings and monitor all news and information. On-premise security, based on the cultural norms of the country. Daily monitoring of breaking U.S. State Department Travel Warnings, U.K. Foreign Office Travel Advice, Consular Information Sheets and Public Announcements. Should one of the countries or part of one of the countries in which we operate be placed on the U.S. Travel Warnings list or the U.K. Travel Advice list, we will follow U.S. government instructions for evacuation, check with the Embassies for whichever country the volunteers are from and suspend programs in that country until it has been removed from the list. Mention “Friends and Family Document” Mention that each Participant Handbook contains an information sheet with contact information that the participant can give to family.
